Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: ECAC 2024 Discussion Thread - 2 days ago
jesus christ can we not talk about this again? whatever the decision-making process was for public health, it's beside the point being made about the impact on hockey fandom.by ugarte - Hockey

Woof. 0-5 in the CKLV medal round. Two silvers, a 4th and two 8ths. Plus. two elite wrestlers go 0-2 in the consolation bracket and miss the medal round entirely and while neither looked like they had an injury that should linger, it's still a bummer. At 125, Ungar was in another low scoring match and nearly got the takedown he needed at the end when he was down 2-1* but Provo countered and fiby ugarte - Other Sports

chimpfood Fine start to the game, just need a little more shooting luck. One thing I am getting pretty frustrated about though is our inability to get the ball to cutters. It seems like Ragland and Hansen cannot stop trying to find these passes but our success rate on them is painfully low, whether it be because of a bad pass or the cutter being unable to reel in the ball.Cornell beat Lafayette 7by ugarte - Other Sports

Rough day so far with a couple of bright spots. Good news (guys in the finals): 125: Ungar was leading his semifinal against DeAugustino 5-1 after the second period and in the course of getting a reversal, something not great happened to DeAugustino's knee. He tried to continue but after giving up another escape on the reset, DeAugustino threw in the towel. Up next for Ungar is Nico Provo, aby ugarte - Other Sports

Dumbdumbs BearLover Sullivan Mack reminds me of Kyle Betts. A forward who is reliable on defense and the penalty kill, smart and always knows where to be on the ice…but can never bury his chances. I mean, they're both likable, I guess. But Kyle Betts was a Top 6 forward and one of the team's leaders, and Mack (I'm rooting for him... like all Cornell players) will only turn out that way if all oby ugarte - Hockey

Mixed results from day 1 at CKLV. We'll start with the good news, move on to the "as expected" and then close with the bad. Why? idk man. Good news (guys in the semis): 125: He ran through his first round opponent and then got a pair of grinding one point wins. He beat Harvard's Sotelo in the second round, his third straight win over Sotelo after losing 1-0 in last year's Harvard duby ugarte - Other Sports

arugula ugarte The most important thing a senior editor can do is edit. Really read the work closely so you and your colleagues don't have a clip file that looks like shit. Some people here really seemed to like the MSG gamer but I didn't. It read like a livestream rather than a coherent piece of writing about the event. Big midseason tournament starting at noon eastern today, the Cliff Keen Invitational in Las Vegas (CKLV). We are sending almost all of our starters, with only Vito taking the weekend off as he recovers from a mystery injury. He is supposed to be back for dual season in a couple of weeks. Our starters, and their tournament seeds, are: 125: Brett Ungar (3) v Wagner (Binghamton) 133: Ethan Qby ugarte - Other Sports

Local Motion The request was "can we use the ag school to bring in hayseed lunkheads to major in farming" when the school is a world-class agricultural research center developing important practical applications. dag14 rss77 Re-Ag School comment-Apparently Bob Blackman had the same idea. I attended a meeting where then Ag School Dean, Keith Kennedy, gave a talk. He said that Blackman approached him about using the Ag School to bring in football players. Kennedy said he literally threw him out of his office. Any coach who is recruiting in New York will use the Ag School. And ILR and Human Ecology. Wiby ugarte - Other Sports

Trotsky ugarteI am still annoyed at their terror at any forecheck and we have ONE player on the team who likes - actually likes - to shoot the puck (Bancroft) and every time he's on the wing with space, whoever is passing it to him handcuffs him so he can't one-time it. Morgan Barron would have killed someone by now. I agree with this generally, but Penny and Walsh also like to shoot and, somewby ugarte - Hockey

Trotsky ugarte Trotsky I know you guys feel we were lucky because BU had a bunch of great chances they did not convert, but I think that often happens in games. Ultimately, the final score is the sole dispositive measure of quality. Easy now, Bill Parcells. I was aiming for Schopenhauer. What is the nature of reality? The entire world is just an idea. That’s it. Kant was so close, but Beby ugarte - Hockey

He was incredible and it was probably the most effective defense we had outside of Shane.by ugarte - Hockey
Re: CU-BU 2023 - 8 days ago
Swampy... To underline my point, look again at our two goals. On Goal #1, Rego passed off to Robinson, who took the puck into the zone and was quickly double-teamed. From a BU standpoint, double-teaming while playing a man-down was probably a bad idea, but Robinson has already made a name for himself as someone who assists on goals. So it does not surprise me that he drew a double-team. He takby ugarte - Hockey

Trotsky I will never argue against this: ok but here BL is the one speaking in tangibles - a combination of stats and eye test - and you are responding with ineffable characteristics that even by your own standards wouldn't explain the last two weekends. if this team relied on grit, we don't honk away games we are dominating against mediocrities. Local Motion I agree and probably wishful thinking. Although I don't think we need a DIII coach that requires on the job training. We need an experienced head coach who can recruit and develop a winning program.I agree, i mean get a successful D3 head coach who brings in a good staff so when he leaves for greener pastures he has mentored someone up to step in.by ugarte - Other Sports

Local Motion While I have no idea regarding the search group looking for a new head football coach, I know former Big Red QB and NFL coach Bill Lazor has been mentioned dating back to the early 2000's. At age 51 and a very impressive coaching resume I hope Cornell has him on their radar. He's young enough to be around for the next 15 years and he obviously knows how to coach QB's and direct tby ugarte - Other Sports

billhoward What are the March 2024 Sweet Sixteen arenas? Should we pencil them in? Cornell could make it unbeaten through December 5. we lost to George Mason last week we (101) are currently rated higher than syracuse (118) on kenpom but that has to be an artifact of their three wins over bad teams and a loss to tennessee (and another probably coming against gonzaga tonight). it's not likeby ugarte - Other Sports
