Name that game... - 4 years ago
cleaning out a closet the other day, and I came across this old photo of a game against Providence. Kind of fitting, as that was the last game of this past season. Bonus points if you can name the specific game...by Chris H82 - Hockey
Re: Bracketology 2019 - 5 years ago
scoop85 ugarte scoop85 More of this pleaseMy son was 9 months old and I woke him up yelling when Barlow scored that goal and I reminded my wife of it when I watched that clip and let me tell you she is not even a little less mad about it. You mean my wife isn’t the only one who thinks screaming at the tube during a Cornell game is insane? You've got company here - I'll wager lots of company!by Chris H82 - Hockey
Re: Cornell football 2018 - 5 years ago
I went to that Stanford game - we all went nuts when we got a first down. But my best memory is when the Stanford Tree (mascot) came out on the field, the Cornell crowd (not a small group) stood up and, in the best Lynah tradition, started pointing and chanting "What the F#$% is that? What the F#$% is that?...". Made me proud to be a Cornell grad.by Chris H82 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2018 - 5 years ago
Like Trotsky, I too could use some remedial lax education. But here's a theory (which is mine). After watching the reply a couple of times, it looks like the Syracuse player's left (warding) arm went in between the Cornell defenseman's stick and body, thus pulling the Cornell player into him (and onto him) as he lost his balance. So was the penalty on the Syracuse player? Or is this theory the rby Chris H82 - Other Sports

I did a quick check on the start of the women's game on 1/30; free, but low-res as noted.by Chris H82 - Hockey
Re: Clarkson game 2/9 - broadcast? - 6 years ago
Thanks for the link, it appears that they'll be broadcasting the women's game on Jan 30. I'll test that to see if it works, and will post my results.by Chris H82 - Hockey
Clarkson game 2/9 - broadcast? - 6 years ago
Does anyone know if the Clarkson game on Feb 9 will be broadcast on anything beyond WHCU radio? I'm assuming that since it's a non-Ivy game, ILN won't show it? Thinking about getting a watch party together (kind of a long trip from Seattle to Potsdam), but gotta make sure we can see it before I set up the group invite!by Chris H82 - Hockey
Re: Football: Columbia to end the season instead of Penn? - 6 years ago
For the whole football factory thing, we had a history of playing both sides of it back in the 20s. My grandfather was the tackle/placekicker on the early 20s unbeaten powerhouse teams. They were invited to play in the 1923 Rose Bowl, but the university turned down the invitation because fall term finals were after the New Year break, and the team wouldn't have made it back to Ithaca in time. One thing to also be aware of when trying to tie into ESPN3 from overseas (based on personal experience) - ESPN may not allow the stream to go to an overseas IP address, so you may have to first log into a VPN such as HideMyAss (you'd have to set up an account - $), pick a US-based host location, then connect to ESPN3. The extra connection layer can slow down the stream..by Chris H82 - Hockey

Re: Streaming of the ILDN - 7 years ago
As Marty and Kyle noted, it's super convenient for seeing (or hearing) a variety of content. Beyond channels like ILDN, MLB, Netflix, Hulu, there is a broad range of ways to easily put on-line content to your entertainment system. The YouTube channel will interact with your phone (makes it easy to quickly see a link on the big screen). I use the TuneIn radio channel to connect to WHCU and listenby Chris H82 - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs Penn - 9 years ago
Josh '99 Trotsky KeithK Chris H82 As a former freshman team kicker in the late 70s, I'd think that would be a spot that could be filled without too much problem. With the growth of youth soccer these days, there are lots of kids with strong legs out there. Can't they recruit someone off the soccer team, a la Steven Hauschka? Soccer and football are the same season. Getting someone to switch froby Chris H82 - Other Sports

Re: Alumni in the NFL - 9 years ago
ugarte Chris H82 Bryan Walters was one of the last cuts by the Seahawks at the 53-man roster deadline, but was added back the next day. Playing time percentage isn't in the Gamebook yet but he was used as a punt returner at least once (fair catch). No receptions or tackles. And the Seattle Times reports today that Walters now has the punt-return job.by Chris H82 - Other Sports

I ordered 2 on Tuesday, paid for regular shipping, .....and got home from work today(Thursday) here in Seattle to find the box sitting on my doorstep! These are awesome shirts - TOTAL shout-out to all the folks who pulled this together so quickly. Makes me proud to be a Cornellian. LGR! Re: So, who is going to start the Cornell Hockey Podcast - 18 years ago
JTW - Yeah, it sounds lame, but between 10+ hours a day of work (crazy project to coordinate for my company) and 2.5 hours of commuting a day (the only school my wife and I could find that works for our kids is 130 km from my office, so guess who does the commute), so by Friday night I look like this- Oh well....by Chris H82 - Hockey
Re: So, who is going to start the Cornell Hockey Podcast - 18 years ago
I'd greatly appreciate a podcast (or similar) of the game broadcasts. Living in Southern Italy means that a 7 pm start time on the East Coast is 1 am start time here - even with the late-night culture here, I'm usually a zombie by 11 pm on Friday nights!by Chris H82 - Hockey
