Scersk '97 RichH Key-epple Kop-pel Kep-pel Rhymes with “people” ?? My sneaking suspicion is that it's originally Köppel, which would normally be transliterated to Koeppel. Later, it was transformed, intentionally or no, into Keopple. My years-in-the-midwest spidey sense tells me that it will be pronounced Kepp-ull. He's from Wisconsin, after all. Do Justin Krueger and Matt Moulson's retirements leave Riley Nash as the last active pro hockey player who won an ECAC Championship with Cornell?by cbuckser - Hockey
Re: 2022 Incoming Recruits - 1 year ago
BearLover Cornell still has two more years of having to play against fifth year players, and of having to play against programs who can enroll them in graduate programs, something the Ivies cannot do. It will certainly benefit Cornell when we do not have to deal with this anymore. I don’t know the specifics, but I would guess that Cornell was able to land such a coveted transfer (Seger) becauby cbuckser - Hockey

mattj711 Weder profudge Team USA versus Sweden on ESPN+ leading 1-0 early in first right now. This is the U18 Worlds in Wisconsin. Incoming D Grace Dwyer had a couple of assists in a 6-1 win. Canada has four incoming Red players (and a 2023 commit) and lost its opener, 2-0 to Finland. There are two 2023 Cornell commits on Team Canada, Piper Grober and Karel Prefontaine. Trotsky scoop85“Currently committed to Cornell University…” hopefully isn’t meant to imply anything.Yeah, I didn't like that shit one bit. But I guess it's accurate. And after a hundred years of schools fucking athletes, athletes fucking schools -- while not wonderful -- is certainly preferable. Trotsky upprdeck they only gave the yr to teams that played the 21 season.. since the ivies sat out none of those kids get that year back now unless they were a 5th yr grad and went and played somewhere else i guess. Ivies: "We don't have to endanger our players' lives." NC$$: "Well I do. So fuck them and fuck you too." To be fair, the purpose of the NCAA not counting 2by cbuckser - Hockey

Swampy upprdeck interesting no cornell kids in there yet? Maybe if the IL doesn't screw things up this year, the guys will decide to stay where their hearts are. Two Cornellians have entered the transfer portal: Nate McDonald and Joe Howe.by cbuckser - Hockey

toddlose BearLover billhoward Iceberg There are some good defensive teams left but I don't see how Michigan doesn't win it all unless they have a really bad game or suffer a significant injury. Their play is on a wholly different level compared to any other team I've seen in the tournament Quinnipiac gave it the old college try in the third period, to 4-3, and they have to be thinking about the Sby cbuckser - Hockey

Trotsky marty Trotsky Seems to me this style lives or dies by how well Max is playing and the second half he disappeared. By what theory does the Ivy League not cause Andreev to disappear to some random grad program? Their logic in general is suspect but how can they make an exception to their "rules". Two alumni who moved to Sweden won some hardware today. Congratulations to Chris and Cam Abbott, the general manager and head coach of Rögle BK. #CHLFinalFor those who do not recognize the names, they are twin brothers from Sarnia, Ontario who graduated from @Cornell in 2006. When Ian Burt told the story the following day, the acid was not lost on the listeners. It was Canadian humour, eh? Scersk '97 Trotsky "We were just having a conversation, I just asked him how the game was," Burt said. It was 5–2 with less than two minutes to go in the third, and Shtrom had been getting absolutely shelled. Burt's clearly trying to make himself sound very innocent, anby cbuckser - Hockey

Dafatone ugarte my highlight of the weekend was an offense that was willing to plant near / crash the crease to take advantage of rebounds and loose pucks. I always think the Schafer offense - because it is too consistent to not be a coaching philosophy - is too reliant on looking for *the perfect shot* and endless cycling instead of looking for GOOD shots and second chances. billhoward an entire burrito wrapped in tinfoil Not only did Clarkson take away Cornell chem professor / provost / FL vineyard operator Bob Plane (RIP 2018) to be Tech's president (this would be 1980s), now they're claiming to have a hotel school. RichH ugarte BearLoverugarte clarkson is absolutely not a much better team. we were the much better team tonight. the 6x5 needs to be drilled better but come on we were kicking their ass. it wasn't 4-0 by accident. I don't understand this at all. Cornell was outshot 38-21 but was the much better team tonight?yes. objectively yes. clarkson was shooting trash from the red line like a penn state teaby cbuckser - Hockey
Re: Clarkson Game Thread - 2 years ago
BearLoverThe first Clarkson goal was bad goaltending. You cannot give up anything from that angle. Matt Galajda gave up two goals from the opposite angle at Dartmouth in Cornell's last game of the fall 2019 semester. I find goals like that immensely frustrating, because a goaltender can easily position himself to make it impossible to allow a goal from that angle. But, goaltenders these days arby cbuckser - Hockey

3-on-3 overtime and the RPI & PWR - 2 years ago
Last week Brandon Thomas explained the new ECAC and NCAA rules for regular-season overtime. In short, for intraconference games, the ECAC standings award three points for a regulation win, two for an overtime or shootout win, one for an overtime or shootout loss, and zero for a regulation loss. That's what the IIHF and a lot of European professional leagues do. I think it's a far more rational anby cbuckser - Hockey

MattShaf 4 point weekend after not playing a real game in 18 months is a great start. Look forward to building chemistry and developing finish over the course of the season. See you all in Lynah East next weekend. If we award metaphorical points for nonconference games, we should keep in mind that, according to the RPI/PWR's overtime-result weighting, it was a 2.2-point weekend. Come to thby cbuckser - Hockey

Both Matt Underhill and Ben Scrivens improved their rebound control tremendously during their time on East Hill. Not coincidentally, aside from Mike Schafer's first season as head coach, Underhill and Scrivens's freshmen years are the only seasons during the Schafer Era in which Cornell goaltenders had a collective save percentage under .900.
