Ken711 Cornell 105 Wells 49. Good game for the whole bench to get some minutes. The starters played the first 10 minutes before sitting out the rest of the game. Does anyone know why Isaiah Gray was out and if he’ll be back for Princeton?by George64 - Other Sports

redice marty As someone who can't stand constant blabbermouth sports speak, I'm fine with Tim only talking about the plays he thinks are interesting. Agreed!! I've hit the mute button to silence these people, especially in the NFL....It makes me crazy!! Agreed!!! Top on my NFL mute list is Tony Romo. Arguably, he knows a lot, but I don’t care. I just want to enjoy the game. Fansby George64 - Hockey

Trotsky I love him. I will grant someone needs to take him aside and explain nobody gives a shit about the Binghamton Rangers. The Binghamton Rangers ceased to exist after 1997. When Grady was there, they were the Binghamton Senators. Now they’re gone, too.by George64 - Hockey

Trotsky upprdeck we need another good weekend and get some help from the teams 3-4 spots ahead of us. our margin is gonna be small. We need seven more good weekends. But so what? Some philosophy. This Winter is a lesson that the NC$$s can't be the overdetermining goal. Enjoy the games one at a time, and let PWR take care of itself. This is, in microcosm, the human problem of worryingby George64 - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs Quinnipiac, 1/20 - 2 months ago
scoop85 In our day we’d be sure to come back Friday when break ended to attend both of the weekend games. It was a sacrifice of course to spend the weekend at school with no schoolwork to worry about, but that was before Cornell apparently became a place where fun came to die. And we spent the night at Barton Hall to buy session tickets the next morning. In the years before they opened Barton,by George64 - Hockey
Re: AI killing SI - 2 months ago
George64 BTW, our heavyweight crew made the cover in, I think, 1957, several years before Cornell became even a gleam in my eye. I have a vague memory of Ed Marinaro making the SI cover as well. Al, thanks for the SI cover information. The 1962 crew! I was at Cornell then, I should have remembered!by George64 - John Spencer Is Dead

marty It was she who oversaw the “advance text” portion of the mag, stories that mostly ran only in subscriber issues (versus newsstand), and only then for subscribers in affluent zip codes. WTF?? Time persists. I’m old enough to remember when SI had wonderfully written articles - my all time favorite, Poison Ivy in the Ivy League. Chris '03 Opening at Harvard: “Murphy, 67, took over the Crimson football program prior to the 1994 season at a time when Harvard had not won more than eight games in a season since 1919.” While true, prior to 1980, Ivy teams only played nine games, and before 1940 only eight, unless they played in a bowl game.by George64 - Other Sports

rss77 Manon is playing more under control in not in committing the silly reach in fouls that have put him in foul trouble. Overall good team effort in 2nd half. Manon had quite a game. Worth checking out the game highlights video, if you haven’t already done so.by George64 - Other Sports

Al DeFlorio George64 I like Martha Pollack’s written response when asked by some members of Congress to make clear Cornell’s policies on genocide. “Genocide is abhorrent, and Cornell condemns calls for the genocide of any people. An explicit call for genocide, to kill all members of a group of people, would be a violation of our policies.” Fittingly succinct, nothing about “context.” Of courseby George64 - John Spencer Is Dead

Trotsky She could have said "freedom of expression means what it says, asshole" and walked out. But she equivocated like every mealy-mouthed corporate-academic President or Provost of the last 30 years would, and she wrote her own death sentence. Good riddance. Re: College Hockey Gameday at Lynah Rink - 3 months ago
arugula Good stuff. Did you all know Shane had had hip surgery? Also, Rayhill has literally never played a minute. His comments were good and he was fairly articulate. Unusual for a player to stick around for three years and never play. Wonder what the plan is, if any. His younger brother, Eddie, is a long stick midfielder at Cornell and was a prep school All-American. Both his parents werby George64 - Hockey

Re: Cornell in the Movies - 3 months ago
George64 The book, Boys in the Boat, was great, the documentary was great, the movie should be terrific, too. As I recall, Cornell was prominently mentioned in the book, so we should get a mention in the movie. The 1936 Poughkeepsie Regatta, in which Cornell finishes fifth, is depicted in the film. Interestingly, according to Corey Earle, Cornell is the only school with more Intercollegby George64 - John Spencer Is Dead

billhoward Cornell's entire history in basketball in the era of the formalized Ivy League play with a few exceptions and the notable 2010 sweet sixteen run has been to be happy with what we've got. One of the exceptions, during the Bill Bradley era, we were the only Ivy team to beat Princeton. Barton Hall was packed and Blaine Aston made a jump shot to win it.by George64 - Other Sports
Re: Wrestling 2023-24 - 4 months ago
ugarte Big news in that starting next year, the Ivy League is splitting from the EIWA as a standalone conference, with its own AQ for the conference champ. Kind of a bummer, imo, because the 17-team tournament is a lot more fun than a six-team tournament will be. Not only that, we lose our rivalry with Lehigh and create two conferences where one school is historically dramatically stronger than tby George64 - Other Sports
