Re: 2024-25 MEN'S SCHEDULE - 2 months ago
ugarte BearLover scoop85 Trotsky If we're 70% of the building for BU we can be 98% of the building for NMU. But we'll be 98% of a crowd of maybe 12,000 Yes. There seems to be a disconnect here. Cornell’s attendance at MSG is impressive, but the games are not full sellouts. Cornell has capped out its ticket sales. The question is how to fill the remaining 6,000-8,000 seats that aren’t Cornell faby Dafatone - Hockey

Casey's done a lot with a team that I can't imagine is easy to recruit for. And good for Coach Schafer.by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: Mike Schafer retiring 2025 - 2 months ago
BearLover ugarte BearLoverI guess Syer understood he wasn’t going to be the next head coach, and so he left? He wasn't the only one who understood this! This hypothetical person you’re thinking of who posted Syer wouldn’t be the next head coach—such a person would have more credibility if he didn’t, in that very same post, also say Casey wouldn’t be the next head coach! He also never denied myby Dafatone - Hockey

abmarks Bearlover: since he got the job, I think your question about why Princeton but not Cornell HC is a good, and relevant one. Be interesting to see if any info slips out on this over time. Or maybe when Adam said syer would not be a Cornell HC, he already knew just how likely syer was to land the Princeton job. That seems the most likely explanation of Adam's emphatic statement. scoop85 Trotsky RichHWe swept UND at the Ralph in Jan 2022. Both games were comebacks. Those 2 games were where I 1st thought we might have something in this Shane kid. I believe we were the first team to sweep a weekend @UND in a few years.by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: ECAC Early and Grad Departures 2024 - 5 months ago
Trotsky arugula Hopefully Q losing their top guns has the impact Harvard losing theirs did. Watch Rand's head explode...Q can just reload with whatever's available. Harvard has to at least ostensibly pretend to observe admissions requirements (I know, I know). I had a sort of friend about a decade ago who played in some American junior hockey league, not quite sure which. He said he thought aby Dafatone - Hockey

As someone who has anxiety about whether or not bad things HAVE happened, anxiety about whether or not bad things WILL happen sounds exhausting. Also, we got Seger through the portal, so it can work for us. But we don't exactly have a lot of room for newcomers unless something changes for the worse.by Dafatone - Hockey

Re: Was that slashing? - 5 months ago
KenP “in the judgment of the referee, is not an attempt to play the puck” That’s where I disagreed 100% with the judgement of the referee. I don't think it was an attempt to play the puck, but it also wasn't forceful enough to be a slash, especially given how lax the officiating had been.by Dafatone - Hockey

Re: NCAA QF - Denver - 5 months ago
I didn't want to say this til now for woofing purposes, but we lost to two good teams all season. Sure, we lost to some teams we should've beat, but we went 22-7-6. That's really good! Doesn't mean losing doesn't suck, but this was a really strong year. Also, how did Shane put up a 1.70 or so GAA on only 3 shutouts.by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: NCAA QF - Denver - 5 months ago
ugarte BearLover The NCAA quarterfinals, like all hockey games, exists in a vacuum. It doesn’t matter how you got there, or how good your chance is of getting back there in the future. Once the puck drops, that all goes out the window. Cornell played very well, against one of the best teams in the country, but, for the sixth time in a row in this game, we lost. It’s crushing and gutting and I donby Dafatone - Hockey

Re: NCAA QF - Denver - 5 months ago
BMac They had no business being this good with 10 freshmen. They had no business winning the ecac. What an impressive season. Their poise in both regionals was amazing. They’ll be back and better next year. (I’m crushed) All of this. Team played real well.by Dafatone - Hockey
Re: NCAA QF - Denver - 5 months ago
chimpfood I would’ve let them score at the beginning of the powerplay to give us 2:30 to get 2 instead of :30 to get one. But idk we got a great chance and didn’t get it. So frustrating. I thought about it. A friend recommended playing 5x5 empty net. If you give one up, you're in the same position you would've been had you let in a goal.by Dafatone - Hockey

Re: NCAA QF - Denver - 5 months ago
Easy to say in retrospect, but when you lose your stick, just go get your stick. I'm sure this isn't what guys do for a good reason, but the stick wasn't that far away. Til a Denver guy knocked it to the corner, which he's not supposed to do, but oh well.by Dafatone - Hockey
