So I return to my prior comment: hard to believe there are 250 skaters better than Robertson.by arugula - Hockey

Re: Cornell lacrosse 2024 - polls 4/15 week 10 - 4 days ago
billhoward Cornell loses by 1 goal to the #1 team and drops a position in the polls to 9th. 10th in RPI. Media poll is in, Quint Kessenich's personal poll is in (Cornell 10), USILA coaches poll strolls in late Monday / Tuesday. All have Yale rated above Cornell by 1-2 positions, FWIW. Men's Division I Media Poll Rank Team Points Prev 1 Notre Dame (8 - 1) 500(25)by arugula - Other Sports

BearLover Laughing at teams like BC/BU/NoDak/Quinnipiac losing just doesn’t hit the same when they’ve won national championships recently. (BU fans might try to claim 15 years is a long time, but to a Cornell fan it’s definitely not.) At the same time, each brutal loss by Cornell feels extra crushing because it’s been so long since we’ve won at hockey or lacrosse (“our sports,” as scoop85 puts itby arugula - Hockey

Was rooting for BU shockingly. Eastern bias. We beat them. Caron was an Ivy Leaguer. If BC gets through have to root for them-Malone.by arugula - Hockey

marty BearLover Pghas My understanding is that Wishart is headed to play at Middlebury. Such a difficult thing to predict who will develop and how. Guys who lit it up in juniors sometimes get to college and are a little fried and maybe don't push as much as they once did. Or maybe they hit a ceiling while other kids really do not. Trotsky arugula Hopefully Q losing their top guns has the impact Harvard losing theirs did. Watch Rand's head explode...Q can just reload with whatever's available. Harvard has to at least ostensibly pretend to observe admissions requirements (I know, I know). Hopefully what’s available isn’t great. The grad years types are the danger.by arugula - Hockey

Correct. Ives is corporate but the extension programs are heavily union based. I am a union lawyer and when I was at ILR in the 80s I think it was more corporate.by arugula - Hockey

Trotsky RobbTrotskyThe world needs finance bros too.Needs? What - are the poors hungry again? "Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard." Fwiw my friend the BC grad is a union organizer. I guess that’s the opposite of a finance bro. A bit closer to the Jesuit tradition.by arugula - Hockey

Would the Ivy have allowed Malone and Tupker to play? I don’t think so as they were playing as grad students.by arugula - Hockey
Re: ECAC Early and Grad Departures 2024 - 18 days ago
Seger still has a grad year? Go to another school? I think both Bancroft and Ondrej would be nuts to go pro now. Their games are nowhere near ready for NHL and do they want to toil away in the ECHL or AHL versus getting coached maximally by Schaf to be as ready as possible. Minor league money is not that good.by arugula - Hockey

jtwcornell91 Trotsky arugula It is? I’ve been following college hockey for forty years (oy vey!). Never experienced it from the BC group. 40 years here, too. It is. It's primarily the self-absorption of Bostonians. BC students are likely to be locals. BU gets a large contingent of kids who didn't get into Ivies, so the solution of Boston Idiocy has been diluted. Trotsky arugulaWow. Ad hominem much? My experience on bc’s campus was a good looking group. My experience with people who call others physically unattractive is they generally should buy a mirror. Ad hom is attacking the poster. I was attacking the people of Chestnut Hill. Obviously, any friend or blood relative of yours who has attended BC is stunningly beautiful, and would be a New Englanby arugula - Hockey

It is? I’ve been following college hockey for forty years (oy vey!). Never experienced it from the BC group. As to not recruiting in Canada, if you have New England, why bother? I don’t see that as sanctimony I see it as realpolitik. I’m more regionally biased. I pretty much hate all the western schools and BU and of course our league rivals.by arugula - Hockey

Jeff Hopkins '82 Trotsky Robb DU, UMich, BC, BU. Does the blood get any bluer? The two western teams with the most championships and the two eastern teams with the most championships. Yawn.Minnesota for Denver would be bluer. Go Pioneers. Least objectionable of the F4, with a fine Cornell history. Yep. That's where I stand, too. Perplexed by the objection to BC? Can you explain.by arugula - Hockey
