Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: 2019-01-11: #17 Cornell vs #13 Arizona State - 5 years ago
dag14 ASU keeper was awesome; and yes -- we lead 2-0 after 2. Period 2 was not quite as dominating, however. Excellent. Thank you.by toddlose - Hockey

KenP scoop85 BearLover I don't know if I've ever seen Cornell look that good in a period in my life. I was going say that the 1st period reminded me of Cornell from last season at its best26 SOG in the first period. Wow. Did we score any goals tho? Not being an asshole, just haven’t had a chance to look.by toddlose - Hockey

Re: Cornell football 2018 - 5 years ago
Trotsky Hey, football's fine if that's what you're into -- I've watched most of the Cornell games on ESPN+ this year. But I don't see any point in throwing any more resources at a behemoth which already warps and distends athletic budgets and gender balance. And attempting to gain Ivy football dominance is a bit like trying to win the Special Olympics. It makes the disabled participants feel eby toddlose - Other Sports

Look at the bright side, over the last 2 games with Princeton, we have split with them.by toddlose - Other Sports

Looks like I may be the “bright” one to not have bought msg tickets for once if this weekend is any indication of what we may be in store for.by toddlose - Hockey
Re: Adoration of Schafer from The Sun - 5 years ago
redice Jim Hyla I've wanted to put up a statue of Ned near the student entrance to Lynah and name the ice for Schafer. I've started some discussion about the statue, not with the ice. Statue would be nice for 2020 anniversary of 1970, and could honor Schafer at same time. +1 +2by toddlose - Hockey
Re: Ticket info & Who's going to Worcester? - 6 years ago

Re: Bracketology Starts - 6 years ago
Chris '03 toddlose Question for the Bridgeport arena (if sent there). How tough is it to get there by train? Is there a stop within walking distance? Considering all options not involving traveling on 95 north from NJ. It’s walkable from the train or the ferry from port Jeff. Thanks!by toddlose - Hockey

Re: Cornell vs. Princeton--ECAC Semis - 6 years ago
BearLover Princeton's Max Véronneau has more than twice as many points as any player on Cornell. Cornell’s Matthew Galajda has more than four times as many shutouts as any player on Princeton. Couldn’t resist.by toddlose - Hockey

Random question (as I was not there that year): How was the penn state turn out for the msg game vs Cornell a few years ago? In regards to percentage of crowd.by toddlose - Hockey

Re: Cornell at Union, 2/24/18 - 6 years ago
abmarks RichH abmarks Huh? What are you smoking? rpi = win % + opponents win% + opp opponents win%. Unadulterated RPI treats all wins the same- so beating RPI & losing to Union gives us the same RPI as a combo of losing to RPI and beating Union. Union is hovering between 17 and 22 in RPI right now. If they finish in the top 20 of RPI, beating union gets us a quality win bonus. Beaby toddlose - Hockey

Swampy marty Scersk '97 Scrivens, goalie; .966 sv% CAN 5 SUI 1 They must have a good SYSTEM! Well, to be fair, compared to team USA, they had more than 5 days of practice. Re: Injuries - 6 years ago
Jim Hyla ugarte BearLover ugarte BearLover Whether to post about injuries mentioned in Schafer's weekly letter is a practical, not ethical, issue: we don't want other teams finding out. Obviously Schafer stating the injury situation/the Sun publishing it renders this conversation moot, but I have gotten the sense that when Schafer says something in the weekly email or at a Coach's Club meeting, bby toddlose - Hockey

Jim Hyla Jeff Hopkins '82 redliner Roy 82 Jeff Hopkins '82 I for one will continue to sing the current lyrics. Political correctness be damned! Why? I gladly welcome the more inclusive lyrics since it makes many people feel better and does no harm to me. I think he was being sarcastic. Though, you can never quite tell on the internet... Trotsky Jim HylaIf not, I'll be happy and believe next year should be even better. One objection, not to you but to the idea as a whole. We all know how rare this is, to be very good, to have everything going right, and not to have some immovable Dread Obstacle like RPI '85 or Harvard '89 in our path. Re: Opponents News 2: Hockey's the Reason for the Season - 6 years ago
Swampy marty ND hit a speed bump today losing their 4th of the season to lowly Wisconsin. They played in the United Center in Chicago. Did the Olympic roster kick in? There is no mention of that in the ND recap. According to the Team USA web site, the USA hockey team will start practicing in South Korea about a week before the games begin. Since Ryan Donato scored almost 1/3 of Harvard's gby toddlose - Hockey

Cop at Lynah I believe a lot of the credit goes to Ben Syer. It's since his arrival that the recruiting has changed. Hopefully he sticks around awhile, but my gut says there is a head coaching opportunity coming his way in the near future.[/quoteby toddlose - Hockey
Re: Princeton @ Cornell 1/5/18 - 6 years ago
Jim Hyla Swampy Wow! Last weekend PU tied the #1 team in the country, not once but twice! What does a spanking like this a week later do for our RPI, pairwise, etc.? What does it do to SCSU's? I talked to what I assume was a PU parent about those games. He said SCSu was the best team they've seen. They were outplayed, especially in the OT of the first game. The OT shots were 14-0, SCSUby toddlose - Hockey
