Re: Cornell Hockey Coverage - 3 days ago
Trotsky It's a really low bar. Hopefully we'll begin to see something like the flowering of scriptwriting after fifty years of stifling by the networks, and we'll begin to see actual writers who cover sports, rather than the low effort, LCD hacks of the bad old days.by RichH - Hockey
Re: CU-BU 2023 - 9 days ago
arugula Just back from MSG and watching some of the broadcast on demand. God I Love Bernie Corbett. Terrific crowd if well below a sellout. I bought my ticket at 7:20pm. Available tickets at that time were very sparsely scattered across approximately a dozen sections, and I thought a majority of the tickets left were from resellers. They closed the extreme upper deck and bridge seats. It waby RichH - Hockey

Trotsky Cornell extends it's winning record (26-23-3) against BU. And moves the “Red Hot Hockey” record to 4-3-2 after starting it 0-3-2.by RichH - Hockey
Re: CU-BU 2023 - 9 days ago
arugulaWe can win this but it has to be a tactical masterpiece and we just take advantage of the few chances we get. Just wanted to highlight this. Was it a tactical masterpiece? No. But the D got their asses in line and Shane came up big where he had to. One particular toe save in the 3rd stood out to me. And the PP showed signs of actual creative movement. Keep that going.by RichH - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the pros 23-24 - 14 days ago
Chris '03 Probably time to move on from the 22-23 thread... Matt Moulson to the booth: “ Moulson’s alma mater, Cornell, has a history of producing hockey TV analysts, notably including Ken Dryden, who was in the booth with Al Michaels to call the 1980 Winter Olympics tournament.” Famed analyst Ken Dryden, but it took him over a decade to make a name for himself.by RichH - Hockey

billhoward Dunno, I've been feeling off ever since I saw this photo commemorating our Florida tournament success. Especially when you see the great photos coming from Ned Dykes for Cornell hockey fans, in addition to the official Cornell hockey sports information pix.
IT’S AWESOME BABY
by RichH - Other Sports
Re: Cornell @ Princeton 11/18/23 - 16 days ago
sah67 Still a big concern for me at the moment is how easily smaller teams are muscling our D around on the forecheck and forcing turnovers. This happened constantly during the Harvard game, and the game-winner at Princeton was a direct result of one of our D-men (Robertson I think) getting roughed up by a Princeton forechecker and coughing up the puck deep in our zone. Re: Cornell football coach - 10-years, .290 - 16 days ago
tycho Trotsky I'd like to think he was offered a position with the university. He couldn't cut it as the HC but as someone said above he bleeds Carnellian and white, and that's worth something to me. +2. Time for a change, but no personal vendetta from me. Best to him and his folks. And I thought the tone of the official announcement was spot on in acknowledging and respecting that. Well donby RichH - Other Sports
Re: Cornell football coach - 16 days ago
kingpin248 billhoward With the season ended, the most likely outcome is for David Archer to step down as head football coach or be removed. Given his two-decade career with Cornell (including as a player), he might find a second life in athletics or Cornell administration. The decision will be easier – less hard – to make this year: * Cornell football lost 3 more games than the best-under-Aby RichH - Other Sports

BearLover Local Motion As I have said before Cornell's football season is like the Martha Pollack administration. Ever since she has become president at Cornell the only news coming from the Eaat Hill is bad news. Just ask CNN. Cornell needs a new leader who brings positive energy back to our campus. Whether it's threats of violence on campus, student depression, or a football team who caby RichH - Other Sports

upprdeck considering you could run all the video off remote cameras I dont think High angles are really an issue if you use the right equipment, Nevermind that, can we talk about the assault on the senses every venue seems to want? Even the modest & thin video scoreboard I can see in the photo of Appleton is entirely too many blazingly bright photons to completely ruin the setting. And dby RichH - Other Sports

arugula ugarte Scersk '97 Certainly need to practice 5x3 more often…i was going nuts that there were no efforts to set screens or pass to someone positioned back door. we got shots off but nothing challenging. Last night was my third in person game of the season. I also watch a ton of NHL and too often forget the yawning gap in skill level between the NHL and the NCAA. So the idea of back doorby RichH - Hockey

Trotsky Harvard sweaters with ugly font, particularly the numbers. Letters are straight across instead of arched. Numbers are some weird idea of what the 1990s thought was futuristic. #13’s jersey looks like it reads “Harvard B”by RichH - Hockey

Trotsky We will be fine if we keep playing this way. I have never seen us outskate Harvard this dramatically. The goals will come. All Devlins are welcome here.by RichH - Hockey

Re: Cornell Hockey Jerseys? - 26 days ago
ugarte Trotsky The replica jerseys aren't great unfortunately.no need to be so harsh this looks pretty sharp for a youth jersey Maybe better than the real thing these days, as this replica has the lower stripe historically correct. The roads the team has been wearing are now just Red Wing blanks with the white going all the way to the bottom hem. It's just wrong.by RichH - Hockey

ugarte RichH The fact that West Stands haven't been rebuilt is pretty embarrassing. I felt they were pretty important for the non-major sports. Sorry, but why do we need a visitor’s section when the home section is never more than 10% full outside of homecoming? No need to apologize. I feel bad that you weren’t able to read all the way to the end of my post. The stadium is used for things othby RichH - Other Sports

There’s an old guy who always sits near Cornell fans and tries to shout “BLUUE!!” over “RED” during every single “Let’s go RED” cheer with the intensity and fervor of an 8 year old. I hate that old guy.by RichH - Hockey
