Re: UND vs Cornell in Jan. - 14 years ago
But going to Ithaca just once and only eating at a bar is like going to NYC and only eating street hotdogs. Take it easy, Delta. Why don't you sit this next one out, stop talking for a while. Despite DeltaOne's hyperbole, there are some good places to eat in Ithaca but it's not like it's a culinary mecca. If you're going to CTown, Rulloff's is the best place to go. If you're going downtown,by tretiak - Hockey
Re: Soon... but not soon enough... - 14 years ago
so doug did you drunk dial o'byrne before or after starting this thread? p.s. kensy came out of the penalty box when he was sprung on that game-winning breakaway goal against harvard. that was one of the best recent cornell hockey momentsby tretiak - Hockey
Re: Alumni In The Pros - August 2009 - 14 years ago
i can't find the press release, but i'm pretty sure barlow will be playing in the echl with the florida everblades next year. no nhl team signed him.by tretiak - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the pros - June 2009 - 14 years ago
Tretiak, took the words right out of my mouth. You owe me a coke. Were you the one that commented on the River Avenue Blues live draftblog? Hooray for slow work days...by tretiak - Hockey
Milo taken by Yankees in MLB Draft - 14 years ago
I don't know if this is the right place to put it, but the Yankees took Justin Milo in the 37th round of the MLB draft.by tretiak - Hockey
Re: gotovets - 14 years ago
rushing people into the organization seems somewhat ironic coming from one of the biggest busts in draft history...by tretiak - Hockey
Re: Goalie Recruit For This Fall (Omar Kanji) - 15 years ago
if you want to play college/nhl in canada you play junior. in the states you can make the jump from high school to college/nhl. kudos to omar for being one of the few to make the leap.by tretiak - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - April 2009 - 15 years ago
salacious? mark messier was a great player but a cheap shot artist like current ranger sean avery (except with more talent and without the appreciation for a good purse). now denis potvin, there was a guy who played clean and hard.by tretiak - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - April 2009 - 15 years ago
More infamous than Dunbars? (note: I love Dunbars) The official story is that the bodyguards were hired to stay with the cup at all times to prevent further damage. The conspiracy theory is that the NHL was so embarassed by Messier taking it to Scores they hired permanent bodyguards to prevent future negative publicity for the cup and NHL. While we all love Dunbars, Scores is slightly moreby tretiak - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - April 2009 - 15 years ago
i like how they casually ignore the most infamous place the cup has gone...a nyc strip club. mark messier is an absolute dinkbagby tretiak - Hockey
Re: Cornell Hockey in 2009-2010 - 15 years ago
Where did you read he will be leaving? 1st round pick + hobey baker finalist + national championship = nothing left to prove in college as much as it pains me to root for a flyer, i hope van riemsdyk owns him in the nhlby tretiak - Hockey
Re: Cornell Hockey in 2009-2010 - 15 years ago
BU is going to lose a lot of big guns on offense who accounted for about half of their goal scoring during the season. Higgins, Yip, Lawrence, McCarthy and Gilroy are all seniors. Gilroy was also much more to the team than a goal scorer. Colin Wilson (17/38/55 in 43 games) will also leave, assuming he doesn't get hurt patting himself too hard on the back... For those who watched the frozen fby tretiak - Hockey
Re: TBRW Awards - 15 years ago
I agree with the choice of Greening for leadership, but doesn't the first sentence portray him more as a whiner who cried about every call? I'd say he led more by example, letting his work ethic and monster hits do his talking for him.by tretiak - Hockey
Re: Speed Game - 15 years ago
I also did not see anyone who could blast the puck from the blueline. Mike Devin has a ferocious shot (I speak from experience). He also has no accuracy with it...by tretiak - Hockey
Re: Scrivens inability in big games - 15 years ago
Whether or not we would "trade Scrivens" or simply acknowledge mediocre play, he certainly should have stopped goals 2 & 3 last night. They were not difficult shots, with the second occurring at an angle outside of the circle and the third slipped under his stick when he was caught cheating to move right. The 2nd goal was one I know he wishes he had back, but the BSU kid did pickby tretiak - Hockey

Re: Hobey Baker finalists - 15 years ago
if colin wilson wins the hobey, maybe dustin tokarski will come out of nowhere and rob him...again. still bitterby tretiak - Hockey
Re: RPI 0 at Cornell 0 (3rd period) - 15 years ago
scoop85 I've never seen a goalie at this level of hockey who seems so clueless out of the net...while being simultaneously utterly confident in his puckhandling skills. Patrick Roy was so enraged at being overlooked that he ripped another door off its hingeby tretiak - Hockey
Re: Cornell 1 at Yale 3 (3rd period) - 15 years ago
The only advantage to a weakening Canadian dollar is that they might qualify for more aid. As international students, they're not eligible for FAFSA and other financial aid packages open only to Americans, which means less aid.by tretiak - Hockey

"(yale player) is back on the ice after serving his 10 minute-game misconduct." hilarious.by tretiak - Hockey
Re: Cornell 0 at Yale 1 (1st intermission) - 15 years ago
can someone explain to me how you post-up on scrivens? maybe we can hit a three-pointer from beyond the blue-line while we're at it!by tretiak - Hockey

Perhaps he was just saying, "Okay, now that the game's over, let's go get some fried chicken. I prefer dark meat." it's winner winner chicken dinner... losers get nothing!by tretiak - Hockey
UVM on comcast - 15 years ago
for those who have comcast cable, they're currently showing providence/uvm (1st period). probably a tape delay.by tretiak - Hockey

Another thing: remember how great Seminoff was as a freshman? That Jared seems to have re-emerged this weekend. I wonder whether he had long, nagging injuries that have finally healed. Anyway, the last few periods he's been a beast. i think seminoff has been a defensive force for most of the year. remember schafer pairs him with b nash on the top pk unit, especially on lengthy 5-on-3s. he's reaby tretiak - Hockey

That guard in N has some sharp eyes. it's good to see that the collegetown creeper has been fully rehabilitated and can now function as a positive member of societyby tretiak - Hockey

according to the announcer, for clarkson this tie was like kissing your really hot sister.by tretiak - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros, January 2009 - 15 years ago
steve moore and steve kampfer would like to disagree...while the song and dance in the nhl can be annoying, there needs to be some set of gentlemanly rules to police the most dangerous and cowardly acts in fightingby tretiak - Hockey
Re: Important message to ice hockey ticket holders - 15 years ago
really, the most offensive part of the end of that game was the michigan fans chanting "fuck you state?" how about kampfer (coming back from a fractured skull and neck injury earlier this year) getting sucker-punched from behind like bertuzzi-moore and then slashed on the neck? while i'm 22 and from nj (i swear a ton), when i have kids i'd be a lot less afraid of them hearing fuck thanby tretiak - Hockey
