Re: Cornell 2 Yale 2 (2nd period) - 14 years ago
What were the 1st period shots?by beanmaestro - Hockey
Re: Cornell 0 Harvard 0 (1st) - 15 years ago
did i miss the fish toss? No worries, i'll just chuck this after a penalty call...by beanmaestro - Hockey
Re: Cornell 0 Harvard 0 (pregame) - 15 years ago
someone let me know when hahvahd hits the ice so i can chuck a flounderby beanmaestro - Hockey
Re: princeton @ cu - 18 years ago
Thanks for the updates! Are the penalties fall-behind-and-hook calls or for something respectable?by beanmaestro - Hockey
Re: Cornell 2 Clarkson 0 (2nd) - 19 years ago
well, umm, the under-18 team is really good this year?by beanmaestro - Hockey
Re: 1/7/05: Cornell 0 Brown 0 (1st) - 19 years ago
The Brown site is telling me "The system cannot locate the resource specified." I can't find a free audio link on the Cornell site. Anyone else having problems?by beanmaestro - Hockey
Re: Stuff for Hobey Underway - 19 years ago
Maybe instead we could please the woofing gods by nominating players at other schools?by beanmaestro - Hockey
Re: Yale chat at irc.freenode.net - 19 years ago
Speaking of frustrated, gametracker hasn't been working for me the last couple weeks. It just loads up the ad at the bottom and the USCHO link along the right side. That, and there's no working audio or a game thread going... Somehow I'll survive (and probably get more work done)by beanmaestro - Hockey
Majors for piddly shit - 19 years ago
It's hard to tell listening to the radio, but it seems like there are a lot more major penalties being called lately. Are people bleeding a lot more, or are the refs just handing out majors for what should be minor infractions? is this a less advertised part of the "crackdown"?by beanmaestro - Hockey
Re: Grade Inflation - 19 years ago
Most of the grad schools I'm familiar with run on a similar (or easier) scale. Frankly, a low B+ average is fairly harsh if the program requires a 3.3 (as did mine) or 3.5 (as did my wife's) average to complete the Ph.D. UC Santa Barbara's ECE Department has one professor who insists on grading grad classes on a C average, and it completely fouls up the system. They'd do something about it, buby beanmaestro - Hockey
Re: Penalty for Throwing Fish - 19 years ago
Hey... I just had a thought. I think some of us alums should write to Gene Nighman asking him to show more respect to Cornell's values by curbing his dishonesty in the future. Heh heh heh...by beanmaestro - Hockey
Re: Penalty for Throwing Fish - 19 years ago
Frankly, and I'm just playing a hunch here, I don't think the ECAC has handed Mr. Nighman a formal warning. If they had, he probably would have quoted and attributed it... I think he's just stating the existing rule in an imposing way to dissaude people from throwing fish. I think he's full of crap. And if I weren't in Santa Barbara right now, I'd be loading up on fish heads.by beanmaestro - Hockey
Obstruction Crackdown - 19 years ago
Does anyone care to guess how the crackdown on hooking and holding will affect Cornell this year? Will our formula of big, tough defense and forechecking help or hurt us, as compared to the speed & stickwork teams?by beanmaestro - Hockey
Re: [OT] New University Homepage - 19 years ago
It looks a lot better than the old site. Though I still don't understand why they're featuring the art museum pic... anything else would be better.by beanmaestro - Hockey
Re: Montoya/Bochenski - 19 years ago
Will the minor leagues play this season if the NHL is locked out? I imagine that has a lot to do with the decision of whether to sign a contract.by beanmaestro - Hockey
Re: Quinnipiac in - 19 years ago
Is QU with 18 scholarships going to put a better team on the ice than Holy Cross with none? It seems like the two teams have been pretty even the last few years with QU only getting 11. I'd think we'd be happiest having whichever team will be most competitive over the long haul...by beanmaestro - Hockey
Re: Rumors on ECAC expansion - 19 years ago
I read an article a while back on sports franchises and Vegas that made a lot of sense... If you're a casino owner, why would you want a franchise in town? It gives the locals somethings else to do than go to your casino. And it gives the tourists something else to do than go to your casino. 3-4 hours in a stadium is 3-4 hours not cranking slots. And frankly, not too many additional peopleby beanmaestro - Hockey
Re: Cornell 1 at Harvard 0 1st per. - 20 years ago
The announcers aren't exactly professional, but I like the audio feed. We can hear the cheers better than usualby beanmaestro - Hockey
Re: Cornell 0 at Harvard 0 1st per. - 20 years ago
thanks liz, I've got it up and running nowby beanmaestro - Hockey
Re: Cornell 0 at Harvard 0 1st per. - 20 years ago
the wma button under "Low Bandwidth and Internet-Only Sports" gave the same error. Is there a "Sports Feed" button I can't find, or is their system perhaps full?by beanmaestro - Hockey
Re: Cornell at Harvard 1st per. - 20 years ago
hey, i just tried getting the audio feed from harvard (clicked on the wma regular feed button) and got an announcement saying the station is "unavailable at this time. please try again later" anyone else having more success?by beanmaestro - Hockey
Re: FISH - 20 years ago
Is there a good reason Schafer couldn't arrange for the rink staff to be told: "If they get the fish past the door 'coat check', throw it at the right time, and only hit the ice or Mazzolini, leave them alone"? It sounds like someone in the Athletics Dept bureaucracy made this decision, and no one has bothered to override it. It ought to be reasonably easy to get someone to changeby beanmaestro - Hockey
Re: clueless fans - 20 years ago
If you wanted to put out cards with correct versions of the cheers, without annoying the Lynah staff, I'd think the best approach would be getting Schafer's say-so in advance. Given that it would reinforce crowd support, and cut down the "wrong" See-Ya cheers, I can't imagine why he'd object to a well-worded request.by beanmaestro - Hockey
Re: Cornell Hockey in Atlanta - 21 years ago
Robert- I'll be there with my wife. We're in town for a geek conference and should be able to catch at least the first two periods before we have to leave for the airport. Look forward to meeting you...by beanmaestro - Hockey
Games per year - 21 years ago
Where does the Ivy limit of 29 games come from? Wodon's article on the ECAC teams forming a new conference made it sound like the AD's were in favor of adding games but the ECAC said no.by beanmaestro - Hockey
Re: Bracketology article - 21 years ago
I suspect the Providence problem may well go away. They're only a #4 seed if they finish #13 or #14 and there aren't any surprise tourney winners. If BU sweeps them, it may knock them down a spot or two and out of the tourney. If they sweep BU, they may well make it up to #12 and be a #3 seed. Then all we need to do is TCoB and worry later about who we draw.by beanmaestro - Hockey
Cornell 1 - Princeton 0 (1st intermission) - 21 years ago
Was Murray's a blast from the point sort of goal? Now would be a good time of year for his aim to improve.by beanmaestro - Hockey
