Times Article for Hockey / Stats Geeks - 10 years ago
Nate Silver has an article in today's paper that about 0.05% of the population could possibly get through, but which 25% of the people on this forum might read through the end. I'm part of the other 75% but wanted to share.by Nathan Chicowdy 92 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 3 Michigan 2 post game - 12 years ago
It took nine years, but this felt like the karmic counterpoint to the goal reversed against UNH in Buffalo. Michigan came out flying last night just like we did against UNH. The time taken to review the goal plus the reversal took the wind out of Michigan, just like it did to our '03 team. And neither game was the same after that. To be sure, the result of each game was based on the 60+ minuteby Nathan Chicowdy 92 - Hockey
Re: PWR Pedagogery - 14 years ago
Can someone please, please provide an updated PWR assessment for the coming weekend? Can BU face UnivNoHardware in the HE tourney and flip the CoP for us? Would CoP even matter for that comparison if we advance to Albany? Is NoHardware the only comparison that is up for grabs and is not 100% RPI-dependent? I need my PWR fix here, people.by Nathan Chicowdy 92 - Hockey
Re: ECAC SF#2: Cornell 4 Princeton 3 - Postgame Thread - 15 years ago
I always remember Albany as having poor ice conditions. That memory is most clear thanks to Harvard's rink-length shot at CU's empty net in the 2003 championship game. I swear that puck was going in, before it skipped up on end after crossing the blue line and rolled wide of our net. The resulting icing set up the face off in Harvard's zone that we scored off of to send the game into overtime.by Nathan Chicowdy 92 - Hockey

Great stuff. You can almost hear the "ping" in nos. 36 and 37.by Nathan Chicowdy 92 - Hockey
Re: BU at MSG 2009 tickets on sale this Friday - 15 years ago
Presale open to anyone at MSG website, starting at noon today. Code is HPREDHOT.by Nathan Chicowdy 92 - Hockey
Re: Other ECAC Results - 15 years ago
Good point. This also highlights the importance of the remaining games against Harvard, RPI and Clarkson are, since losses to them will hurt a lot of PWR common opponent comparisons.by Nathan Chicowdy 92 - Hockey
Re: Schadenfreude - Harvard hoops skirts the rules, says NYT - 16 years ago
One thing the article did not mention was the fact that (maybe it's not a fact - please correct me if I'm wrong), coupled with the recent tuition waiver for students of modest means, Harvard's decision to lower its academic standards for basketball players essentially is an end around the Ivy prohibition against athletic scholaships.by Nathan Chicowdy 92 - Other Sports
Re: Luke Galvin out, Paul Stewart in - 16 years ago
Anyone else remember Stewart's time as a defenseman for the Broome Dusters in the NAHL? If I recall correctly (I was 7), he led the team in penalty minutes.by Nathan Chicowdy 92 - Hockey

Ted Donato, Come on Down . . . - 18 years ago
Has there been any discussion of developing some chants/cheers/jeers mocking Donato for his appearence on The Price Is Right during his senior year? I saw bits of the video on CSTV (or something like that) earlier this year and it was quite funny. Some links to articles about it here: Seems to me that something like this should work: Fan: "Hey Donato, what do you bid on the dinettby Nathan Chicowdy 92 - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs. Minnesota post game thread - 19 years ago
What do we need to do to be the "host school" for a regional in Buffalo, Albany or . . . gasp . . . MSG? Whatever it is, the AD should get it done this summer.by Nathan Chicowdy 92 - Hockey
Re: NO GAME AT SHIP OF FOOLS - 19 years ago
I left a voicemail for the manager yesterday; he has yet to return my call. I'll let everyone know if anything develops. Assuming that there is a Sunday game . . . please let there be a Sunday game . . . are we in the same boat or will it be easier to find a place with the ESPNU feed?by Nathan Chicowdy 92 - Hockey
Today's games to be aired on CSTV in NYC - 19 years ago
According to the preview guide on my TV last night, Time Warner customers in New York City will be able to see today's ECAC games on channel 26: Ha-Ha/Toothpaste live at 7:00 CU/UVM via tape delay at 10:00. The burning question - for those with the hurculean will power not to get the score online: Will the CSTV broadcasters during the 7:00 game be sensitive to viewers of the tape delay gameby Nathan Chicowdy 92 - Hockey
Re: Terrible Red Towels - 19 years ago
Tampa Bay can have their towels. We should stick with wit and fish.by Nathan Chicowdy 92 - Hockey
Re: Penalty for Throwing Fish - 19 years ago
How is this even up for discussion? The fish is the thing. We can lose home games down the stretch, but we'll still have the fish. We can lose in the Frozen Four, but we'll still have the fish. We can suffer bad calls, bad bounces, cheap hits and worse, but we'll still have the fish. And damn it, someone may even sit in the box for two stinkin minutes and it sure as shit is worth it - beby Nathan Chicowdy 92 - Hockey
Lynah East 2005 - Single Tickets on Sale 9/20 - 19 years ago
Based on my call to the Harvard (sucks) ticket office yesterday, the multi-game ticket package bullshit of 2003-04 is no more. Single-game tickets for the Cornell game go on sale this Monday (9/20) with a 6-ticket/person limit. Let the Red and the Faithful remind Donato just how much Harvard sucks.by Nathan Chicowdy 92 - Hockey
Re: History of the Faithful - 21 years ago
My most memorable (figurativelty, but not too literally) Lynah moment: It was the spring of 1990 - my sophmore year. The Red had lost to Ha-ha-ha-rvard every god-damned time we played them for as long ans any student could remember. For years, we the Faithful had tied chickens to their goalposts, thrown newspapers, fish and even (a short-lived tradition of) dildos at those Cambridge punks, yeby Nathan Chicowdy 92 - Hockey
Re: Maine Game, televised? - 21 years ago
I agree that it's not listed anywhere; and it's not unusual for a bar to tell you that they'll put something on without knowing for sure that it's available ("just get your sorry, beer-drinking ass in the door". But I'm having dinner next door anyway, and it's worth a shot. Did I mention that this is a huge game? Oh baby. Despite what the neighbors say, shouts of "Let's Go Red&quoby Nathan Chicowdy 92 - Hockey
Re: Maine Game, televised? - 21 years ago
For those in NYC, I called the Sporting Club (Hudson & Duane?) and was told that they'd be able to put the game on one screen there. I plan to stop by. Big game.by Nathan Chicowdy 92 - Hockey
Who's Watching Maine? - 21 years ago
Will the Maine game be televised anywhere/anyhow? Any NYC residents know of a place that will have it on?by Nathan Chicowdy 92 - Hockey
