Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Season's Over - 4 years ago
jtwcornell91 Dafatone ugarte My honest, no-joke, opinion is that a banner acknowledging that we finished The Season of The Plague in #1 in the polls is a reasonable hearkening back to the pre-playoffs college football era. This year's teams - men's and women's - deserve to be remembered, even if it's just a second accolade on the ECAC regular season championship banners. Maybe just a banner witby toddlose - Hockey

Soooooo......... Since the Rangers have no need for Barron for a playoff run now, is there ANY hope he comes back to take care of the unfinished business?by toddlose - Hockey
Re: Corona Virus And Playoff Games - 4 years ago
underskill and maybe award the NC to the team that finished #1 in the polls... How about a two day tournament with the top four in the pairwise?by toddlose - Hockey
Re: Bracketology for 2020 NCAAs - 4 years ago
Dafatone Trotsky Why would the games not having fans change anything as far as rooting for the team or being excited? I honestly don't get it. It is interesting that this eliminates the NC$$'s bullsh-t dollar sign motives. Makes for a better seeding anyway. I vote we suspend the playoffs, pick them up in June, and play all conference and NC$$ games at the better seed. Ahem. Right now,by toddlose - Hockey

scoop85 jtwcornell91 Dafatone andyw2100 Lots of discussion about $6 refunds on $20 (or close to it) tickets. But let's look at the big numbers / big issues as they apply not only to Cornell but to all the schools that are canceling "in-person" classes and sending the students home. Will the schools be issuing partial tuition refunds? The students did not pay for "distance learning.by toddlose - Hockey
Re: Corona Virus And Playoff Games - 4 years ago
Well at least our guys will know what it feels like this weekend if they went to Harvard instead. Actually, any of the ECAC teams that played last weekend by crowd sizes I saw on tv.by toddlose - Hockey
Re: Corona Virus And Playoff Games - 4 years ago
I guess the next “logical” step is to cancel all classes and close the campus down. If they can’t be in Lynah, why are they allowed in lecture halls, cafeterias, etc??by toddlose - Hockey

redice adamw rediceIf I don't get in: Do you need an assistant for the tourney, Adam? hmmm - maybe BTW - I'm still not ready to concede that the 1 million number is certainly wrong, either ... cases in Westchester, where this started in NY, jumped from 12 to 80 just in a few days. Here's Cuomo today... “What happened in the Westchester County was, the person who was positiveby toddlose - Hockey

Jim Hyla upprdeck millions of people get the flu shot, thousands still die and unknown numbers get the flu but dont even know it because its so mild. we are only really testing people that we think have it and we have no vaccine. if we tested everyone more people we may find out dramatically different numbers on how many have it and how many have serious symptoms. Agree, I suspect that the dby toddlose - Hockey
Re: Corona Virus And Playoff Games - 4 years ago
Jim Hyla billhoward upprdeck what would the flu numbers be if we tested for it? Flu as in influenza? 8% afflicted (normal year), 0.1% die - 1 of 1000 COVID-19, we know the numerator (deaths) but not denominator (cases), 2% die - 20 of 1000 - but maybe it's 3.4%. The deaths by decade of age are around 1% for people through their forties at least, when the overall mortality rate as said to be 2%by toddlose - Hockey

I couldn’t agree more with the above statements. What’s even more concerning is our recent game with Quinnipiac, which is a bubble team at best.by toddlose - Hockey

Re: 2019-12-06: Cornell 3 Harvard 1 - 4 years ago
Trotsky drs48 .....thought I heard a reference to "65-70%" Red fans. The Harvard video announcers (who were fine AFAIC) said whereas most years it's 60/40 Cornell fans, this year it was 70/30. Thompson will be interesting. A team on a roll can start to generate a lot of buzz. I was actually going to state something along those lines. The game at Princeton is getting extremely scby toddlose - Hockey

Swampy Beeeej Swampy Jim Hyla KenP profudge I'm going with son and friend and brother and my wife - we could each put a ziplock of Snickers in pockets and meet up with you inside ? Apparently this is a tradition that started after I left. What's the deal with the snickers? 1: I always give them to the band, home or away. 2: For 20 years, or so, in the second intermission I've thrown them tby toddlose - Hockey

Re: 2019-02-02: #13 Cornell at RPI - 5 years ago
Beeeej For what it's worth, I would happily spend the next ten years slightly dehydrated if it meant Cornell would win the 2019 NC. That was the question, right? Haha. That was the question. I was going to answer it as well. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t be willing to give up personal well being. I would take a prolongated absence from the ncaa tournament as punishment for NC this year however.by toddlose - Hockey

Trotsky I'm sure I'm late to the party but why is Saint Anselm (W) not listed in the poll when they are first in PWR? Are they ineligible?by toddlose - Hockey
