That tie hurts my soul, especially after watching Jacome undress Galadja at the end of the 2nd just to whang one off the crossbar.by daredevilcu - Hockey

Quality seems to have improved from a couple weeks ago. Allow me to apologize for Mike in advance - he's not the worst when it comes to homerism, but he's far from the objectivity level of Bob Ahfeld. We all miss Bob.by daredevilcu - Hockey
Re: Injuries - 6 years ago
BigRedHockeyFan Gotta wonder how many Clarkson players are hurting. They have slacked off, starting with the Harvard tie. Per Casey Jones, the Knights have had similar illness issues that Cornell has had the last couple weeks. I can say from personal experience that the flu has run rampant through Potsdam. A large contingent of alumni were up for the Brown/Yale weekend, half of us got the fluby daredevilcu - Hockey

As for the shot totals, going only by the radio call, Cornell didn't even try to generate offense except as counterpunch breakaways. A dubious strategy until the clock struckby daredevilcu - Hockey

Give My Regards daredevilcu We don't have enough power in the corners to stay with them physically for 4 periods of hockey a night Even four might not be enough for these two. That series was Leggio's coming out party. He was SUPERB both games, over 100 saves for the weekend, and then spent the next two years being a top goalie in the league.by daredevilcu - Hockey

ugarte daredevilcu Since a game misconduct was not issued, the proper remedy is to issue a one-game suspension. This is the only part that I don't buy. With 1:40 left in the game, a GM is pretty much the same as a minor. I think the league suspended her for a game because they thought she deserved a one game suspension. It's not much more complicated than that. Maybe, but I also think that ifby daredevilcu - Hockey

Basically what the league is saying with the DQ is this: The hit was illegal. The call on the ice was insufficient and should have been a major penalty with at least a game misconduct, but more likely a game disqualification due to the time of the infraction and nature of the play. Since a game misconduct was not issued, the proper remedy is to issue a one-game suspension. If you don'by daredevilcu - Hockey

Game 2 of the 2004 series was my first ever introduction to playoff hockey, and it was an incredible game to be at. Nickerson not fighting Varteressian in game 1 was the key to the whole series. Lynah has lost its fangs since then, and it is sad. I left that night feeling like I was definitely going to get beat up in the parking garage.by daredevilcu - Hockey
Re: Clarkson @ Cornell 03/10-3/12?/17 - 7 years ago
This is going to be one hell of a series. The teams match up well, play similar games, and although this is cliche I think it's going to come down to who wants it most. Cornell has had their system and consistency pay off for them in the regular season games, working back from two third-period deficits for ties. Clarkson has to have two things to win: killer instinct and consistent defense. We haby daredevilcu - Hockey

Where did you find a video? Edit: missed it on mobile. It does look like she cross checks her in the head from that angle. With the emphasis on CTH I wouldn't be surprised if that was the logic for the suspension.by daredevilcu - Hockey
Re: Women's Team 2016-17 - 7 years ago
Spoke with some friends who were at the game, and they thought it was pretty bad. Apparently it was a cross check to stop a Clarkson player who was about to score on the empty net or something. Again, I don't recall thinking it was anything crazy, certainly not suspension-worthy, but I would really like to see the hit again.by daredevilcu - Hockey

Final PWR is: 1 Wisconsin 2 Clarkson 3 Minnesota-Duluth 4 Boston College 5 St. Lawrence 6 Minnesota 7 Cornell 8 Robert Morris With it being so straightforward to keep perfect bracket integrity, it would be a pretty ridiculous thing to send Cornell to Boston. Pretty nakedly shrewd "save a bus trip expense" decision if it goes that way. #8 Robert Morris @ #1 Wisconsin #7by daredevilcu - Hockey

I agree DeHaas deserved 5 for the hit on Starret. Uncalled for. Also I didn't notice it during the game, but the Clarkson player did end up returning to the game and was on the ice for the 3rd Cornell goal. Glad that ended up better than it looked.by daredevilcu - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Clarkson 2017-02-18 - 7 years ago
Jim Hyla daredevilcu I was at the game, and there should have been two suspensions for sure. One, the guy who hit Dalpe and caused the injury should have gotten 5+game, possibly 5+DQ. It was clearly boarding, as Dalpe got thrown into the boards from 5 feet away. Could have also been charging. It also caused what I think was a clear concussion, and I'll be surprised if Dalpe plays again beforeby daredevilcu - Hockey

upprdeck in the first picture, is it really the puck? looks a bit funny more like tape. It's definitely the puck. Even after everyone stood up and moved away from the net, it was still sitting in that exact spot.by daredevilcu - Hockey

Re: Game 3: Cornell 1, Clarkson 0 (OT) - 10 years ago
The pic shows it very clearly as a goal, but in review I believe the referees only have access to the overhead camera. An overhead shot or a view from anywhere but right on the glass in Section O would not have been able to see the puck through all the bodies. I'm not mad that it wasn't overturned on review, I'm just annoyed they didn't get it right to begin with in both cases.by daredevilcu - Hockey
Re: Game 3: Cornell 1, Clarkson 0 (OT) - 10 years ago
Ugh. Great series, great games, and I am really sour about game 3. Two definite Clarkson goals missed/botched by the officiating crew in periods 2 and 3. Oh well. We had plenty of chances to close it out without those and didn't. Really tough way to end our season, but I was very impressed with Perry all weekend standing tall when he needed to. Hopefully it's his big break like 2005-2006 was forby daredevilcu - Hockey
