Re: Opponents and Others 2023-24 - Today
At least when I impolitely take issue with Adam it's a matter of his comprehensively-stated argument* and not one suggestive rhetorical off-the-cuff snippet. Bear, stop making me look fair-minded by comparison. * albeit one which is an apodictic inanity.by Trotsky - Hockey

Will abmarks Maybe the more pertinent question is why is syer still at Cornell, despite interviewing for other gigs frequently over the years? (Someone correct.me.if it hasn't been that often) Is it because he doesn't want to leave? Or is it because no one will offer.him a HC job? Time will tell One likely factor is that Ben's wife Laura is Cornell's Vice President of Budget and Planningby Trotsky - Hockey

Iceberg chimpfood CHN has syer as a finalist for the Princeton head coaching job. Funny considering quite a few of the past years Syer has subbed for Schafer behind at Princeton due to illnessHe's something like 9-1 (yes, I know the results go to Mike).by Trotsky - Hockey

arugulaAh, ok. Folks have been talking about him as if he still had a draft year.I think he is typically mentioned as a blue chip free agent.by Trotsky - Hockey

arugulaBasing five on the fact that we lost to the eventual champion.I've been meaning to go back and edit the NT and ET fields in the CHDB to reflect this, now that consies are dead forever. 3 - lost to 1 in SF 4 - lost to 2 in SF 5 - lost to 1 in QF ... Can easily be altered to deal with byes, etc.by Trotsky - Hockey

RichH Trotsky Scersk '97Both teams’ fans suck and are reviled by their respective conferences. You know who else's fans are hated in their conference? I've always liked Denver. For me the ideal F4 would be us, Denver, BU, and Wisco. That’s a lot of red.Good.by Trotsky - Hockey

abmarks Trotsky RobbKeeps Cornell in the running to get to 10 first. This. Damn... Nice run by Michigan, winning in 51,52,53,55,56. Scoured the list to see who bumped them off in 54. Shocked to see it was RPI! It was Ned Harkness.by Trotsky - Hockey

Robb Trotsky RobbKeeps Cornell in the running to get to 10 first. This. Fuck. First to 11, then. At least we gave the champs a better game tbh an the runner up.We finish 5th, I'm ok with that. Next year we take the cheese. I didn't even last 3 minutes trying to be impartial. I hate BC.by Trotsky - Hockey

Greg Brown wins the Spencer Penrose. Last BC coach to win it was Len Ceglarski in his first year at BC in 1973.by Trotsky - Hockey

Give My RegardsI recall the same, at least for the regular season; Underhill got all the postseason starts. I also don't think the coaches had any trouble figuring out what they had with Leneveu, as he wound up splitting time with Underhill despite Underhill's 2000-01 season in which he became the first Big Red goaltender to post a sub-2.00 GAA since Cropper in 1970. Per the Q USCHO thread they have only 5 guys left from the title team, despite the 5-year plan. IINM they have lost their top 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12 and 13 scorers from 2024, and their big goalie.by Trotsky - Hockey
Re: Opponents and Others 2023-24 - 14 days ago
I knew about the 5th year. But I thought it had to do time lost to COVID. Not counting time played during COVID is seriously weird to me. I may just have mentally blocked it out as absurd, like MLB extra innings and professionals allowed in the Olympics.by Trotsky - Hockey

arugula Hopefully Q losing their top guns has the impact Harvard losing theirs did. Watch Rand's head explode...Q can just reload with whatever's available. Harvard has to at least ostensibly pretend to observe admissions requirements (I know, I know).by Trotsky - Hockey

ugarte George64 He played two years at Colorado College (41 games) and two years at St. Cloud State (44 games), isn’t his eligibility used up? I assume he’s a grad student, how much time does he get? Does the odometer turn back to zero?probably still a COVID bonus yearI thought COVID only gave you an extra year to do your 4. I'm at a loss to see how somebody with 4 full years can come back, unby Trotsky - Hockey

Fillion leaves Q, to go with Quillan and soon to be Graf. Rand will just go shopping in the Portal, but still nice to see the volatility. We're stating to look like preseason favorites.by Trotsky - Hockey
Re: ECAC Early and Grad Departures 2024 - 16 days ago
arugulaLooks like Graf is going to the pros.Wow; he's a FA and it's a bidding war. That offer is going to be pretty close to impossible to resist. If they (Quillan and Graf) both go, I wonder if Lipkin might jump to the Yotes. A girl can dream.by Trotsky - Hockey

arugula Trotsky RobbTrotskyThe world needs finance bros too.Needs? What - are the poors hungry again? "Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard." Fwiw my friend the BC grad is a union organizer. I guess that’s the opposite of a finance bro. A bit closer to the Jesuit tradition.I'm just glad there still are union organiby Trotsky - Hockey

BearLoverOf course, if you root for a strong ECAC, you would prefer that Martino return for his senior season. Preferring a strong ECAC would also mean rooting for Colin Graf to stay, for Macklin Celebrini to transfer for Harvard for his sophomore season, etc.Players going pro is a tremendous sign of strength. I hope all our opponents get kneecapped by early flight.by Trotsky - Hockey
