stereax 617BigRed 10th anniversary of Red Hot Hockey officially confirmed: Buses from Ithaca to New York... buses from New York to Ithaca... how does the Cornell contingent usually get to Red Hot? The Campus to Campus bus service has daily bus service between Cornell and New York City. You can walk to MSG from the Cornell Club drop-off site.by dbilmes - Hockey
Re: Offseason wrestling - 4 weeks ago
A top-ranked Cornell wrestling recruit from New Jersey is in the news for going into the stands in response to taunting from opposing fans. He and his father have both been charged with simple assault. Cornell coach Mike Grey said the school is still expecting him to wrestle for the Big Red.by dbilmes - Other Sports

djk26 Is it just me, or did ESPN go for a Tambroni reaction shot every time Cornell scored? I noticed the same thing and thought it was strange.by dbilmes - Other Sports
Re: 2025 NCAA Lax Tournament - Others - 6 weeks ago
Inside Lacrosse just republished this look back at the 1976 championship game between Cornell and Maryland, calling it "the greatest championship game of all time." I was in the stands in Providence that day and would have to agree!by dbilmes - Other Sports
Re: 2025 NCAA Lax Tournament - Others - 6 weeks ago
upprdeck cornell trying to play every team on the schedule twice this year it seems. Got to avoid the Princeton 3 peat anyway Unless Penn State gets its act together, that's not going to happen. Notre Dame ahead, 8-3, late in second quarter.by dbilmes - Other Sports
Re: NCAA tournament: CU vs Richmond 5/19 - 6 weeks ago
As noted in this article from Inside Lacrosse, while CJ didn't have a great scoring day, he picked up a game-high 10 groundballs, including two in the final three minutes, and also caused a game-high three turnovers. That's what makes him such a great player. He's not just a goal scorer.by dbilmes - Other Sports

KenP Here's the Saturday weather forecast for Hempstead (storms are more likely to impact the late game) A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 80. South wind 6 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounby dbilmes - Other Sports

upprdeck we have a team in the final 8 and hockey gets tons of discussion while Lax gets none. That's because Bearlover isn't getting everyone upset on the lacrosse part of this forum.by dbilmes - Other Sports

Harvard gave up five goals in a span of less than two minutes, and didn't help itself by taking several costly penalties late in the game.by dbilmes - Other Sports
Re: Mike Schafer retiring 2025 - 2 months ago
Schafer gave his "Last Lecture" before a packed auditorium. Reading the story, I wondered why they didn't hold it in Bailey Hall or another larger venue. Kudos to Jane McNally for another excellent story.by dbilmes - Hockey
Cornell softball coaching change - 2 months ago
Interesting timing as there is a "change in leadership" with the Cornell softball team with six games remaining in the season. You have to wonder why this coaching change couldn't have waited about 10 more days until the season was over.by dbilmes - Other Sports

scoop85 CU2007 I might be alone in this but I’d really like to avoid playing Army You’re not alone. Army would be a tough matchup. 2 years ago AJ Pilate played Kirst about as well as any defenseman (including Lavelle) has played CJ. They have a top-tier FOGO, and with Eicher and Plunkett they have a couple of the best scorers in the country. Playing our best I think we’d prevail, but it would bby dbilmes - Other Sports
Re: Alumni in the pros 24-25 - 2 months ago
Tough season for Cole Bardreau and the Bridgeport Islanders, who set an AHL record for the fewest home wins in a season. Their home record was 4-28-1-3 and they were outscored by 70 goals at home. Their overall record was 15-48-7. Cole played in 65 games and had 4 goals and 14 assists. His plus-minus of minus-6 was actually one of the better marks on the team. That doesn't mean he had a good seaby dbilmes - Hockey

stereax We flipped Lily Pachl from Sucks!!! Link. Will come in for '25. She was a semifinalist for the Ms. Hockey Award in Minnesota, so she must be pretty good!by dbilmes - Hockey
Re: Portal 2025 - 3 months ago
We get to look forward to watching another first-round NHL draft pick play for BU against Cornell at MSG this November: Sacha Boisvert, a member of CHN's All-Rookie Team and the NCHC Rookie of the Year, is transferring to Boston University, according to RDS in Canada. Boisvert, a first-round pick of Chicago in last year's NHL Draft, had 18 goals and 32 points this season for the Fighting Hawks.by dbilmes - Hockey
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2025 - 3 months ago
I just got back from the game. Great Cornell crowd at game. Just in my section of bleachers I met parents of a Cornell player, a '98 grad who played on the lacrosse team, and a 2010 grad who played club lacrosse, and after the game I got to meet CJ's mom! The overall crowd would have been even if larger if the Yalies weren't on spring break, but there were a lot of youth lacrosse programs there.by dbilmes - Other Sports

imafrshmn Watching a bit of the Wisconsin-Minnesota semi, it is pretty unbelievable seeing how overloaded the Badgers are with top talent (all 3 Patty Kaz finalists!). It sounds like sour grapes, which I don't intend... the only wine that hasn't aged well was the 2019-20 Big Red season; we never got to see what they were capable of. Between the second and third periods, ESPN ran a short piece --by dbilmes - Hockey
Re: ECAC '25 semifinal Red vs. Q - 3 months ago
This article from earlier this week from the Quinnipiac Chronicle makes for a fun read tonight! Because the fact is, despite all the success, despite a national championship and countless NCAA Tournament wins — Pecknold hasn’t been able to conquer Lake Placid, New York. At least not for the last nine years. The last time Quinnipiac came away with the Whitelaw Cup was in 2016, and since then theby dbilmes - Hockey
Re: ECAC '25 semifinal Red vs. Q - 3 months ago
Chris H82 Have we had another short-handed goal this year? If I remember correctly, our first SH goal this season came when we were killing a penalty at the end of the game after the opposing team had pulled their goalie. So it was a shortie into an empty net.by dbilmes - Hockey

In contrast to the playoff series at Colgate last weekend, the ESPN play-by-play guy is hardly calling any play-by-play. For example, I haven't heard Walsh's name called once. Same for DeSantis.by dbilmes - Hockey

toddlose No viewing parties at lynah? I’d be tempted to drive 3 hours for that. The big video screen at Lynah is terrible. I wouldn't want to watch a game on it.by dbilmes - Hockey
Re: Women 2024-25 - 3 months ago
Looking at the transfer portal, interesting to note that we have two other seniors in there -- goalie Belle Mendes and defenseman Alexa Davis. After playing in 87 games her first three years, Davis only played in one game this year. I'm assuming she lost her spot in the lineup, although she also may have been injured. Mendes played in 15 games as a sophomore, but has only played in a total of sixby dbilmes - Hockey

billhoward Future opponents: Syracuse is 10, Harvard 12, Penn 16, Dartmouth 20. Meaning only Brown, 2-4, is the only out of the polls. Our opponent this Saturday is Yale (1-4), which is also unranked.by dbilmes - Other Sports

Re: Opponent and other news and results of interest 2024-2025 - 3 months ago
Colgate wasn't the only team to get hit with a too many men on the ice penalty when trying to pull their goalie at the end of the game. The same thing happened to Union with 1:07 remaining in it's one-goal loss to Dartmouth. What are the odds are that happening in two games on the same night?by dbilmes - Hockey
Re: ECAC 2025 - 3 months ago
We're not the only ECAC team dealing with a lot of costly injuries this season. It sounds like Syer has had it even worse in his first year at Princeton.by dbilmes - Hockey
