Re: Ivy League Meets Today... - 17 years ago
billhowardA playoff increases the odds of two Ivy teams going to the tournament: the playoff winner and the regular season champ which, if upset in the playoffs, will argue it also deserves a shot since it's as good as the third-best team in another conference that got three bids. I call bull. When's the last time the Ivy champ would have made it as an at large team? It's not about deservingby Chris '03 - Other Sports
Re: Ivy League Meets Today... - 17 years ago
I can see the Ivy presidents doing something dumb like saying there will be a tournament but it will be the week of the first round of the NCAAs. The Ivy League will give up its NCAA bid so the student athletes can focus on spring break.by Chris '03 - Other Sports
Number of times a post is edited - 17 years ago
This isn't a big deal, but I noticed while repeatedly editing the out of town scoreboard last weekend, that the number of times edited listed at the bottom seemed to be pretty random. Once it got past a few, it would randomly be somewhere between 7 and 9. I wasn't paying close attention to it but I know I edited the post more than 8 times. I just thought I'd point it out to see if anyone noticby Chris '03 - Hockey
Re: Cornell v. Iowa 12/30 (basketball) - 17 years ago
That's 12:05 central time I presume. Thanks for the heads up. I wonder when they'll tell Cornell. And for that matter I wonder what sort of CU presence there will be. Have to guess Skorton will head back for the game.by Chris '03 - Other Sports

Re: Revenue Sports? - 17 years ago
CornellFanIs hockey really a revenue sport for Cornell? There is actually more money to be made in basketball-- that is, if the team improved. When will the University realize that the basketball team can do more for the school than the hockey team? (1) Newman Arena holds more than Lynah-- so if there was a demand for tickets, the University would make more cash from the basketball games. (by Chris '03 - Other Sports

SLU @ Clarkson- Now (7PM Tues.) Free Video. - 17 years ago
Watch the north country rivals face off with free video: EDIT: What is Clarkson wearing? The stream isn't great quality but it looks like both teams wearing not so flattering throwbacks (CCT in particular).by Chris '03 - Hockey
Re: All-Access reply from Athletics Dep't - 17 years ago
oceanst41 The tough thing for Cornell is that there aren't many options out there as alternatives. It sounds like it's either go with CSTV or do it themselves. Who knows, they might be leaning towards the latter. Princeton and Dartmouth started using these folks this year: Dartmouth charges $60 for 12 months or $8/month. Princeton also offers a forty buck 6 month pass. I have no way ofby Chris '03 - Hockey

Choking away leads late is becoming way too common with this team...that was tough to listen to.by Chris '03 - Other Sports

Re: Cornell 6 Union 0 postgame (12/2/06) - 17 years ago
TrotskyebilmesMy dad, ever the analyst, pointed out that after falling behind 3-0 last night, we scored 9 straight goals. We noted on the game thread that the last time Cornell scored 10 unanswered goals, they then immediately lost the 2 QF games against Clarkson in March '05. Memento Mori. I seem to recall a happier ending in '05... until Barry Tallickson that is...by Chris '03 - Hockey
Re: dressing 3 goalies - 17 years ago
Al DeFlorioMRN oneMaybe two goalies and the extra bench space for cleaner line changes is more valuable than a third goalie you don't plan to play. Right. That must be it. I don't think it's THAT far fetched. Of course with the tunnell behind the bench now, there's plenty of space to hang out.by Chris '03 - Hockey
Re: Out of Town Scoreboard- Sat. 12/2/06 - 17 years ago
And Arkansas has scored 21 straight points since the half to storm back against Florida. It's 21-17 with 4 to go in the 3rd. Ann Arbor is a festive place about now...by Chris '03 - Hockey

Also out of town and of note, mens hoops goes for its first in season tourney title since (gulp) 1990 tonight at host William & Mary (of insensitive feather mascot fame). Tip is about now.by Chris '03 - Hockey

Re: Separate ushers-vs.-fans game thread? - 17 years ago
jtwcornell91Is shouting "FIRE" in a crowded hockey rink really such a good idea? Well considering the response the fire alarms got last year(?), I'm not sure it would do too much.by Chris '03 - Hockey
Re: Separate ushers-vs.-fans game thread? - 17 years ago
KillerkaelistusScersk '97, If someone could organize this cheer at a game, I think it would be D*MN funny: Andy Noel flings puppies into deep holes What if a chant goes up where one side of the rink does "FI-RE" and the other side responds "AN-DY"? That would have an interesting ring to it. You're giving people WAY too much credit.by Chris '03 - Hockey

Of course this comes two weeks after San Antonio visited Hartford. The way the AHL scheduling works, they'll probably be back in 2012.by Chris '03 - Hockey
Re: We want more..... - 17 years ago
I think the structure arrived somewhere around the 2000-01 season. My freshman year was still pretty free form with the sieves/IAYF. Now you'd get looked at funny for not conforming to 8(7)/4 regardless of the game situation.by Chris '03 - Hockey
Re: Separate ushers-vs.-fans game thread? - 17 years ago
While I hated the "let's chant goalie phone numbers" craze of a few years ago, it would be funny to rattle off Andy's phone number or license plate or some such...by Chris '03 - Hockey
