Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: the colgate no goal - 11 years ago
Seeing it live from Section F, I'm pretty sure I heard a whistle before it went in, and remember thinking immediately that the early whistle was why they waved it off.by KP '06 - Hockey
Re: National Collegiate Hockey Conference - 12 years ago
Last night, RIT beat St. Lawrence 6-5 in OT in front of a homecoming sell-out of almost 11,000 at Blue Cross Arena. According to the Rochester paper, their next two homecoming opponents will be Penn State in 2012 (good karma to schedule them) and Michigan in 2013 (how much money did it take to make that happen?). Kudos to a hockey program in our backyard doing good things. Should the ECAC hby KP '06 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 6 USU18NDT 0 - 13 years ago
andyw2100 I just read the article. Wow. Just wow. On a related note, does anyone believe Schafer actually said anything close to this direct quote: "...and I'm like 'dang', you know?" That actually turned up in the Ithaca Journal writeup as well : ... which takes nothing away from the point that the Sun article was awful. Oh god my eyes Iles is a former member of the U-18 teby KP '06 - Hockey

Re: Cornell women's hockey in the NCAAs - 14 years ago
Jim Hyla From the IJ A total of 2,574 fans were on hand at Lynah Rink over the weekend for Cornell's two games. On Sunday, 1,528 witnessed Cornell's first league title. Darn good. Can you imagine the insanity of a Cornell-Harvard doubleheader if the women's game had been put in Ithaca? With the right advertising I bet the women's game would have been a near sell out.by KP '06 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell-BU @ MSG postgame - 14 years ago
Jordan 04 And it was great to hear them take as many opportunities as they could to play after whistles, while the BU band seemed content to just watch the game. The BU Band was very large (maybe 70? So that's what it looks like when a university supports their band) and actually pretty good. Also they started most of the BU cheers throughout the game. Re: Student Season Ticket Information - 14 years ago
Sections E and F are general admission this year (no assigned seats). I kind of like the idea ... it will be interesting to see how it works out.by KP '06 - Hockey
Re: Student Season Ticket Information - 14 years ago
ebilmeshttp://www.athletics.cornell.edu/tickets/ Cornell student season tickets to men's ice hockey games will be selected by a lottery method similar to last year's process. Line numbers will be issued from the Athletic Department Ticket Office in Bartels Hall from 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. beginning Monday, Sept. 21 through Friday, Sept. 25. Seat selection will take place on Saturday, Oct. 3.by KP '06 - Hockey

A maximum of 12 cheerleaders and/or spirit team members shall be allowedby KP '06 - Other Sports
Re: MLax NCAAs 2009: Hofstra 8 @ Cornell 11 (final) - 15 years ago
scoop85Cornell11the student turnout was embarrassing the student sports marketing group is doing a very poor job promoting these games were losing out on a potential home-field advantage (in lax, hockey, bball) Forget about relying upon the "sports marketing group" -- the students will either show up or not. Inexplicable to me why any sports-minded Cornell student wouldn't wantby KP '06 - Other Sports

billhowardThe Princeton site mentions that Princeton's time of possession in the Cornell zone was :06 in the fourth qaurter. Wonder how calmly Bill Tierney took the final quarter? He needs a hug. Or, he's a zombie.by KP '06 - Other Sports

DeltaOne81Just saw the replay on SportsCenter. Sorry, I thought it was in. Not 100% sure, but pretty sure. Here is the video. Looks like a goal to me, but that's a helluva tough call.by KP '06 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 4 Union 1 Postgame - 15 years ago
oceanst41Larry72 The not so good: - CU is taking too many penalties - some of the dumb variety. - Defensive zone turnovers - more than Schafer would like to see. Not as many in the neutral zone which is good. - Still need to finish and drive the net. Nice goal by Collins by doing just that! Dumb and lazy. It's one thing to be a physical team that takes a lot of roughing, charging, eby KP '06 - Hockey
Re: Jordan Berk Gone - 15 years ago
TownieLaJollaRedThe article isn't nearly specific enough to answer that. This is very disappointing. #16 was one of my favorite players to watch last season. With the exception of a crummy ricochet off his skate that led to a breakaway goal at Madison Square Garden, he always seemed valuable on the ice. Several times I watched him break up 2-1s, taking the pass in his ribs like good defenseby KP '06 - Hockey

Re: Cornell-RIT postgame - 16 years ago
Kick out Union. I want RIT in the ECAC(H(L)). Also while I'm disappointed in our student turnout, I strongly disagree that we were quiet. Despite probably a 20-to-1 student ratio (literally), we were loud and trading cheers with RIT until the Tiger's 3rd goal, which pretty much knocked the wind out of everyone. I sure hope this team gets its act together before MSG.by KP '06 - Hockey
Re: 18 season tickets still available - 16 years ago
ORgradExhibit #269 why the Ticket Office is broken... no one I know on the wait list has been contacted yet. I also know grads on the waiting list who haven't been contacted. Maybe they're obligated to sell these seats to undergrads? Hooray red tape.by KP '06 - Hockey

I just noticed this and haven't seen it posted elsewhere: Slope Media Group also has signed a deal with Cornell Big Red, the university's intercollegiate athletics department, to give viewers unlimited free access to online broadcasts of varsity sports games, pre-game events and interviews with players and fans. Sports broadcasts begin with the first football game of the year against Buby KP '06 - Other Sports

Hillel HoffmannJosh '99Is anyone else getting the impression that this Queener guy is the type we'd LOVE to heckle in a hockey game? Yup, but he is just the kind of guy who eats that up. It will have the opposite effect, I guarantee it. He's like Mike Mulligan's steam shovel: The more people who pay attention to him, the more pumped he gets. So you'd recommend the band leave him alone?by KP '06 - Other Sports
