Re: were they chanting? - 18 years ago
canuck89Might he be referring to GWG at Lynah, or did Moulson really score that many at home??? Fair point...Moulson scored home winners against Clarkson and RIT, a road winner against Union, and a neutral one against Northeastern in Florida.by canucksfan - Hockey
Re: were they chanting? - 18 years ago
billhowardThe MOUL-SON chant was pretty clear, I thought. And among the debris tossed on the ice at game's end (mostly crumpled newspapers) was an empty Moulson's carton. Given this was, what, Matt's second GWG this year, somebody must have done a lot of carrying that piece of cardboard back and forth. That was Moulson's fourth winner. Fifth*, really, considering Friday night.by canucksfan - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs. Clarkson, Game 2 POSTGAME - 18 years ago
kroseAs glad as I am that Cornell pulled out both wins, for sanity's sake I prefer blowouts to suspense. That said, a win's a win. LGR! Kyle I was actually a bit pensive about the idea of a blowout before tonight because I thought some of Clarkson's players might start taking runs at our guys. Good for Matt, giving the referee a no-brainer tonight.by canucksfan - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros -- Dec 2005 - 18 years ago
Oh man...is it at all possible that someone has Murray's hit on Holik that the Mercury News article alludes to? I would love to see that... I still remember with fondness the first time, in his freshman year, that someone tried to line up Doug and ended up on their back.by canucksfan - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Harvard postgame - 19 years ago
I've done a search of the archives...some people reported that Welch gave Paolini the puck during the handshake, but there was also a pretty big rant by someone who was sure that Welch had kept it. I guess it's inconclusive...doesn't it seem odd, though, that the first thing this guy (supposedly) thought of after his team lost the championship was to retrieve the puck for the opposing goalscorer?by canucksfan - Hockey

Redscore Wrote: What has Noah Welch done that has made Red fans take aim at him? I've always thought he was a pretty good guy. Am I missing something? I don't know about everyone else, but I don't like him because he stole the puck after Paolini's game-winner in the 2003 ECAC Final. Don't actually know if he kept it or if Cornell got it back somehow, but it was still a pretty classless tby canucksfan - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Harvard postgame - 19 years ago
He admitted that in the recap. Said he thought the backchecker was there to cover Varteressian Way to take responsibility, Noah! Despite being the team captain and letting Pegoraro control you like a marionette on the 2-on-1, you still insist that it isn't your fault! If a backchecker was there, why did you stay in the middle, between the two Cornell skaters, for so long?by canucksfan - Hockey
Cornell-Harvard postgame - 19 years ago
Typical, fantastic Cornell performance. They simply pounded the life out of Harvard along the boards. McKee was huge when he had to be. People talk about how he doesn't face as many shots as other goalies but he still makes the saves when he is called upon. Speaking of huge performances, how about Charlie Cook? Immense on defense and of course on the PP. Finally, the "other" heroby canucksfan - Hockey

I don't understand how Harvard is doing so well. They looked absolutely awful when they lost at Lynah. I guess Donato found the right formula.by canucksfan - Hockey

I have talked to some people from the area who think he has a shot at 4 national titles.by canucksfan - Hockey

Lenny and Dave may have to stop fewer shots, but I really think they've done an incredibly good job playing positionally, and they're both very good technical goalies. I agree...by canucksfan - Hockey
Re: Clutch-and-grab: unfair rap on Cornell? - 19 years ago
I have never seen a game where a "rugby match" or something like it did not take place in front of the net. Every coach worth his salt will tell a player that he's not doing his job if he's not beating up the guy on top of the crease. Cornell's defense is no different from that of any other team. Neither team generated much offense Fastskate is full of crap. 34 Cornell shots vsby canucksfan - Hockey
Red jerseys at home? - 19 years ago
Was this just a one-time thing or will they be wearing the reds at home all season? I don't think they've ever done that before.by canucksfan - Hockey
Re: O'Byrne - INCH - 19 years ago
I thought he was taking a lot fewer penalties as the year goes on. Didn't he rack up a bunch of PIM in his first five games or so and then settle down?by canucksfan - Hockey

McKee should have a shot at rookie honors, shouldn't he?by canucksfan - Hockey

Re: The Lynah and E-Lynah Gestapo - 20 years ago
I am on your side on many of these issues...signs about players shouldn't be taken away, and the ushers have gotten a bit fanatical. But do you honestly think that players decide to come to Cornell based on the fact that the Faithful say "fuck 'em up" rather than "rough 'em up?"by canucksfan - Hockey
Re: The Lynah and E-Lynah Gestapo - 20 years ago
I for one have no issue with the language...I have issue with people who want those that don't like the profanity to just go home. And again, while the fans might help Schafer net recruits, the games are not for the fans.by canucksfan - Hockey

I can't believe that they would start taking pucks away...one of my favorite pieces of memorabilia from last year's undefeated home season is a puck that hit me in the stomach. The bruise was definitely worth it.by canucksfan - Hockey

RedAR Wrote: Wonder how McKee feels about Nickerson. They seemed really buddy during our last regular season weekend. Not that it really matters, but I wonder if he has much more sympathy for this goon than the rest of the team. Re: Game 3 Postgame thread - 20 years ago
You gotta give the guys credit for making something out of a not-too-promising looking season after that W. Michigan series (especially Dave McKee, who has been outstanding). Awfully disappointing way to end, but don't forget that they did win a trophy this year. All the same, my heart goes out to the seniors, especially Ryan. I'm pretty sure he hadn't missed a game until this year...to have tby canucksfan - Hockey
