I'll be at Brown. Still figuring out Yale. Can't wait to see this year's team!! GO RED!by Nate 04 - Hockey

Looks like they're back online. Only single tickets available. Hope that means we keep the seats we already bought.by Nate 04 - Hockey

Re: Cornell Sun on hockey line fiasco - 18 years ago
I bet starting games a half hour later than they are now would help a bit. I know when I was in school that it was hard to get something to eat and be up to the game before 7, just because i wasn't used to eating dinner before 6:30.by Nate 04 - Hockey
Re: What I like about being a Big Red fan - 18 years ago
I've never so quickly gone from such a nauseous feeling to being so elated as when McRae hit that goal. It might have taken ten years off my life, but I'd give another ten to see it live once more.by Nate 04 - Hockey
Re: What I like about being a Big Red fan - 18 years ago
Not to steal a story from Beeeej, but last year I somehow scheduled a vacation out to San Diego that spanned over the weekends of the ECAC tourney and the first round of the NCAA tourney. We found a bar in Pacific Beach that said they should be able to show the championship game between Cornell and Harvard. When we got there, the bar was packed with people watching basketball (this was also theby Nate 04 - Hockey
Re: When do Cornell vs. harvard tickets @ bright go on sale? - 18 years ago
Does anyone know how hard it is to get tickets from Bright for the Cornell game? Is it possible to just order them over the phone on the day tickets go on sale? Or will there be a mad rush of Cornell alums trying to relive their glory days of waiting in a line for tickets, thus overtaking the Harvard ticket office and making it impossible to order tickets without pitching a tent, making a campfby Nate 04 - Hockey
Re: Why are there no defense cheers? - 19 years ago
One of my favorite things I've seen at another school is the way BU students sing/clap "Ole" the whole time when the Terriers are on power play and then some other song when on penalty kill. It'd be great if something could be thought up along those lines (without copying BU) as I'm sure it would give a bit more spark to our players, than the random "Let's Go Red" or "XXby Nate 04 - Hockey

It might not look all that great to say "Hey Prez, here's your hockey jersey, sorry we couldn't get you a new one, we could only find you this used one." I'm sure he'd love it, but there's probably some principle involved....and anyways, more for us!by Nate 04 - Hockey
Re: NHL season canceled - 19 years ago
According to NHL.com the Devils and Flyers match up at 7pm tomorrow night as do the Rangers and the Blue Jackets. At 7:30pm we've got the Oilers-Canadiens, Islanders-Lightening and Blues-Red Wings. For the nightcaps Bruins-Coyotes brawl and then the Flames and Shawks close out the night. I can't wait to get home, fire up the TV for some good 2005 NHL Hockey. What? It's canceled you say?by Nate 04 - Hockey
Re: Lynah remodel - keeping up with the Joneses - 19 years ago
I think it'd be too bad to keep moving fields off campus. As a student and huge sports fan, I enjoyed taking a stroll up to watch an occasional track meet, soccer game or baseball game. I always wanted to go watch a friend play tennis or catch one of the softball or polo games, but they are played too far away for just the spur of the moment stroll to watch a game. Re: Praise for Iggulden - 19 years ago
I'll second this (or be the 3rd to second it). I remember when Iggulden came to Cornell my sophomore year and taking a liking to the guy, but always commenting to a friend that he never really seemed to do anything good. One specific play was when he had the puck in front of the goalie pretty much by himself in the Harvard-Cornell 2OT loss at Lake Placid in 2002. I think it was either late inby Nate 04 - Hockey
Boston to the North Country - 19 years ago
Is anyone from Boston or the greater Boston metropolitan area planning on going to the games at Clarkson and SLU on Feb 25/26. I've been toying with the idea taking the trip up, but would rather do it with fellow fans than alone. Just thought I'd see if there was anyone who has plans to go, thinking about it, or that this can spark an interest. Email me at nate@s&by Nate 04 - Hockey
Re: Recruit Updates - 19 years ago
"Plus I could get hurt in my first year, and I still know I'm going to have four years of paid school guaranteed." I said the same thing when I signed on to study at Cornell. Of course it was my parents and my bank account that were paying for it. Re: How good are the Patriots? - 19 years ago
I think this game also showed the Ken Jennings effect. It's a big deal to have been in the championship situation before (Jennings just got so comfortable on Jeapordy, and everyone else was so nervous no one could beat him for a long time). I thought McNabb looked really tight at times when he just couldn't get his passes anywhere near the reciever. And no doubt they really were lost at the enby Nate 04 - Hockey
Re: Colgate Band Pictures - 19 years ago
The game (and the band) looked pretty nice from the middle of the Colgate student section I definitely feared for my life at times, but I'm not sure the hecklers were keen enough to figure out that I was rooting for Cornell (even though I had on a nice bright red Cornell shirt and let out a big cheer when we scored). Re: Frozen Four at Ford Field? - 19 years ago
I gotta imagine it gets easy to lose track of where the puck is up when watching from the nosebleed sections. Maybe they can make it glow or something, like Fox (ABC?) tried to do years ago in their NHL broadcasts.by Nate 04 - Hockey
Re: RPI follows Clarkson and St Lawrence games with suspensions - 19 years ago
I think the most scandalous thing about this is that guys who owned up to their mistake were suspended for two league games (no objection here), but the UND guy who was arrested (2 games) for drunk driving and the canisius players (2 exhibition games) received relatively lighter punishments for more serious offenses.by Nate 04 - Hockey

Patriot fans aren't overconfident? Let's take a look at the Sports Guy Bill Simmons and what he says in his daily blog from the Superbowl. This is a guy who claimed he wouldn't get overconfident. Re: New Final Proposal from NHL - 19 years ago
Maybe hockey players will see that they may not be able to make the millions they had anticipated and more will come to college to get a degree. Thus the overall quality and skill of the college hockey program will increase. If nothing else, it'll probably deter players from leaving college early.by Nate 04 - Hockey
Re: How good are the Patriots? - 19 years ago
Everyone knows Dan Marino couldn't win a superbowl. Of course neither have the eagles. I say it must have ended in a tie. That or the credits rolled first, since they didn't want to get the hopes of either of the teams' fans.by Nate 04 - Hockey
BU Hockey Visit - 19 years ago
Over the weekend I had a chance to attend my first BU hockey game at BU. It was a really great experience, not to mention a great game. My tickets were in the student section, but moved after one period to one of the many empty seats around the arena. Though all their games are sold out, the rink is only about 2/3 filled (though the student section was filled). I ended up moving to sit with aby Nate 04 - Hockey
