Re: Lake Placid-2024 - 4 weeks ago
Iceberg arugula I see he coached at SLU many many years ago. His son also currently plays for Colgate. He's had interest in the ECAC for quite some and during the 2012-2013 NHL lockout, he had been on color commentary for some NCAA games that were being broadcast nationally. Including a Harvard game at Lynah with Mike Emrick.by LGR14 - Hockey

sah67 Malinski got sent back down to the AHL to make room for Zach Parise, who just signed with the Avs as a free agent. It wasn't to make room for Parise. He was sent down because Jack Johnson and Bo Byram returned and because the Avs are entering the All Star break. Jared Bednar plans to use Malinski in a rotation the rest of the season. He has firmly established himself as the #7.by LGR14 - Hockey

cu155 Listed as streaming on ESPNNews (not clear to me if this is cable ESPN or works under ESPN+). If ESPN+ then solution would be ESPN+ subscription or Disney+ bundle that includes ESPN+ and Hulu and then using a VPN. If ESPN then solution would be Hulu subscription adding 'Live TV' package to get ESPN unless you have ESPN via a cable provider in the US that allows you to log in and strby LGR14 - Hockey
Re: "When The Red Come Skating In" - 1 year ago
A little hard to believe that the band has been prohibited from starting songs they can't finish before play begins (even if they stop as soon as the puck is dropped) but that the tubas continue to do their thing - i.e., prompting the students to scream die, drop dead, and go home during play (and from behind the opponent's bench). The a capella stopped when the band scuttled Gonna Fly Now aby LGR14 - Hockey

But I realize that there aren't a lot of potential opponents who have as many alumni in the NY area as the Ivies. Exactly. I felt the same, us playing Harvard at MSG Thanksgiving 2018 (and losing). CU2007 Students. Sing the Gary glitter song after the band stops. It’s fantastic. Gonna keep beating this drum Not a student anymore, but the band started playing it earlier, so now they finish the two verses before the refs drop the puck. It sucks. Need to bring back Gonna Fly Now when the teams come out and transition into Glitter.by LGR14 - Hockey
Re: Cornell - Providence - 5 years ago
So if there was no kicking motion, how did a puck traveling away from the net have enough momentum to travel back toward the net from the top of the crease? Old, but here: . The guy's skate provided the inertia that propelled the puck into the net.by LGR14 - Hockey
Re: Cornell - Providence - 5 years ago
abmarks jkahn jtwcornell91 I really hate the "no distinct kicking motion" rule. And his skate was clearly moving in the direction of the goal, so if that isn't a distinct kicking motion, what is? It clearly wasn't a deflection off the skate. It was a redirection, not a kick A redirection is when the player uses the momentum of the puck to direct it toward the goal. The puck here waby LGR14 - Hockey

upprdeck I was curious. Did Dean have caution warnings that he had to be that aggressive at the end ? Dean was down one by virtue of Foster's having over 1 minute of riding time. So Dean needed a takedown, or he needed to force two stalling calls on Foster, to get the match to OT.by LGR14 - Other Sports
Re: ECAC Finals: Clarkson vs. Cornell - 5 years ago
BigRedHockeyFan upprdeck it is interesting how they often ignore guys in the crease and other times dont.. is it more about interfering with the goalie that they care about? I'm guessing the crease violation looked minor to refs and because there was no contact between Austin and Klack, they didn't call it. Still, planting his skate in the crease gave Klack an advantage in scoring the goalby LGR14 - Hockey
Re: ECAC Finals: Clarkson vs. Cornell - 5 years ago
CU2007 ugarte imafrshmn Yeah, I don’t see any offsides. Topher let his partisanship show with his immediate “should have been offsides” commentthe explanation in the Cornell Sun was that as soon as the puck entered the Cornell zone on the poke check with the Clarkson player still offsides, the play should have been blown dead regardless of the subsequent touch up and reentry, but that manner of oby LGR14 - Hockey

Re: 2019 ECAC QF - 5 years ago
A national championship should be the goal every single year. The ECAC is not, and should not, be enough. Just because it has been almost 50 years doesn't change that. Toronto Maple Leafs fans will not be satisfied this year if they win only 15 playoff games.by LGR14 - Hockey
Re: ECAC QF Game 1: Union 3 Cornell 2 - 5 years ago
Trotsky RichH andyw2100 BearLover Puck was literally sitting on the Union goal line or Union crease on three separate occasions at least. On that note, there was one that was cleared off the goal line (or out of the goal?) by a Union player. It was reviewed at the next stoppage, which was several minutes later. The refs returned to the ice, ruling no-goal very, very quickly--probably in underby LGR14 - Hockey

Pretty clear that Ierlan is the answer in goal and that this season is really going to come down to winning enough faceoffs or getting good D - either one would be sufficient, both would be great.by LGR14 - Other Sports

andyw2100 kevdog8 Band alum here, hoping to be in Ithaca in a few weeks and I can report back then on what, if anything, has changed. Ummm...we know what has changed. Instead of playing Davy when the team hits the ice at the start of the third period and then transitioning into Gary Glitter, the band, at least this past weekend, started Gary Glitter well before the team came onto the ice.by LGR14 - Hockey
Re: Gonna Fly Now/Gary Glitter - 5 years ago
Beeeej LGR14 What's up with the band this year playing Gonna Fly Now before the teams get back on the ice, such that Gary Glitter starts early and fans are telling the Sieve he sucks before he's even on the ice? The old timing worked forever - not sure why they felt the need to change it. I wasn't privy to the conversation, but my impression is they've been moving it up a little each of the laby LGR14 - Hockey
