ugarte George64 ugarte George64 My understanding of “red shirting” is that athletes matriculate, practice with their team for a year or two, but not play, but take some classes to ease their academic burden during their following four playing years. Hypothetically, could a non-Ivy athlete practice with his team for two years, but not compete, then play in his final two years, graduate on timby David Harding - Hockey

KenP It looked to me like Ryan was simply switching his stick from one side of his body to the other. Yes, it hit the DU players’s stick but definitely seemed to be without intent. Can a player just let their stick be knocked out of their hand (embellish) to try and draw a penalty? Yes, a little bit of sour grapes here just curious if (a) I’m the only one who thought that was a bad call, and (by David Harding - Hockey

chimpfood Do we know what proportion of the class is from early decision? It seems like a lot of colleges are really leaning into that to improve their yield which then lowers regular acceptance rates, causes students to apply to more colleges regular decision, and makes schools admit even more students early. CU2007 NIT vs Ohio State. That’s kinda cool. NCAA For the third-straight season, the NIT seeded only the top half of the 32-team field. The bottom 16 unseeded teams were placed into the bracket by the NIT Committee as close to their area of natural interest as possible. Columbus, Ohio, is close our area of natural interest? I think I see four top half schools closer to Ithaca.by David Harding - Other Sports

CUDrew0105 The going on to the ice after winning in the quarters went away sometime around 2008. We went on the ice routinely when we won quarters from the late 90's to mid-2000s. It was a really cool thing to do and the players seemed to genuinely enjoy it. Heck, it was how I got Iggulden to sign my home jersey (well to be fair, I had my girlfriend wear the jersey and ask him to sign it...but jeby David Harding - Hockey

BearLover There are only two realistic candidates to take over when Schafer finally decides to call it quits: Casey Jones and Ben Syer. Casey has had some decent success at Clarkson, but I think it’s very likely to be Syer, assuming he doesn’t take a job elsewhere in the interim. Syer is young and has been top assistant for many years during some of the best times for the program. It’s not goingby David Harding - Hockey

upprdeck I was reading a book on Ty Cobb and there is a mention that in 1900-01 a pro baseball coach drove a car into into an unlit Cornell Swimming pool. Wonder where that would have been at the time if its true. Beebe Lake?by David Harding - John Spencer Is Dead

George64 George64 Swampy From "The Poison Ivy in the Ivy League," Sports Illustrated, January 2, 1967: Harkness' boys at RPI tended to be slower than a lot of other teams, and it seemed that whenever a really fast-skating team came up to Troy the arena would get terribly warm, so warm that the ice often became soft and slushy. At RPI they said it was probably only coincidencehockby David Harding - Hockey

George64 David Harding The NCAA rule book does not have any objective criteria. The cynic that I am, leads me to believe that rink operators may adjust the ice quality to offset the skating characteristics of the visiting team. In baseball, the infield grass is cut to favor the home team, if you bunt a lot, keep it long. Absolutely.by David Harding - Hockey

osorojo What are the parameters of acceptable ice-surface temperature during a college ice-hockey game? Are these measurements made at required intervals or at the discretion of the home rink?
