stereax Press release here. Recently retired Cornell men's hockey head coach Mike Schafer '86 will captain Team Big Red while Matt Hedge '07, vice president and senior wealth advisor for Tompkins Financial Advisors, will captain Team Racker. Casey Jones '90, the current Jay R. Bloom '77 Head Coach of Cornell Men's Hockey, will participate in the exhibition game, along with former Cornell plby Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Pep Band Should Not Travel - 25 days ago
stereax ursusminor When I read this thread early this morning, I did not at first realize this thread was from 2004, before a lot of the current players were born. I read the first post and wondered why someone stated that Schafer was resigning and not retiring. Can someone fill me in on what happened back then? Since I am an RPI alum, I do not recall. Perhaps he resigned his membership from Amazby Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs Maryland MENS LACROSSE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP 5/26/25 1 PM - 6 weeks ago
mike1960 12-10 Cornell. 1:08 left. Cornell ball. Last time out taken. I didn't think that was a ward by Big Hugh. He hit him with his shoulder, not arm. Less of a ward than the no call on Maryland. I say, having learned what a ward is an hour ago.by Dafatone - Other Sports
Re: HARVARD SUCKS - 7 weeks ago
BearLover Dafatone Here I am, all excited to see Harvard's roster get shredded by an apparent ban on international students (look, you gotta take joy in what you can), and all but seven guys on their roster are American. And only two on their women's roster. Everything is the worst. Um, let’s just hope he doesn’t target Cornell next. Because that would be a de facto death sentence for us.by Dafatone - Hockey

Re: Cow Bell Question - 2 months ago
It's not quite a standard Cornell C. The interior of the Cornell C has right angles, and the cowbell C has 45 degree turns around the interior.by Dafatone - Hockey

Re: 2025-26 Incoming Freshman and Transfers - 2 months ago
chimpfood pfibiger Heisenberg says MN Mankato freshman D Luke Ashton is transferring to Cornell. #2 d scorer, drafted 6th round last year.More importantly he’s 6 foot 6 6'6, 239 lbs, and somehow 6 PIM in 38 games last year.by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Ben Robertson transfer - 2 months ago
VIEWfromK BearLover Robertson has almost no chance of an NHL career. I wasn't even considering the possibility that Jacob MacDonald or Joakim Ryan would play in the NHL based on their time at Cornell yet both have played in the league. Maybe you wouldn't call it a career but since I don't think Cornell turns out finished products it's kind of hard to really know Also, important to rememberby Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Ben Robertson transfer - 2 months ago
HeafDog Dafatone There's so much we're never going to know. Maybe he loves non-contiguous states. Got a chuckle out of that. Though I would point out that Michigan does not hold an advantage over New York in that regard. Must be for some other reason. I was actually talking about this recently with someone. New York also qualifies, but so does every state with an island, which is less excitiby Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Ben Robertson transfer - 2 months ago
BearLover And now it’s official. I’m honestly curious. We have had 0 decommits among the 20 or so kids who were committed at the time Casey took over. Nobody else on the team has transferred out. Robertson has almost no chance of an NHL career. He was on the first D pairing, first PP unit, and alongside Rego got more TOI than anybody on the entire team. His team won back to back league championshby Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Recruits 2025 and Beyond - 2 months ago
I forgot that he was drafted after his freshman year. He wasn't bad at all. Just not terribly impressive. Showed some capability shooting and passing, though he wasn't a noticeable puck handler. Respectable defensively, but didn't really use his size well. He was big and not bad, and that must project well (if you're 6'5" and move in a way that isn't described as lumbering, you get attby Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Recruits 2025 and Beyond - 2 months ago
One player doesn't mean anything, but now is as good as time as any to note that our highest draft pick ever (14th overall), Sasha Pokulok, played two alright-but-not-great seasons for Cornell then never made the NHL.by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: 2025-26 Incoming Freshman and Transfers - 2 months ago
BearLover marty BearLover chimpfood We are losing 6 starting forwards and 4 starting defensemen and our goalie. Goalie is easiest to fill, probably just throw keopple in there, he’s earned it, but I’m sure Erick Roest also comes in this year to back him up. I think we’re actually in a fine spot in terms of forwards. The return of Devlin, Wallace, and Murray fills half the spots and we bring inby Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Ben Robertson transfer - 3 months ago
BearLover It is amazing how the events of the past ten days have completely sullied our miracle run in the ECAC playoffs and vs MSU. Maybe not to others, but to me they have. I went from being over the moon after the MSU game to being completely dejected just a few days later. OT heartbreaker to BU, eighth straight regional final loss. Best player leaves for the pros. Re: 2024-25 Players Graduating - 3 months ago
ER BearLover chimpfoodthis is a major inflection point for the long term prospects of the team and it hurts to see important pieces bailing. Robertson was THE most important piece. Cornell will likely have Walsh and Castagna for only one more season (though now even having them for one more season is in doubt). Robertson was going to be one of the best two players on the team next year and the beby Dafatone - Hockey
Re: ECAC 2025 - 3 months ago
BearLover Quinnipiac are going to be massive favorites next season. They are returning almost everyone and have at least five CHL studs coming in the fall. Everyone else in the conference (including Cornell) lost way too much to the portal/pros/graduation to compete with Quinnipiac. Wishing everyone on here, even the haters, a wonderful spring and summer. They have to get past the ECAC semiby Dafatone - Hockey

adamw DafatoneLooking up pairwise rankings on specific dates in those seasons is kind of a chore how so? Full disclosure: I did not do my due diligence before saying that. Looks easy on the chn mobile version of the pairwise. That being said, I'd still have to look up which dates are relevant and then plug them in.by Dafatone - Hockey

Dafatone Trotsky Will stereax chimpfood I think Caron Ryan might come in a year early. We need a center and I don’t think any of our other recruits coming this year are, and he’s put up good numbers in the BCHL. By the way, where did you guys hear about fisher? The Vees posted about it here. Possibly Justin Ertel? Weird ass development path tho. Full year at Northeastern and then full yearby Dafatone - Hockey

He will be assigned to Providence for the remainder of this season before a one-year entry level contract with the Bruins starts next season. Trotsky stereax upprdeck I didnt really take notes. I could see it live and knew of it happening. Even Shane was still off it looked.
