Re: Recruits 2024 and Beyond - 24 days ago
Swampy scoop85 Swampy Scersk '97 scoop85 With no more games to focus on here’s a late season update for our listed recruits. We have plenty of talent in the pipeline: I have never seen us line up the talent at center that we seem to have and are bringing in. I have to assume some of those guys are going to be converted to wing, but my god. IIRC, Dan Lodboa was a forward when he came to Coby jkahn - Hockey

Jeff Hopkins '82 "I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now." I saw the Byrds sing that at Barton Spring Weekend my freshman year. Great version of My Back Pages here:by jkahn - Hockey
Re: NCAA regionals in Springfield - 4 weeks ago
Dunc Unfortunately for us students a lot of people may have Prelims the Thursday before spring break - I imagine some will try to come on Saturday tho if we advance Time to repost this 55 year-old solution. I do disown any responsibility if it doesn't work: The Saturday night before the '69 ECAC's was the last regular season game of the year. I get to the game early as always, and I'm informedby jkahn - Hockey
Re: Cornell's Sprint Football HC stepping down - 2 months ago
jtwcornell91 upprdeck ugarte i'm sure it's cool but very few schools play it so i struggle to care. it's not like wrestling where the diversity of weights is built into the format, since all of them wrestle together. i also wouldn't care about short-guy basketball. some schools play JV football as well. Back when the Ivies only let sophomores and up play varsity football, there was also Freshby jkahn - Other Sports
Re: Cornell @ Union, 2/10 - 2 months ago
Trotsky Iceberg Did that noob color guy really say that Cornell wears cherry? Deep cut Harkness joke. Harkness came from RPI. Harkness lightened the Cornell sweater color from Carnellian to RPI's color, cherry. Harkness went on to Union after his Red Wings stint (and was canned for recruiting improprieties). Ned was not canned at Union. He resigned. The final thing leading to his resignationby jkahn - Hockey
Re: Cornell at Dartmouth, 1/27 - 2 months ago
adamw BearLover adamw BearLover arugula Appears that the pwr is not changed. Cornell lost RPI in the PWR. Because it was in OT and on the road, it wasn’t as bad as it otherwise would have been against the 44th ranked team. But we dropped from ~.5528 to .5500, meaning we are closer to 16, and farther from 14, than we were when the night began. A drop is a drop - though it came from SOS, not fromby jkahn - Hockey

Malinski with 12:02 of ice time and +1 for the Avs last night. If there were 3rd assists, he would have gotten one as he did figure in the Avs 4th goal last night, It is about 3:30 into this video (he's the right-handed d-man that makes the pass up the ice).by jkahn - Hockey
Re: RIP Kevin Pettit ‘71 - 7 months ago
Swampy Trotsky George64 randyranger I was told (many people talked about it) that in the previous year's V vs F game (October,1967) that Kevin scored a hat trick against Ken Dryden...the ONLY player to do so in Dryden's 4 years at Cornell. Quite a factoid. As pointed out by a friend, including citation, apparently not true. See Cornell University Hockey by Adam Woden, with research by Arthurby jkahn - Hockey
Matt Stienburg - 8 months ago
After becoming a free agent by not signing by Aug. 15, Matt Stienburg did sign with Colorado, the team which drafted him.by jkahn - Hockey
Re: 2023-2024 Predictions - 8 months ago
CAS Cornell has 5 seniors, including a backup goalie. The team has 10 players who recently participated in NHL development camps, including 6 draft picks. I suspect Bearlover is counting 2 seniors aince O'Leary, Rego and Penney are only 3rd year players, though academic seniors, having sat out their freshmen Covid year.by jkahn - Hockey

Cole Bardreau and Jeff Kubiak both signed new contracts with the Bridgeport Islanders, where each has been for awhile. Bardreau appeared in one game for the New York Islanders this past season.by jkahn - Hockey

617BigRed So now that we know we are at ASU in Jan., any word on who third team at Lake Placid holiday tourney will be? Dec. 29 Cornell vs. UMass Dec. 30 Cornell vs. ASU or Clarksonby jkahn - Hockey
Re: Ray Sawada - 1 year ago
Devastatingly sad news. The first hockey memory that came to mind was Ray's role in this play, right after exiting the penalty box. He makes a great pass springing Iggulden for a breakaway, and then fights for the puck along the boards, leading to the game winner. RIP.by jkahn - Hockey
Re: Wrestling 2022-23 - 1 year ago
Great tournament. Great last half hour. Vito wins. BU wins sending us to NCAA's at that point, 52 seconds left in Colgate-Harvard and I can switch my allegiance from Harvard to Colgate. and Yianni wins and in between Vito and Yianni, a Northern Colorado wrestler coached by 4-time Cornell All-American Troy Nickerson, won at 141.by jkahn - Other Sports

St. Cloud wins !!!! Now being reviewed for offside ???? St. Cloud still wins !!!!by jkahn - Hockey
Re: 2023 ECAC Post Season - 1 year ago
If Colgate wins today, the NCAA bid could very well come down to them having to lose the ECAC Final, whether it's against us or against Harvard.by jkahn - Hockey

Braden Birch - 1 year ago
I happened to get this article on my phone's google feed (it clear understands my interests). Since it mentioned Braden Birch (CU '13), I then googled him, and he's Director of Hockey Operations and Salary Cap Management for the Florida Panthers.by jkahn - Hockey

The Faithful should not be counting down the final seconds when the other team has the puck. We were just reminding them they had to shoot.by jkahn - Hockey
Re: #13 Cornell at Brown, Feb 24 - 1 year ago
Jeff Hopkins '82 upprdeck yup.. just either of those games last week we we stay pretty close to top 10 in in PWR.. now we need to play well the next 3(hopefully) and see where we are. Minn St and Omaha losing tonight would help us. Omaha down 5-1 and hopefully get swept. Minn St. lost and Omaha is down 6-2 with 5 mins left. We're back up to #12. But we need to keep winning to stay off tby jkahn - Hockey

Trotsky ACM Trotsky David Harding Who was the next Cornellian to make the NHL after Ken Dryden? Or any pro league? Fullan, the same season. Larry Fullan played 4 games for the Washington Capitals during the 1974-75 season. Brian McCutcheon played 17 games for the Detroit Red Wings that same season. Not sure which one got there first. Thanks, another thing to fix. Mccutcheon was fby jkahn - Hockey
Re: St. Lawrence at Cornell 2023-02-18 - 1 year ago
arugula Down to 15, yet still given 93% chance on chn. It's got to be way less than that. We may need to win the next 4 if we don't win the ECAC's. Goinig something like 4-2 the rest of the way won't change our RPI much, and both Hockey East and NCHC could very well have tournament champions who are currently below us.by jkahn - Hockey
