Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: FF4 '04 - 20 years ago
Well, ok, but beggars can't always be choosers. Something tells me if Cornell is in the final or even the semifinal, and you are at the Fleetcenter and don't have tickets, you'd be willing to pay more than face value to get in.by jd212 - Hockey
Re: FF4 '04 - 20 years ago
I have a feeling there will be plenty of tickets available outside the Fleetcenter. There are always tickets for everything in Boston at show time/gametime. Then there are those that hawk tickets for a living. There were plenty of tickets available for the Beanpot, and that always sells out fast.by jd212 - Hockey

In today's Daily Sun, it says they are going to Syracuse next fall. They recently took a trip to Australia and smoked the competition.by jd212 - Hockey
Re: Higgins Signs With Montreal - 21 years ago
Let's not get arrogant. CC is considered a very academically rigorous school. Just because he didn't go to Cornell doesn't mean he is academically inferior.by jd212 - Hockey

Re: Sac flies - 21 years ago
I used to think that sac flies don't count as at-bats. However, I was listening to the Yankees/Red Sox game on Tuesday, and Nomar's first at bat was a sacrifice fly. Now, he was on a 20 game hitting streak and the commentator commented that, should he walk at the rest of his at-bats, his hitting streak would halt. However, if none of those at-bats counted, why would his hitting streak end? On a sby jd212 - Hockey
Re: Nieuwendyk - 21 years ago
I am a Yankees fan, and I really in fact could care not care less about the Red Sox, nor the Mets for that matter. The problem I have with the Red Sox is its fans, not the players. I enjoy watching the team play, in fact. My team beats the Red Sox every year, so why should I dislike them any more than anyone else? At least they give the Yankees a challengeby jd212 - Hockey
Re: Rangers... - 21 years ago
I guess you didn't see last night's game, which was a sellout. Not to mention that Brodeur makes the highlight reel EVERY TIME he plays, so it's not fair to say he is not called upon to make very many tough saves. Granted, he doesn't make 50 like Giguere does a game, but the Ducks' defense doesn't do much to help him. Anyway, I would say that a much bigger reason the Devils don't sell out like tby jd212 - Hockey
Re: Rangers... - 21 years ago
That's kind of an odd comment. I find the Devils and Cornell to have incredibly similar styles of play. Oddly, the Devils' goalie gets most of the credit, it's obvious how fantastic he is, while the Cornell goalie usually has his stats clouded by the accolades of the fantastic defense in front of him. How could you say you are sick of the Devils' style of play, when hundreds of fans from those &qby jd212 - Hockey
Re: Hosting, Small Ice, and Face Shields - 21 years ago
Yeah, that's like saying if someone dies from complications due to surgery for a gunshot wound, the person who shot her/him didn't commit murder. Um, his helmet wouldn't have fallen off otherwise. Do you see a lot of other instances when guys' helmets have just fallen off, other than when punches are being thrown? People need to be held accountable. There is no place for that in sports. Re: 2003-2004 Men's Schedule - 21 years ago
I think you should all be more concerned about winning then about who we play. If Cornell loses against all these teams that you claim aren't big-name, than what's the difference who they are playing?by jd212 - Hockey
Re: Lethal Weapon - 21 years ago
chill out guys. In Canada, any form of financial aid is called a scholarship. It's just a different meaning of the word. It's not wrong. Who cares? And do you really think people in Canada know the Ivy League specifically does not give out athletic scholarships, or academic scholarships, in our sense of the word?by jd212 - Hockey
Re: Cornell pictures - help! - 21 years ago
In the FF pictures, the person next to Hornby, Vesce, and Bell in #22 sure looks like McMeekin. No idea who it really is. And there's a picture towards the end with Chabot standing and three guys sitting. It's labeled as having Chris Abbot in it, but I don't think so, because on the left is Palahicky, and the guy next to him definitely has a 2 on his jersey, so it can't be abbott, unless of courby jd212 - Hockey
Re: Non- Lynah Poll (OT) - 21 years ago
I'm not thinking about it too hard because it makes no sense. A possessive has to be followed by a passive verb. i.e. Age's polls are... Age's polls do... Age's polls make...., or followed by an adjective, like suck, rock... Maybe "Age polls small woodland creatures", but not "Age's polls small woodland creatures", and as for "Age's polls 37," well I guess I'm out ofby jd212 - Hockey
Re: Non- Lynah Poll (OT) - 21 years ago
what do "Age's polls small woodland creatures" and "Age's polls 37" mean? That makes no grammatical sense and left me confusedby jd212 - Hockey

Hey that's fine if you live there. It's a matter of opinion. But if you're talking about car culture, Boston is as far from that as you can get. I happen to live downtown now and can walk everywhere, even to work, but even before I did, a car is only a nuisance. And my trips to New Haven haven't really been that great, at least not the ones involving hockey games. My girlfriend used to live therby jd212 - Hockey
Re: Game analysis - 21 years ago
Then they decided to back way off, and just play defense. I thought that was a terrible coaching decision on their part that almost cost them the game. They won by a diving head save. And the TV announcers specifically said, UNH better not sit on this lead against this team, because they will give them a run for their money. And they practically did, tooby jd212 - Hockey

Age, I agree wholeheartedly. However, I wanted to ask you a question. If I am reading the last post in a topic and I click on 'next message,' it goes to the most recent post in the next topic, rather than the first one. It used to go to the top of the next topic, so I could keep clicking on 'next message' and read through. However, this way I have to scroll looking for the oldest one. Is there anby jd212 - Hockey

But Koronis won't put a name or number on the jersey. Keep that in mind. NCAA licensing regulations.by jd212 - Hockey
Re: Superstition - 21 years ago
That was my point. He may have a personal preference to be the last person on/off the ice. That is why he opted to be the last Cornell player off the ice.by jd212 - Hockey
