Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Recruits 2025 and Beyond - 4 weeks ago
Well - what I tried to send previously was news that Michael Dec cleaned up at the St. Andrews College Hockey banquet. On the St. Andrews College Hockey twitter account / dated May 11, he won the following; 1. Practice Champion Award - awarded to the member of the team who achieves the highest cumulative average in practice statistics during the current season. 2. Offensive MVPby Redpucks1! - Hockey

Re: Next Cornell Men's NCAA Tournament appearance - 3 months ago
Whoops - the after 2030 vote was me. I answered too quickly and thought it was referring to the frozen four, not just making the tournament. I’d still stick with after 2030 for that but think we will be very competitive moving forward and could make the tournament as soon as next year. Lake Placid is tough on Q and most other teams in the ECAC are dealing with some early departures or significaby Redpucks1! - Hockey
Re: A LOOK AHEAD - 3 months ago
Thanks Bear. It is some random guy but I check Stanley Cup of Chowder daily right after looking through the elynah forum. This guy is pretty dialed in with prospects, draft picks, free agents, etc. I give his take a good amount of credibility though I hope he’s wrong in this case. I know Cornell loses a lot to graduation this year but if everyone returns combined with some excellent recruitsby Redpucks1! - Hockey
A LOOK AHEAD - 3 months ago
My apologies - I’m not very tech savvy. Hopefully this link came through okay. I’m a Boston Bruins fan and was reading the Stanley Cup of Chowder fan forum. Sounds like Dalton Bancroft is generating a lot of interest from pro teams. Seeing Haymes, Prokop, Taylor, etc sign pro contracts after their junior year makes me worry that we may lose some players before they’ve used up their eligibby Redpucks1! - Hockey

Wow Ratushny - your son must be a heckuva player if he played for BK! Where is he playing now? (By the way - like your user name. Ratushny is one of my all time favorite Cornell players!)by Redpucks1! - Hockey
Re: Recruits 2024 and Beyond - 11 months ago
One of my favorite days of the year is August 1st - the first day of college hockey recruit commitments. This year it will be 2008's committing. A year ago I had 3 players in mind for Cornell; William Moore/Ithaca connection, Cooper Dennis/Ithaca connection and Aiden Lane/St. Andrews College hockey. I really thought at least one of them would end up at Cornell, but all three ended up being aby Redpucks1! - Hockey

Re: Recruits 2024 and Beyond - 1 year ago
New commit!!! According to Chris Heisenberg Cornell picked up Maddex Marmulak from Nova Scotia. He is a right shot forward that can play center or right wing and was the league MVP of the Nova Scotia U18 Major Hockey League. According to Heisenberg he will be coming to CU in either 2026 or ‘27. Not sure where he will be playing next season.by Redpucks1! - Hockey
Re: Recruits 2023 and beyond - 1 year ago
I agree with you 100%. I would love to see what Coach could do with some absolute stud recruits, but, as you said, it apparently isn’t going to happen. Thankfully Coach Schafer is dedicated to his alma mater and didn’t seek out other opportunities where he could have competed for championships on equal footing with the hockey factories. It will be a sad day when he retires.by Redpucks1! - Hockey
Re: Recruits 2023 and beyond - 1 year ago
Disappointing to say the least. I really thought there was a decent chance that CU would get at least one of the three with their connections to either Ithaca or St. Andrew’s College. The good news is that Cornell continues to do an incredible job of identifying players that fit their style and culture. This past years freshmen class is a prime example. Redpucks1! Tomorrow is a big day on the college hockey recruiting calendar - 8/1 is the first day that '07 birth years can commit. (First day they could be contacted by schools was 1/1/23). I have no inside connection to Cornell Hockey, just a fan, but I'm really hoping they are in on these 3 players. In no particular order they are: 1. Cooper Dennis - Ithaca, NY!! Re: Recruits 2024 and Beyond - 1 year ago
Henry Major is definitely a Cornell commit. I check the Chris Heisenberg site every day and saw last night that he was listed as a SLU commit. I know his father well (we both coach high school hockey in section III) and immediately texted him to say congratulations to Henry on his commitment to St. Lawrence. He replied “thank you, but he committed to Cornell”. I said “ even better yet!!”by Redpucks1! - Hockey

You beat me to it Bear! Bill Howard - you are a very wise man and 100% correct with the comment "followed by soul-crushing setbacks." Yesterday may not have been soul-crushing but it was not good on the recruiting front. As Bear mentioned one of the guys, Aiden Lane, that I was hoping would commit to Cornell, has instead chosen Harvard. Oh well, his loss and poor choice, not Cornell'by Redpucks1! - Hockey
Re: Recruits 2023 and beyond - 1 year ago
I get your way of thinking Bill - I generally do the same. I remember that Wisconsin game back in the day - I think Dean Talafous was the Badger who had a big day to mount the comeback against the Red in that game. Add to the list the high stick disallowed goal against UNH in the 2003 Frozen Four. Ugh - that call was big. Nice find Weder; thanks for passing along that article on William Mooreby Redpucks1! - Hockey

Thanks Ursus. Is the portal here to stay or is this just a blip due to the pandemic? I check Heisenberg daily and also College Hockey Inc’s commitment site. Are there other college hockey recruit websites out there worth monitoring?by Redpucks1! - Hockey
Re: Recruits 2023 and beyond - 2 years ago
Chris Heisenberg just switched his college commitment list from 2023 over to 2024. I’m not sure how accurate he is with the year that recruits will enter school but if his 2024 list is accurate for Cornell then it looks like the roster will be short on numbers next season. He has Jacob Kraft(F), Ryan Walsh(F), Luke Devlin(F), George Fegaras(D) and Ben Robertson(D)coming this fall. All other coby Redpucks1! - Hockey

It has to be a very exciting time for you RatushnyFan. As you said, it is extremely competitive these days and there are so many good hockey players out there. Just to be in that mix is impressive. I’m not surprised that a 6’3”, 195 lb defenseman skating for a program like BK is getting some looks. I’d love to see him end up at Cornell and the fact that CU picked up a few recent 2001 commitsby Redpucks1! - Hockey
Re: Recruits 2023 and beyond - 3 years ago
Hey RatushnyFan - quick question for you. You said that your son plays on the same team as Charlie Major meaning the BK Selects U18’s. I believe one time you said you were from New Jersey and checking the BK roster it’s pretty easy to tell who your son is. He must be damn good if he’s playing for BK, that’s a great team and organization. If I’ve got the right player (I certainly could be wronby Redpucks1! - Hockey
