Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Lacrosse 2015 NCAAs - 8 years ago
Kyle Rose CU77Are you (or were you) on a Cornell varsity team that had anywhere close to the accomplishments of this year's lax team?? I didn't think so. This is an instance of the dumbest class of fallacies in sports fandom. I was on the championship intramural softball team my senior year. Does that count?by toddlose - Other Sports

semsox Al DeFlorio Greenberg '97 And after yesterday's results, they no80.92% chance of receiving an at-large bid. So I guess that 100% from earlier in the week wasn't really 100%.Wonder what it is after today's debacle. Three goals in three periods against a porous defense? With five returning players in the offensive end, two of whom are All-Americans, you'd think they'd have a consistent ofby toddlose - Other Sports

CAS U's coach was suspended last year for trying to punch out Seth Appert after losing to RPI last year. Not a classy gesture You make this sound like it was a bad thing.by toddlose - Hockey

Found this today. Few on here are our boys. Don't recall seeing this on ELynah. Figured this was best place to post this.by toddlose - Hockey
Re: Should He Stay or Shoul He Go Part 2 - 9 years ago
Hypothetically speaking: If Mike was to leave, would our HC position be at least a lateral move for Dan Ratushny if he was offered the job? He's currently HC in Austrian league if I'm not mistaken. I'm very unfamiliar with pay scale and such in any of the European leagues. So please excuse my ignorance. Hahaby toddlose - Hockey
Re: ECAC Prelims - 9 years ago
Jim Hyla So let's start a discussion. The games are: Princeton @ Dartmouth Brown @ Harvard Union @ Cornell RPI @ Clarkson I think we drew the toughest team, but I think we can beat them on home ice. I think any of the other series can easily have upsets. If we get past Union, I don't mind playing SLU, would like Colgate, feel we'd have some chance at Q, but want to stay away from Yale. TimV Gimme RPI. History of failing in playoffs, doubt that they can go 3-1-1 on us, even this year. Nah. Let's take a shot at ending the defending national champs season instead.by toddlose - Hockey
Re: Union- cornell - 9 years ago
scoop85 I just finished watching on the DVR and have these observations: 1. Bardreau was magnificent tonight, maybe the best game I've seen him play at Cornell. While he's struggled at times this year, it's great to see him perform like he did tonight. 2. Very impressed with Gillam's calmness and positioning in net. Probably a bit steadier right now than Stewart, but both guys give us a chby toddlose - Hockey
Re: How many more goals will Buckles (currently with 4), Freschi (2), Tschantz (1), Weidner (1), Yates (1), P. McCarron (1) and Bliss (1) score over games 16-30? - 9 years ago
dbilmes Weidener and Buckles scored Friday against Union, so this group has given us 2 goals so far. And that seems to be where it will stand until next weekend with the looks of things.by toddlose - Hockey

Re: NCAA lax - Cornell-Maryland - 9 years ago
billhoward Maryland is 11-3. Its best wins are 16-8 at Syracuse in February back when Syracuse seemed to be having an off year, and 10-6 hosting Duke March 1. Worst loss April 12 at Hopkins 11-6, along with an 11-8 loss at NC and 6-5 to Notre Dame in the ACC tournament. All their losses were on the road; the closest home win as by 2 over Villanova. Trotsky Scersk '97Makes it easy to pull for Union. Against NoDak, BC, and Minny, I'd pretty much root for anybody. Too bad it's not Harvard as the fourth team; we could root for a tactical nuclear strike on Philadelphia and solve five problems at once. 6 problems would be solved. Melrose should be there too. Assuming you meant Philly was 5th problem.by toddlose - Hockey

Re: Bracketology - 10 years ago
Trotsky Success is equal thirds ability, luck, and work. But we might as well pretend it's all the only one we can control, since then if we succeed we can be maximally smug. There is no such thing as luck. There is only adequate or inadequate preparation to cope with a statistical universe.by toddlose - Hockey

Re: Game pucks used at Cornell - 10 years ago
Top center (white only on puck) is from 94. I helped out with the team during our dark years and have a couple of those pucks myself.by toddlose - Hockey
Re: Thank You - 11 years ago
Jim Hyla The whining and bad mouthing can go on, but I still feel thankful. As I said in another thread, this year had its periods of suckiness, too many and too long for sure, but we still came within seconds of going to AC. Most of the rest of the teams would have easily traded places with us to get that opportunity. We had a lot more chances to swear than to cheer, but in the end I can still sby toddlose - Hockey

css228 Jordan 04 Ben Chris '03 css228 Jordan 04 css228 If we can beat Q... we can beat anyone left This is the team that recently tied Brown at home, and lost to Harvard, right? Why can't we beat them? As is always the case in the league, anybody can beat anybody left, without it being too much of a surprise. Because we take a lot of idiotic penalties and our penalty kill sucks? Because weby toddlose - Hockey
