Re: Olympic Ice, Not UND - 15 years ago
ugarteJacob 03andyw2100Oatandyw2100 I am really impressed with how easily UND is moving the puck around on the powerplay. I don't recall seeing nearly as many clean passes on powerplays in quite a long time. We --REALLY-- need to not take any more dumb penalties, because we're playing with fire playing these guys a man down. UND passes only look easy because they're playing on Olympic-size iceby ajec1 - Hockey
Re: New STX contract - 16 years ago
I could be wrong, but I believe that this contract will supply all equipment outside of unis... Check out the Inside Lacrosse homepage, Hopkins (which the story says is also supplied by STX) has the big 'ol Swoosh prominently featuredby ajec1 - Other Sports
Re: North Country Roll Call - 16 years ago
cth95I'll be at both games with a few friends. Clarkson is on a break, so I don't know how full the student section will be to challenge us. Is our band making the trip? The band will be there... Of course, we will not be as large as years' past due to a tremendous basketball weekend; however, a few of us could not pass up a trip to Canada North Country.by ajec1 - Hockey
Re: Harvard-Dartmouth Roll Call - 16 years ago
A-ron Back in the world of hockey, what section will our band be in? If I remember correctly, the band will be in section 14 or 15.by ajec1 - Hockey
Re: Harvard-Dartmouth Roll Call - 16 years ago
After a week of R&R (aka a Saturday full of Columbia football and the basketball home opener), the Pep Band returns to full strength for Harvard (always was?)... However, we will not be visiting the wilderness of New Hampshire, due to the annual battle for the illustrious (mythical?) Trustee Cup in Philadelphia. Be lucky that y'all will be seeing us on Friday after only 6 of 16 hours on a busby ajec1 - Hockey
Re: Cornell-RIT postgame - 16 years ago
sah67 Even the band seemed out of it cheer-wise, not really starting any, and even when the RIT idiots came over to taunt them, they just sat there looking irritated and didn't utter anything until I started a "Safety Schooool" chant out of desperation.. we were getting out-cheered in our own fan section by 4 RIT guys. I seem to remember the band being the source of many "Let'sby ajec1 - Hockey
Re: OT - Trouble in Minny - 16 years ago
ithacatJimmy O'Brien has left Minnesota after only one year to play with Seatlle in the WHL. JOB apparently was disenchanted with the Gophers' free-wheeling style of play and felt that Don Lucia was holding back his development. JOB knows he needs to play defense as well as offense and believes the WHL will be a better fit. From what I had read and heard back home, this happened simply becauseby ajec1 - Hockey

BeeeejOatSlow down the cheers especially "It's all your fault - It's all your fault - It's all your fault" But like I said before this doesn't begin with the crowd. It begins with the drummer who has to regulate the beats when we count up the goals. The beats when we count up the goals are done to the same tempo as "Davy," and always have been (at least in the twenty yeaby ajec1 - Hockey
Re: OT: Penguins Moving - 17 years ago
Pete GodenschwagerKeithKWhy would anyone voluntarily move a pro-sports franchise to Kansas City? Ever looked at the Royals over the last 20 years? The Chiefs do pretty well both attendance and performance wise. Granted, selling out eight home games a year might be easier than getting a good crowd for 41 games a year. You have to consider the product as well. The Royals are not the product oby ajec1 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 6 at RPI 1 post game - 17 years ago
JasonN95Dpperk29 you're still grumpy about that? get over it Jim, it's our rink. Oh, is that how it works? Any chance you could explain that to Rich S? I think that would do away with about 98% of his posts here. Hmm, seems a storm might be a-brewin'. Honestly, I could complain until I was blue in the face about the drumming while in play (poor man's Cleveland Indian fans?), however, theby ajec1 - Hockey
Re: 2007-2008 Schedule - 17 years ago
The tentative document that I have seen says Florida will consist of us, Maine, UMass-Lowell and Clarkson (I wonder what song Estero will play after a Clarkson goal, what with no real fight song...). IIRC, the director of the Mariucci Holiday Classic did mention BC when talking about next year's field.by ajec1 - Hockey
Re: Crazy Goal from the NODAK Minny Game yesterday - 17 years ago
marty I get so tired of seeing these guys week after week on cable. At least Moog's color comments are more intelligible than his rantings when coach. C'mon, the weekly Gophers series are staples back home. Growing up without the Northstars, the Gophers were all we had. Re: Post Game! - 17 years ago
RobbCactus12Agreed. I watched the game again on tws26 today. There was barely contact. Great acting though... I especially liked the part where he came out for his next shift 30 seconds later. That's a fairly dangerous line of thinking - no blood, no foul? If an action is illegal, it's illegal, period, and not dependent on the result of the play. I agree. I haven't seen the play (and couldn'tby ajec1 - Hockey
Re: Cornell-BU - proof of game - 17 years ago
Will Is the date and time actually set in stone for all parties involved? I would imagine, if anything, that's the chief hold-up. For instance, have the 2007-08 Rangers and Knicks schedules been released yet? The Powers That Be may have to reschedule accordingly. Coming from the land of 10,000 lakes and one multi-purpose stadium, generally leagues are open to scheduling around prior commitby ajec1 - Hockey

