Re: RIT Cancels 2020-2021 Hockey Season - 3 years ago
Dear alumni, parents, friends and fans of the Big Red… This evening the Ivy League Presidents will announce that the pause on athletics competition will continue through winter as the global COVID-19 pandemic has worsened. The earliest any of our teams will have a chance to compete will be March 1, and only if conditions improve and are deemed safe to do so. Though there are promising repoby getred - Hockey
Re: Video about 2019-2020 Season - 4 years ago
Thank you...love it! (Being old, though, I think it would be fantastic if you could post an alternative version without the music, and just the play-by-play!)by getred - Hockey

The “no” came this afternoon from the administration: “...the pep band will not be allowed to play or attend, as a group, the remaining hockey games this season. This restriction includes our home games this weekend and future games away.”by getred - Hockey

And our old guys in Section O had a 4 point weekend as well, beating the Clarkson band and the SLUt sign guy!by getred - Hockey

Re: RPI 1 @ Cornell 1 11/19 Postgame - 18 years ago
Just for the record, RPI fans retain the title as "Worst Fans in the ECAC"...ignorant of the rules of the game...happy with a tie. And the pusswods stole our signs and airhorns (we were the "old guys" in Section O.) They just suck. Made the tie feel even worse. Well, at least we won't see them in March.by getred - Hockey
Re: Possible Viewing Location in Richmond, VA - 19 years ago
I just checked with Bailey's, and the hostess said they WILL show the game (but she was fairly confused, thinking game time was 4PM)..who knows, worth a trip to check it out!by getred - Hockey

Re: Pre-Frosh Back Again - 21 years ago
Well, I can attest that at least one lobster hit the ice during Fish & Fowl this year. (Greg, in my experience, using a "shot put" style -- rather than a high, arking throw -- avoids shell breakage and gives you a nice spinning finish on the ice.)by getred - Hockey

Re: Suggestions for eLynah Forum - 22 years ago
And while we're asking, how 'bout a "New Scan" feature like that on the old CHDF? (With the wonderfully high volume of traffic, it would be great to be able to look at only the new messages each time we drop in.) And again, thanks Age for making this all possible (and for being good-humored about our requests)!by getred - Hockey
Re: Travis Mayer - 22 years ago
From today's New York Times: "When the Cornell freshman was asked what was more daunting, being an Ivy League student or staring down the ledge of a moguls hill, he answered: 'You could face a cataclysmic explosion on the moguls course. At Cornell, it's more of a gradual bloodletting.'" Of course, I'd argue that it is entirely possible to face a cataclysmic explosion at Cornell.by getred - Hockey
Re: Music - 22 years ago
I'm with Lowell. Alternative lyrics, unless they're very witty (and lyrical), generally sound pretty lame. As to "Underbone," it does pre-date Underhill, going back to at least the late '70s. However, as any trumpet can tell you, the correct lyrics to Underbone are, and always have been, thus: Trombones Suck, Trombones Suck, Trombones Suck, Trombones Suck, Trombones Suck, Trombonesby getred - Hockey
