Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Women's Hockey 2015 - 9 years ago
Headed to the game this afternoon. Here's hoping for a better outcome now that they've had a game to get their regular-season bearings.by AnneDVM - Hockey
Re: Bardreau to U.S. National Junior Team - 11 years ago
I did get up at 4 AM, and the USA did convincingly beat Canada. Although Cole did not figure in the scoring, he continued to play a high-energy, pesky game and earned compliments from the commentators for his tenacity. It's nice to hear Cornell mentioned from time to time!by AnneDVM - Hockey
Re: Atlantic City Roll Call - 12 years ago
I can't speak to the child-ticketing policy, but I'm pretty sure there was no re-entry last year. I remember trying to find somewhere to have a big lunch on Saturday so that we could subsist on rink snacks for the next 8 hours. Oddly enough, there was very little quality food available in AC within walking distance to the rink at lunchtime, as most casino restaurants were only open for dinner.by AnneDVM - Hockey

Crodge2k and I will be there, showing a distinct lack of enthusiasm for being in Atlantic City, but our usual enthusiasm for Cornell hockeyby AnneDVM - Hockey
Re: John Harvards Pregame for Lynah East - 12 years ago
I would agree with the long waits, although when we first got there at 5:15, there wasn't much of a wait, but over the 1.5 hours we were there, we got plenty of food. I would not say there was a shortage. All in all, I would go to this event again, although I'd prefer if there were more of the "true" Faithful there.by AnneDVM - Hockey
Re: Hahvahd/Dartmouth Roll Call - 12 years ago
The King Arthur store is an excellent pre-game stop just over the border from Hanover in VT. I'll be at both games with Crodge2k.by AnneDVM - Hockey
People we know on the radio - 12 years ago
After returning home from Yale at 1 AM and having to get to work this morning, I dragged myself out to my car and turned on the NHL channel on the satellite radio. To my surprise, I came in on a conversation with Brandon Thomas on the Hockey on Campus show, discussing the (hopefully) upcoming 500th win in the Lynah rink building. After a commercial break, Adam Wodon was on, and although he mostby AnneDVM - Hockey

Crodge2k and I also found the Fairfield Inn in Absecon when searching TripAdvisor on Sunday night, so will be there as well. I had thought that the Borgata looked like an interesting place to look around on Saturday afternoon before the games (not gamble--that's not our style.) Any recommendations for a nice restaurant there or near the boardwalk in AC for a wedding anniversary lunch? (We convby AnneDVM - Hockey
Re: Princeton game 1/7 - 13 years ago
Crodge2k and I will be at the game. We're already in Princeton. The roads are fine so far, sidewalks only halfway decent.by AnneDVM - Hockey

Speaking of Bitz, I just checked the Panthers' site, and it looks like he is on injured reserve (elbow).by AnneDVM - Hockey
Re: UNH Pregame Thread (RIT and Denver too) - 14 years ago
Denver may be trying to figure how they'll get to Albany. The Denver airport was mostly shut down today due to snow, so hopefully they'll be able to get out here on time! On the subject of actual hockey, I think this is the first year that I haven't seen Denver play on TV at least once during the season, so I will be very interested to see their style during the first-round matchup.by AnneDVM - Hockey
Re: Albany Roll Call II: Electric Boogaloo (NCAA Regionals) - 14 years ago
Chris and I will be there, although if they win Friday, we'll drive back to MA so I can work Saturday morning, then return to Albany for Saturday night. I think we'll stay somewhere different to break up the monotony!by AnneDVM - Hockey
Re: North Dakota Postgame 1/22 - 14 years ago
I heard them mention that Roeszler was still sick with the bug that had gone through the team. They didn't mention whether he would be well enough to play tonight.by AnneDVM - Hockey
Re: Cornell 5 at UNH 2 (postgame) - 14 years ago
A few UNH fans commented to us at the rink that UNH did not play as well as usual yesterday, but one said, "We've seen Miami and Wisconsin play here this year, and you guys look better than both of them." Take with a grain of salt, of course, but nice to hear. Several people stopped us to ask, "How the heck did Cornell lose in Florida?! They look amazing." It was nice toby AnneDVM - Hockey