Re: Cornell at Clarkson Post-game - 17 years ago
Rich S For the record, the supposed "cheers" that I clearly heard fom your Section O directed at Clarkson's Dustin Traylen more than once a few years ago make the above profanities seem tame. One lynah jerk even came around to yell it from Section O. Thanks for the clarification, I was worried the townies in Section N were giving you crap. Trading in sandals for snow boots? - 17 years ago
While multi-tasking to the extreme (listening to the CU-Maine game, flipping between Giants, Gopher hockey and the Peach Bowl), they had the director of the Mariucci/Dodge Holiday Classic on. He said that they have filled the tournament through 2010 and that Cornell was one of the teams that would come to the Great White North at some point. Of course, there is nothing but this guy's word to go oby ajec1 - Hockey
Re: Crowd - 17 years ago
Oat It may seem like the crowd sucks. But when the count is high (>2), then it's definitely the drummer's fault. He's responsible for setting up the beat in the beginning when we're counting up the goals (and he always does it too fast). This may sound defensive, but I have to stick up for the band. Re: Wayne State Saturday Postgame - 17 years ago
Jim Hylaithacat Sorry, not trying to pick a fight, but Wayne State is one of the worst teams in college hockey. For most of the game they skated harder, worked harder, and simply hustled more than Cornell. I never really saw any urgency by Cornell & this after having Schafer call out the team in the media. That's not a good sign.Well, they did out shoot them 23-16 in the last 2 periods, andby ajec1 - Hockey

scoop85While I'm against the whole idea of Indian mascots, the NCAA's selective enforcement is a joke. Seeing Florida State's "Indian" in full warpaint come onto the field the other night before the Wafe Forest game and plant the flaming spear -- all of which was deemed exempt from the policy by the NCAA -- shows again that the big athletic powers get their way, while a small school liby ajec1 - Hockey

Donating to the Pep Band - 18 years ago

Re: Green Bay Regional - 18 years ago
Anne 85Does anyone know if the band is going? We will be there in force... well, as forceful as one can be with 25 people after a 16 hour bus ride. While this trip is not as financially straining (or unprecendented) as the Minnesota trip last year, the band would be eternally grateful to anyone who wants to help us out financially. Re: Link for Sunday's SLU-Brown game - 18 years ago
TrotskybillhowardDoes Brown have the same horrible, whiny, excuse-making announcers as 2004-05, or do they have a new duo ... ? Re: 2004 All Over Again? - 18 years ago
KeithKThe tournament should be big enough that Cinderalla can get in and be good enough to make the final or frozen four. By this logic, the squeakball tournament is way too big. To be honest it probably is. It's definitely one too many - the 64-65 playin game thing is ridiculous.
