Re: Quinnipiac signs 23 year-old transfer - 8 years ago
Just my 2 unrelated cents. In '72 the ILR school let this 26 year old Army vet transfer in to complete my BS. Yes I had the JC creds to qualify. Maybe the guy feels like he is moving up in the world academically. Insert smiley face of your choice here. Tom in Veroby tominvb - Hockey

Re: Estero 2015 - 8 years ago
You learn something new all the time. Since my only yearly experience with college hockey is in Estero I was not aware of a rule change concerning goal judges At the tournement they always use them. So I just assumed...by tominvb - Hockey
Re: Estero 2015 - 8 years ago
The areana does not shield the goal judges (the guy that sits behind the goalie with the button that turns on the red light tc, etc.), he sits on a high chair next to the fans. On one end there is seating for us mobility impared folks with folding chairs. I just sit next to him and we chat from time to time as the play moves to the other end. Notre Dame drew a huge crowd but there are always a couple thousand empty seats. Will be there with the missus and 4 friends (who always root against Cornell just to be that way, plus they are from New Hamshire.) So usually when Cornell plays I am down on the ice next to Irv the Goal Judge. Stop down and say Hi - bald old guy with a Red fleece Cornell shirt. Tom, ILR '74by tominvb - Hockey
Re: Clarkson - 8 years ago
Usually my only opportunity to see ther Big Red play hockey is the next tournement. Probably 3 teams in the top ten and one other who are not having the best of years. Ya'll come on down to Dixie, the weather is fine. And we will leave the light on for you.by tominvb - Hockey
Re: What's going on with this year's team? - 8 years ago
Watching the video clip, Angelo's OT shot was an absolute thing of skill and beauty. Very much looking forward to seeing this team here in Florida. Go Big Red. Tom ILR '74by tominvb - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs Quinnipiac, Saturday - 8 years ago
Bummer But they did send a message that the Red are back. Good luck guys and well played.by tominvb - Hockey
Re: Cornell 4 Princeton 3 - 8 years ago
What a pleasure this AM to check in here and see another win. Way down here in the Southland this is how we keep up, a day late so to speak. Attendance on the rise - amazing what winning does for the box office. Really looking forward to the Holiday tournement in Fort Myers this year - great line up and an exciting Cornell team. May even try to make it to Lyanh in late January. Best friend'sby tominvb - Hockey

For me, a sweep in the Florida Hockey Tournement, as that is the only time I get to see them.by tominvb - Hockey
Re: Freshman numbers - 8 years ago
I would like to see a current photo each year of the team members. A guy has been there 4 years and they still show his freshmen photo. Cheap! Tom in Veroby tominvb - Hockey

Re: Frozen Four - 9 years ago
That 73 semi versus Wisconsin still sticks in my craw. Up by 3 and Coach Bertrand leaves the first line in 6 plus minutes of the last 8. Hate Bertrand - Hate Wisconsin. Did enjoy beating them up in Jaxs a few years ago in the March Madness tournement. Better Days are coming as they say. Enjoy the summer folks. Tom in Veroby tominvb - Hockey
Re: Florida hockey tournement - 9 years ago
Ouch My bad, this 68 year old missed the goaltender switch. Thought Gillam came on in he beginning of the period. After the score we had a group discussion looking away from the ice. Again gujys my bad. My statement that Stewart's try out may be over still stands. Thanks for the correction.by tominvb - Hockey
Re: Florida hockey tournement - 9 years ago
SIGH, again. Attendance for first game about 1000. Monday, work day. I had another engagement for the evening so left. Missed the upset, man I wish that I had stayed. The good news. The boys played with heart, speed, toughness. Not afraid of the corners, not afraid in the slot. Often carried the puck in, not the dump crap of the night before. The bad news. Re: Florida hockey tournement - 9 years ago
SIGH!!!!! 2 of our good guys scrathed, and it showed. The game recap is very accurate but does not convey the skill level in the game. Both teams were primarily using dump and run because neither were consistntly able to carry the puck into the zone. It was frustrating to see. Goal tending was superb. Their guy owned the 1 and 4 hole so we attempted to go 2 - 3 and were just not accuraby tominvb - Hockey
Florida hockey tournement - 9 years ago
Off to Fort Myers in an hour. Will report what I see but I only see 2 games a year so my "hockey eyes" are not as good as they should be. Plus I do not know the players, and faces, and numbers like I should so the reportage should be mediocere, but so what, I hope to have a good time. Go Red.by tominvb - Hockey
Re: 2014-15 Schedule - 9 years ago
The goal judge is the guy in the little booth directly behind the goalie who turns on the light to indicate a goal. In Fort Myers there is not a booth so the seat next to him is usually where I sit when Cornell is on the ice. During the other non Cornell game I usually sit with friends in the row behind him. My friends usually root for Maine so it was best if we seperated during the Cornell coby tominvb - Hockey
Re: 2014-15 Schedule - 9 years ago
Florida Classic 2015 looks to be a super line up. Me, I can not wait to get a crack at Notre Dame this year. Assuming of course that we get to play them on the 2nd day. If you are there in Fort Myers this year you can see me by the goal judge (Irv, Dartmouth player from the fifties). stop by and say Hey. Tom in Vero Beachby tominvb - Hockey
