Re: Cornell-Bemidji NCAA regionals postgame - 15 years ago
Trotskyoceanst412003, 2005, and 2006 made sure that other teams paid for their mistakes. This team never had that killer instinct (except for maybe Barlow during the playoff run), and no lead was ever really safe it seemed. It's hard to tell whether this was an absence of killer instinct or just killers. The three teams mentioned were incredibly intimidating. This year's team did not have thaby lynah80 - Hockey

Dpperk29Most respected opponent - Brian Leitch, Quinnipiac or Lee Jubinville, Princeton Least respected opponent - Kevin DeVirgilio, St. Lawrence. That kid has had my hate since he through one of the most dirty spears I have ever seen during 2005-2006, and has just kept doing it ever since. Most respected: Yale: Arcobello, Backmanby lynah80 - Hockey

Re: Scrivens inability in big games - 15 years ago
Josh '99CUontheslopesI have to agree. Scrivens just has not been good in big games. In fact, he hasn't been serviceable on many occasions. This season alone we had a number of big big games and he really let us down in many of them. Of course, he had some good games, but all of them seemed to come against lesser opponents. For example: BU@MSG - terrible North Dakota - absolutely awful Yale Eby lynah80 - Hockey

Re: Scrivens inability in big games - 15 years ago
tretiakWhether or not we would "trade Scrivens" or simply acknowledge mediocre play, he certainly should have stopped goals 2 & 3 last night. They were not difficult shots, with the second occurring at an angle outside of the circle and the third slipped under his stick when he was caught cheating to move right. The 2nd goal was one I know he wishes he had back, but the BSU kid diby lynah80 - Hockey
Bemidji vs Hockey East - 15 years ago
I don't think it matters who roots for Bemidji. They don't stand a chance against either Hockey East team.by lynah80 - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Bemidji NCAA regionals postgame - 15 years ago
Jim Hyla Fourth, I'd like to second whoever wrote about how difficult it is to compete with the scholarship schools. Yale and Princeton have turned around with good coaches, but I have to wonder how important the easy tuition issue is. Hopefully, the university itself is part of the appeal when a hockey player picks a school. In that regard, I think everyone would agree that Cornell has a lotby lynah80 - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Bemidji NCAA regionals postgame - 15 years ago
DafatoneLast I counted, there are 66 D1 teams. So 39th/66 is somewhere around 40%. I'm too lazy to do the math. Normally, I think we get too lazy with the puck up top on the PP, and don't try to force it down low enough. Today, we did the opposite. I kept yelling at the TV "cycle it up top!" We kept forcing the puck down low and losing it on the PP. Oh well. 58 D1 teams. 1by lynah80 - Hockey
Re: NCAA Regional Final: Cornell (1) vs. Bemidji (3) - 3rd Period - 15 years ago
Lowell '99TimVLowell '99TimVugarte16 seed in hockey is NOT equivalent to the 64 seed in basketball. Jesus H. Christ. Totally agree. That was so stupid.... What is it the equivalent of then, exactly? A 49 seed? Bemidji wasn't just a 4 seed; they were clearly the last team in the tournament. While the difference between #1 and #64 in basketball is much, much bigger than #1 and #16 in hockby lynah80 - Hockey

TimVlynah80 The team will miss Mugford, Michael Kennedy, Seminoff, the two Davenports and Punches... What- you don't think we'll miss Barlow??? Sorry, my mistake. He will be a huge loss.by lynah80 - Hockey
Re: NCAA Regional Final: Cornell (1) vs. Bemidji (4) - 3rd Period - 15 years ago
GermI hope we weren't looking ahead to a FF tilt against Miami.... It looked like we were in slow motion in the 3rd period. And as soon as they put up that stat about us owning the 3rd period against NE things went south. With Shafer's system I don't think we will EVER have speed and this is tough for me to digest. Maybe we were too tired from our game last night? Our fate in the NCAAsby lynah80 - Hockey

imafrshmnBemidji played like a pretty good team tonight. Congrats to them. Our team went about as far as they could this year, and went the last few games w/o the Devin bros. If Riley stays, next year should shape up to be very competitive. Overall a very good season for the Big Red at 22-10-4. With a healthier team, they could have won tonight. It was tough to watch Gallagher limp aroundby lynah80 - Hockey
Re: Must read information!!! - 15 years ago
BeaverloverESPN just stated that there is some illegal activity with electronic means of communication. They just said scouts are only allowed to take hand written notes but there are some with portable computers. As stated in section 164 of the NCAA rule book, anyone caught with illegal means of communication will be escorted off the premises and their device will be confiscated. Travis 02Either this ustream link or the justin.tv/insgadget stream should work. both seem to be showing ESPNU on and off, the guy from justin.tv has stated he'll have the CU-Bemidji on for tonight. In chat this afternoon, Insgadget gave me the ustream link that I posted above. ESPNU shuts him down at justin.tv somehow.by lynah80 - Hockey

Re: NC$$ games Saturday 3/28/09 - 15 years ago
CowbellGuySeriously, can we get back to the issue of the puck magically passing through the net, at an angle without any significant loss in energy? It didn't slow down at all after, as you all claim, it passed through the net. I still maintain that there's no way a puck at any speed could deform the netting (or the puck) enough to pass through without putting a hole in it, or dissipating enoughby lynah80 - Hockey

Al DeFlorioBarlow, R. Nash, and Gallagher skating on a line for the game-winner. Was that intentional or were they in the middle of a line change? Gallagher played an amazing game. Right place, right time. I hope he isn't doing any serious harm to himself though.by lynah80 - Hockey

Al DeFloriolynah80Al DeFlorioreilly83...the WCHA wiped out. That was my secret wish. Never a secret with me. Minn Duluth advanced last night. Yes, we both know that. My post said "we came this close..." and reilly said it was his "secret wish" that it had happened. If not for the Hobey finalist's brain fart, it would have happened. Ok, thanks.by lynah80 - Hockey
