Re: Cornell vs. Minnesota post game thread - 19 years ago
It took us 50 minutes to play our game today. I sure hope you are right - I am just real disappointed like everyone else here. I actually thought we would come out and take the game to Minny today and that absolutely did not happen. Credit the guys for playing as disciplined as they did on defense for most of the game.by Big Red Colonel - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs. Minnesota post game thread - 19 years ago
O'Byrne may have made a few bad plays, but we are simply not good enough. He did not cost us the game. I'm more disappointed with the reality that we don't belong with the big boys than I am with the loss. The guys played hard and I thank them for a wonderful ride again. Reality s*cks.by Big Red Colonel - Hockey

Re: Thank You - 19 years ago
Thanks to all of you guys! CU Hockey is so great not just because the coaches and team are working their butts off, but also because of this great community - it's why I fell in love with the college game. The atmosphere in Lynah is second-to-none, the knowledge of you guys on this forum is top notch, the passion you all have for the game (and other games too) is unparalleled and it all adds upby Big Red Colonel - Hockey
Re: A Bit of Hope - 19 years ago
That doesn't mean that these schools were not expecting to win all that time - you can bet that Minny certainly did. I think you get the point anyway.by Big Red Colonel - Hockey
A Bit of Hope - 19 years ago
ECAC teams played very well this year. Perhaps we can all hope that the overall quality of our own league improves, then it really won't matter what else is going on. Is this likely? I don't know, someone that has followed the ECAC since the HE split should tell us whether they think the overall quality of the league has rebounded. I am hopeful, based on the continued excellence of the Harvby Big Red Colonel - Hockey

Re: 2005-06 Schedule - 19 years ago
Disappointing OOC schedule for all of the reasons cited above. I would hope that we are TRYING to schedule better OOC games - perhaps renew the BU series and try and get a WCHA opponent. I imagine that this is the best we can do given our limitation on games played. I think playing a better OOC schedule is even more important than ever given that we are replacing UVM with Quinny and the poor qby Big Red Colonel - Hockey
Re: Whats going on.....TV??? - 19 years ago
Hey folks, I live down in KY and my DirecTV folks have no idea that "alternate" channels even exist. I'm still on the phone trying to make sure that Altitude Alternate will be on Ch 657 or 658, but they simply do not know. Has anyone had confirmation that a feed will show up on one of these channels? I am currently being told that I can only get the alternative feed on a local chaby Big Red Colonel - Hockey
Woe is me ... - 19 years ago
Stinks that the game is so late on Sunday (if we are fortunate enough to make it). I need to find a way back to Kentucky (sad, I know) in time for class on Monday morning and simply can't do it. Breaks my heart to not be able to get to the games.by Big Red Colonel - Hockey

--> this was my calender entry today "In 1898, while attending a Cornell University v. University of Pennsylvania football game, Herberton Williams, a Campbell Soup Company executive, was so taken by Cornell’s bright new red-and-white uniforms that he convinced the company to adopt the colors as its own."by Big Red Colonel - Hockey
Audio for tonight? - 19 years ago
Hey folks, I'm a total newbie about this internet audio stuff. I purchased a gamepass from RealNetworks so I can listen to the game, but when I click on the link for "Listen" from the CBR homepage I get the following: "Want to enjoy College Sports Pass content? The RealPlayer version we have detected on your computer is too old to use with College Sports Pass. You canby Big Red Colonel - Hockey

Penalties - 19 years ago
I hope that many of our penalties are from scrappiness and toughness, but we simply can't succeed in March by taking 11 penalties against a team like BC or Minny. Gotta be thrilled with a shutout and a 5 goal game however. Can't wait for next week!by Big Red Colonel - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs. Princeton - 19 years ago
5-3. Breakaway PP goal for Cam Abbott from Pegs and one other (couldn't hear the announcer over the background) . ... and another penalty on us with 8:30 or so to go.by Big Red Colonel - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs. Princeton - 19 years ago
Sounds like we are picking things up a bit. We're on a PP with 9:40 to go.by Big Red Colonel - Hockey

Re: Quinnipiac in - 19 years ago
This is awful. I think we should change our name to Atlantic Hockey II. I had really hoped that Holy Cross' tradition and academic quality would trump all of the other factors. Our league is struggling and this move will only make the Big Three stand out further. I hope Quinny proves me wrong - they have plans for a new arena and seem really committed to their program - but I can just never sby Big Red Colonel - Hockey
Re: What's with the poor out of conference schedule? - 19 years ago
I don't think many folks mind the "cupcake" opening weekend. I recall in the last few years playing (and destroying) Alabama-Hunstville and several other weaker teams. What has me in a tizzy is the Thanksgiving week game against Canisius. I was banking on a BU game that weekend and I am sure all of us would like to have seen a top notch opponent. I agree with folks that rink size anby Big Red Colonel - Hockey
Ryan Vesce - 19 years ago
Hi folks, Does anyone have an idea as to where Vesce will be playing hockey (if at all) next season? I grew up a huge fan of Mark Pavelich. He was a tiny kid that starred at UMD and played for the Miracle on Ice team and them played center for the Rangers for several years. Vesce really reminds me of him and I'd love to see him get a shot in the NHL. Cheers, Mikeby Big Red Colonel - Hockey
Re: '04 - '05 Schedule - 20 years ago
Have fun at the games. I'll be playing hookey to watch at home. It was cool being in Albany for the regionals two weeks ago - I heard about a dozen or so Cornell fans shout "Red!" during the anthem. I'd love to hear your thoughts on Cornell fan presence as well as the overall atmosphere when you get back. Cheers, Mikeby Big Red Colonel - Hockey
Re: '04 - '05 Schedule - 20 years ago
I'd be real disappointed if we are going to play Army and Sacred Heart and not play a Hockey East team or another pair with a CCHA team. It wouldn't be such a big deal if we played the same number of games that schools outside of the Ivy League play (though I happen to believe nobody should begin playing until November 1st), but given our limited schedule and the current doormat status of the ECby Big Red Colonel - Hockey
