Ken711 Big time commitment alert, Jackson Cox. Great pickup, but it’s a pleasant surprise that in this new era of pay for play that a guy would (presumably) turn down money from a P4 program to go to an Ivy. I just saw a 3* RB who had a Cornell offer committed to Michigan. If we’re in the same recruiting circles as Ole Miss and Michigan, we’re surely raising our talent level over the past decadby scoop85 - Other Sports

stereax scoop85 stereax cbuckser I don't subscribe to EP Premium. Would you be able to copy and paste the writeups? I can do you one better. Can you link Cornoyer’s profile too? Should be at the bottom! Ok, I see that—thanks.by scoop85 - Hockey

Re: Future Predictions - 12 days ago
chimpfood With the hope of sparking some conversation, here are my three biggest questions for our returning players next year. 1. Can Castagna put up points? You don’t have to watch too much of his game to see how he went in the third round but Castagna had not put up points for us like I would expect. If he can make the jump to challenge Walsh to be our top scorer that would be a massive hby scoop85 - Hockey
Re: AI analytics - 13 days ago
stereax billhoward Anytime analytics are being used for "fan engagement" ... one cringes. Wonder how long for "data-driven storytelling" before degrading to its half-life. It's possible Cornell students of today find some of this engaging. Or not. Analytics are fun. I for one would like to know xGF and shit like that. AI... not so much. chimpfood Walsh and Bancroft on the bruins dev camp roster. Walsh listed as limited to off ice activity, I think he had a cast/sling this spring so not surprising. Also on the roster is Ben Robertson. Ben who?by scoop85 - Hockey

Men’s Basketball Recruits 2025 - 18 days ago
The incoming class was recently released, with 4 freshmen and 2 transfers: Sepp, the transfer from Valparaiso, has been an excellent rebounder his 1st two years and will provide some much needed muscle under the boards. Fishburn, the JUCO transfer, is a big guard who can score; we’ll see how well he transitions to the D1 level, but he looks like a guy who can be in the rotation. Burbach, whoby scoop85 - Other Sports

stereax Ken711 Last week, Walker Wallace, a first-team All-Ivy League long stick midfielder, helped the Cornell men's lacrosse team win the national title. Now, the Richmond native is transferring to #UVa to play football. He will be a tight end for the Cavaliers. To play football?? Yes, for football. Re: New assistant coach - 27 days ago
stereax Weder Chris Brown, previously the associate head coach at Alaska Fairbanks, has joined the coaching staff: Anyone know anything about him? The bio in the announcement is pretty comprehensive. One issue I see is that he's never coached at an elite academic school, so there will be a learning curve in recruiting the type of player we look for. But I'm confident Casey and Flanagan will beby scoop85 - Hockey

Chris H82 I think this answers the question of "Are we gonna pick up anyone from the CHL for next season?" And a goalie, no less. That’ll provide an interesting dynamic. I still assume the job is Keopple’s unless he isn’t up to the task. EDIT: not sure if the kid is coming this fall, but perhaps that’s unlikely.by scoop85 - Hockey

djk26 I am very late to this particular party (regarding the new Field House), but is the idea that the Field House will host lacrosse games? It would be cool to see early season games better attended, if the national championship can stir up more interest on campus. Does anyone know when it will open and what the seating capacity will be? Yes, they’ll be able to play games in the new field houby scoop85 - Other Sports
Re: CJ KIRST WINS 2025 TEWAARATON AWARD - 4 weeks ago
chimpfood I would guess it’s Goldstein Firth and Nicolic on attack next year. Firth and Goldstein produce enough that they need to be on attack and Nicolic has size that we are gonna need after we lose CJ and Hugh. I think Nicolic stays at midfield, with Firth, Goldstein, and freshman Nurry the most likely attack line.by scoop85 - Other Sports

Swampy Chris '03 Don't think this excellent piece from the Daily Orange has been shared here yet: It's an excellent article, except for one major factual error: "Richie Moran established Cornell’s program in the modern era of college lacrosse." I don't wish to diminish Richie in any way, but the honor of establishing Cornell as a lacrosse power should go to Ned Harkness. In 194by scoop85 - Other Sports

mike1960 marty mike1960 Al DeFlorio mike1960 BearLover mike1960 I just re-watched the 4th quarter. MD kind of self destructed. Highly unusual for a Tillman team. 2 failed clears. An offsides. An offensive hold. That's four possessions lost when they desperately needed them. I would give Cornell more credit. All year long they’ve had an incredible ride and outlasted teams in the second half. Marylby scoop85 - Other Sports

Chris H82 For those who weren't there, I've put some photos from the tailgate party and the post-game celebration on a photo-sharing website: At the tailgate, evidently there is a recent (?) tradition of passing out shots of Fireball (I'm guessing it's that since it's Red) and then a booster/alumni (could be both?) makes a toast to the team and the crowd. It was really cool. Thanks so mucby scoop85 - Other Sports

JasonN95 Link to an excellent (in my opinion) condensed version of the game: If you want to watch such for other Cornell games from this season, I recommend checking that channel, Cuse Crease Highlights, first to see if they did a version. There's another YouTube channel, College Lacrosse, that does them and gets a lot more views, but their versions have inferior video quality, an annoying waby scoop85 - Other Sports

upprdeck Celebration on campus today around 4:45 the email says. One sad thing about LAX is winning after all the kids for most colleges have gone home. I suspect we will see recognition at a hockey game perhaps this fall. I'll be at reunion in a couple of weeks. I hope Connor is around to present a talk about the season.by scoop85 - Other Sports

Robb tretiak What a game. What a team. They went wire to wire as the dominant team this year - what a strange feeling. I loved Buzcek's emotions at the end. What a coach. WD > MD. Cornell are the fucking champions. LGR!Yesssssss!!! Casual fan question: I think I can guess MD, but the only WD I know is 40. I arrived in Ithaca in 1981, just after our glorious 70’s run. We made the semis my senior year, but lost to a superior North Carolina team. I was in Rutgers stadium in 1987 when our undefeated team was stonewalled by Quint and lost to an inferior Hopkins team. And most painful of all was watching from the stands in 2009 when we had victory in our grasp and saw it slip away. 2022 was a great storby scoop85 - Other Sports
