Re: Cornell wrestling recruiting… - Yesterday
ugarte One of our top recruits, Sergio Vega, has switched his commitment to Oklahoma State. Real bummer and a sign of the times in a post-NIL world. Oklahoma State already made a big splash by hiring Penn State standout and Olympic gold medalist David Taylor to replace a retiring legend and you can already see the balance of power tilting even harder to a handful of elite programs. Re: Cornell soccer 2024 - 2 days ago
chimpfood That loss really hurts. I think all 3 of penn’s goals came off of crosses into the box which really reflects how our team is just too small. Friedberg also really hasn’t been impressive to me since his freshman year. RPI hasn’t updated yet but our NCAA tournament hopes are probably down to either winning out and losing too Penn in the Ivy final or just winning the Ivy tournament. Goodby scoop85 - Other Sports

chimpfood Concede right before half on penn’s only real chance of the game, sucks. Great set piece by Penn, but came as a result of a suspect foul call against us. And contrary to the announcers, I thought the Penn penalty leading to our PK goal was deserved.by scoop85 - Other Sports

Re: Cornell-Bucknell football October 19 - 3 days ago
Al DeFlorio Chris H82 No we're winning. It's a tough crowd.... Yes. This "tough crowd" is appalled by 11 penalties for 105 yards in half a game. After yet more penalties, Bucknell scores with 14 seconds left to get within 27-14. We are giving Bucknell every opportunity to stay in this game, and besides the penalties our defense is getting exposed.by scoop85 - Other Sports

chimpfood Pretty calm 4-1 win. I hadn’t really realized but we’ve now been without kisa kiingi since the Syracuse game and we’ve still been hot. If we can get him back soon we’re going to be really dangerous. Shots were 25-2by scoop85 - Other Sports

VIEWfromK Stienburg was first star and MacDonald third star in AHL Colorado's season opener Friday. Each had a goal. MacDonald followed up with another third star Saturday, scoring again. Malott is wearing an A with AHL Kings. Bardreau wearing the C with Bridgeport.by scoop85 - Hockey

nycred Kenpom Preseason Ivy Rankings End of last season's ranks in parenthesis Princeton: 77(69) Yale: 109(90) Cornell: 168(103) Penn: 192(213) Columbia: 209(232) Brown: 243(191) Harvard: 259(228) Dartmouth: 314(336) The model seems very displeased with the fact that Brown lost Owusu-Anane. Harvard's drop can probably be attributed to the loss of Malik Mack. Princeton stays aboutby scoop85 - Other Sports

chimpfood scoop85 chimpfood scoop85 We’re 11th in RPI, With 25 at-large selections, if we finish reasonably well we should be in solid position for an at-large bid if we don’t win the ILT.Its still really tough with a weak Ivy League but I’m starting to become hopeful, just keep going one game at a time. Ivy’s overall RPI is 9th out of 22 conferences, so perhaps “weak” is an overstatement. The coby scoop85 - Other Sports

upprdeck why would he lose a spot at cornell? Its not like they have scholie limits to deal with. He would lose a spot if the CHL players aren’t in fact permitted to play NCAA hockey.by scoop85 - Hockey

scoop85 The wonderfully named Maddex Marmulak has left the BCHL and signed with a team in the Quebec Maritime Major Junior League. While players from the Canadian Major Juniors may be able to play NCAA hockey soon, Heisenberg has deleted Marmulak from our list of recruits; it seems unlikely he'll be Ithaca bound. billhoward There have been other slow posts from Cornell athletics PR. That shouldn't be. It may be that Cornell does not have enough people to handle about 15 sports in the fall and there is fall/winter overlap come October. Writing sports is not rocket science and Cornell could turn to students who are paid or, ah, AI could do it, too. At least one other Ivy school pays a veteran sportswriter (by scoop85 - Other Sports

Re: Cornell football 2024 - 4 weeks ago
Al DeFlorio Need a ground game. Defense opts for coverage over pass rush. Getting neither. Our running plays seemed to take forever to develop, and none of our RBs seemed to have any burst through the hole. Not sure if Eddy Tillman is injured, but 2 years ago in Hamilton he had a big game, and I don’t think he saw the field. On the positive side, we have several guys who can catch the ball, anby scoop85 - Other Sports

big29red Harvard just landed their 2nd 5* recruit! A lefty attack from Deerfield! Described as follows: “a taller Jeff Teat”- Oh well- maybe I’m over reacting about the lack of recruiting for this ‘26 cycle??? I assume we still have CB and JS as our coaches and they’re not checked out, or asleep at the wheel? ( I say this with just a bit of sarcasm)! Re: Cornell soccer 2024 - 4 weeks ago
chimpfood Yeah Bucknell’s keeper was really good. Bucknell never even had a chance so it was an easy win. I do think our finishing needs work though, Harris had a fantastic chance that he sent straight at the goalies feet and we had 10 high quality shots on goal to just 3 goals. The last goal also came with just 5 seconds to go and it was 1-0 the majority of the game so I need to see them build sby scoop85 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell soccer 2024 - 5 weeks ago
2-2 final. Aiden Martin hit the crossbar/post off a gorgeous play with about 5 minutes left, and Cornell controlled most of the last 30 minutes. But not our best performance for sure. Albany played tenaciously and had some skill. I think this was our first game this season on artificial turf, and we clearly struggled adjusting to the speed of the ball on the carpet.by scoop85 - Other Sports