CUontheslopes jkahn Moulson scores at 1:02 of the first period, after the Caps scored at 8 seconds in. He's now leading the team in points. He's been quite a revelation for a team needed a boost. I don't think anyone (except perhaps the most optimistic CU fan) saw this coming. Good for him. It's great to see him succeed, even if he isn't a Ranger... Well, perhaps I am the most optimistic CU fby AnneDVM - Hockey
Re: Alumni In The Pros - October 2009 - Moulson vs. Bitz - 14 years ago
We were at the Bruins-Islanders game on Saturday, and it was definitely a fun one to watch, with a lot of intensity at the end. Moulson had some really good chances, and his line continues to move the puck well. I felt bad about his penalty, since it seemed like it gave the Bruins a little extra energy that eventually led to their comeback. ftyuvoceanst41sah67Byron Bitz and Matt Moulson both survived the final roster cuts made by the Bruins and Islanders, and will be in the lineup for their respective teams' season openers. Speaking of which, those of you with Versus can watch Bitz in the Bruins' opener tonight @ 7. Those of you with only NESN can grumble. And go to a bar, I guess. Hrpmh. And those of us who had Versus until lby AnneDVM - Hockey
Re: ECAC's moving to Atlantic City in 2011 - 14 years ago
I haven't been to Atlantic City in 16 years, but since I grew up in NJ, I spent 3 weekends there while in high school for the 3 years I was in All-State Orchestra. This was in November, and I can imagine the weather will be pretty similar in March. I found it to be a)economically depressed, b) depressing, c)cloudy and cold, d) depressing, and e) have I mentioned it was depressing? We stayedby AnneDVM - Hockey

Someone should find the Reign's message board and teach them to sing "Mugford's gonna kill you, Mugford's gonna kill you"...by AnneDVM - Hockey
Re: Dartmouth-Harvard Roll Call - 15 years ago
Chris and I will be at both games, although we may be a little late to Dartmouth. Cheering on the Big Red at Lynah East is the perfect way to celebrate Valentine's day!by AnneDVM - Hockey
Re: Sharks at Bruins tonight - 15 years ago
sah67It's near the end of the 2nd, and Bitz just leveled Murray along the boards...can't remember the last time I saw Douglas knocked on his ass by a hit. We replayed and watched that hit 3 times!by AnneDVM - Hockey
Re: Murray-Moulson-Brown - 15 years ago
An amusing mention of Matt Moulson in the Toronto Sun's fantasy hockey column (http://www.torontosun.com/sports/hockey/2008/10/12/7063171.html): FOXY BY PROXY: MATT MOULSON - Who?? What, you didn't draft Matt Moulson? Every year certain players without any real fantasy value get promoted to play with a team's best players and just like that, they have some value. The best example this season mby AnneDVM - Hockey

A nice interview from last weekend with Doug Krantz about his invitation to Bruins rookie camp and preparing to begin the pro season. Go to the September 18th entry. In the same entry, there is also a link to an interview with Chris Moulson, who was named an assistant captain for the Alberni Valley Bulldogs earlier this month.by AnneDVM - Hockey
Re: Krantz a Mountaineer ... er ... Nailer - 15 years ago
On this blog by the Alberni Valley Bulldogs' announcer, there is a short mention of Krantz's invitation to camp: Scroll down in the Monday September 8th entry to see a letter from Krantz's dad to the blogger. (This is also Chris Moulson's current team, if you scroll down further, you'll see pictures of him displaying the team's 3rd jersey.)by AnneDVM - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - November 2007 - 16 years ago
He doesn't get the NHL salary, but they do get "travel pay" every time they go up and down, so I've heard that they don't mind bouncing back and forth a bit. I don't know how the two $ amounts compare, but at least there's some compensation for having to fly across the country multiple times...by AnneDVM - Hockey
