Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Cornell at Harvard, 1/26 - 2 months ago
BearLover chimpfood The announcers have been repeating the same exact thing for about 5 minutes now. They spent way too much time talking about the PWR. Though, it was refreshing to hear a focus on the PWR rather than the conference standings. The Cornell announcers spend way too much time on the ECAC standings when it’s the PWR ranking that really matters. The Harvard announcers were also wrongby marty - Hockey

billhoward Wow! I thought I was good at thread-drift. There is competition and that improves the breed. Thank you for keeping me on my toes. The high-end clothes if they can't or shouldn't be burned, could be shredded. They aren't produced in quantities like Zara. They aren't quirks that were done up in advance for the team that wound up losing the Super Bowl. So it's manageable. But if you sby marty - John Spencer Is Dead

billhoward Every pub wants highly qualified readers. Especially the ones with money: I love the WSJ fashions for men (and women). A man's winter parka, there may be three featured: $2,000, $1,000, and the $695 bargain choice. I could not write that with a straight face. As SI cuts back, it less of a high-end magazine. No more George Plimpton. Since I wouldn't mind wearing George's clothesby marty - John Spencer Is Dead

Your comment was bad and you should feel bad. Unfortunately, Grady spends too many words on random tangents and not enough on the game itself. He needs to track the action better. I love him. When Grady was there, they were the Binghamton Senators. Now they’re gone, too.Sorry. Someone needs to take him aside and explain nobody gives a shit about the Binghamton Senators. Thanks, Bill. I remember Ziff Davis mostly for double billing me for a magazine and then threatening collection (IIRC). I do remember that the only way a poor guy like me living in suburban Chicago could get their attention was to write a complaint to the NYS AG (Louis Lefkowitz?). Suddenly I was no longer invisible and was treated like a VIP.by marty - John Spencer Is Dead

BearLover On Quinnipiac’s SH goal, can someone explain why Rego played the guy with the puck rather than the open man (Z. Tupker)? Just a mistake? Tupker’s goal was way too easy. Can you explain why you would ask a question of us that you should ask of Rego?by marty - Hockey

Bill, I thought you would comment but really wondered if you have ever heard of this: It was she who oversaw the “advance text” portion of the mag, stories that mostly ran only in subscriber issues (versus newsstand), and only then for subscribers in affluent zip codes.by marty - John Spencer Is Dead

adamw TrotskyIt is the right thing to do. The temptation will be to make the games best-of-three. TBH, I'd back that as well. Anything to stop the factory schools with big rinks from buying their way to the F4, the way it is now. This makes no sense, Mr. I Hate Sports Journalists. The factory schools with big rinks are all the ones clamoring to go back to campus - precisely because they Dby marty - Hockey

scoop85 The neutral site model simply hasn’t worked. Time for a change. It worked fine when there were only 12 teams. That may have been the newness of the format or the fact that you knew you would see two of the teams advance to the Frozen Four. It also might have been that the the era of live sports attendance hadn't started to wane. I felt more excitement then too. As an alternativeby marty - Hockey

The Rancor I didn't want to start another thread, but feel free to move if in the wrong space: NCAA Hockey Regionals to Home Sites It started with a game between Minnesota State and Harvard in Albany, N.Y. The crowd was sparse enough to count by hand — in a venue that seats more than 10,000. Pandemic-restricted crowds were larger. But this was a Covid restricted event. Cornell95 I dont want to jinx anything starting a game thread but a reminder that the game Friday starts at 9pm ET (7pm MT) Saturday game is 7pm ET looks like the stream on PAC12 Insider is free (?) If anyone here knows how to get at a replay of the game please post! I haven't found it in 3 of the apps but did find one of ASU's games available.by marty - Hockey

Dafatone chimpfood Dafatone ASU deserves to lose after their announcer gushed about how Cornell's dmen were afraid to go to a shootout. Would they even have a shootout if OT ended in a tie? No, right?yes, they would’ve. Huh. Well, it was still dumb. And why only the defensemen? Because the defenseman don't get a chance in the shootout???? I was listening to Jason. Re: ECAC 2024 Discussion Thread - 3 months ago
dbilmes The only good thing about the ECAC being so mediocore this year is that with the exception of games involving Q, there is a lot of parity in the league. Friday night, for example, Yale gave up the tying goal late in the third period only to respond with the winning goal just 40 seconds later. Brown, meanwhile, tied RPI on an extra-attacker goal with just 26 seconds remaining and then wonby marty - Hockey
