Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Alumni in the pros -- January 2015 - 9 years ago
Well, since no one else posted it: Greening clears waivers. Seemed inevitable due to his contract, but at least he'll get ice time in Bingo.by TheMatrix - Hockey
Re: Cornell v. Princeton Only audio - 9 years ago
I had the same confusion. It turns out for this game the video stream link is listed under the "Audio Only" section and the audio only stream is listed under the video heading on the schedule. Hope this helps.by TheMatrix - Hockey
Re: 11/2 Quinnipiac - 10 years ago
WillCMJr There was a random moment in the second period that here was a mostly standing ovation. There was no penalty, no goal, play was stopped, etc. Anyone know what happened? I could be mistaken but I think this was right after Cornell killed the second penalty of the 5v3. There was a stoppage right as the penalty expired and people looked at the scoreboard and realized that both penalties werby TheMatrix - Hockey

White #'s available 3,4,5,8,9,10,12, 15, 18, 19,20, 23,24,28,29 You get them from me in person at the Teagle Hall issue room or we can send it to you by mail. Re: CU vs Yale - 11 years ago
Bummer of a result last night. Agreed with the really dumb penalties from Lowry and Mowrey. From my angle, it looked like Lowry straight up whacked the Yale guy in the groin--should've learned from Gostisbehere in the World Juniors. You probably shouldn't do that right in front of the refs after your opponents just scored. Nevertheless, here's Ferlin converting early:by TheMatrix - Hockey

After being lazy for the past few weeks/games, I actually uploaded the goals against Colgate: Bardreau (PPG): D'Agostino: España (because the España videos get more views than the goals by a wide margin):by TheMatrix - Hockey
Re: Cornell 6 USMNTU-18 2 (FINAL) - 11 years ago
RatushnyFan What about Craig Esposito, did he play this past weekend? Huge kid, seems like a great story. Since he's played varsity golf for a couple of years I think, does he only have 2 years of varsity hockey eligibility? Was he on the practice squad the last couple of years? I'm curious if anyone thinks he'll get playing time or if he's a depth addition to the roster and being rewarded forby TheMatrix - Hockey
Re: Cornell 2 - Brock 2 (Final) - 11 years ago
The power play looked awful. They started looking tired mid-second period and there was some serious sloppiness by the third. The first Brock goal was frustrating because it looked to be under Iles, frozen, yet they let play continue until it was poked into the net. In all fairness, it was all way down the ice so I can't really say. I was just frustrated because not 2 minutes earlier, the offiby TheMatrix - Hockey
Re: Cornell 6 USMNTU-18 2 (FINAL) - 11 years ago
Here are the first period Cornell goals: Hilbrich (1/2)--not entirely sure what happened here. Hilbrich goes down while trying to pass and his stick falls near the net. Whether the puck hit the stick or the glove and bounced in, or Miska just wasn't ready and it slid past isn't clear from this angle. The game writeup says it knocked off the D-man who slid into Miska and in. Miller--he getby TheMatrix - Hockey
Re: Cornell 6 USMNTU-18 2 (FINAL) - 11 years ago
Whoops, what I meant to say is they worked hard to force opponents to turn over the puck.by TheMatrix - Hockey
Re: Cornell 6 USMNTU-18 2 (FINAL) - 11 years ago
Mike McCarron seemed even more physically imposing than Hilbrich. He seems even grittier than his brother and was very effective in forcing us to turn over the puck. I got a little anxious any time he got near our puck carriers because he was so good at breaking up the plays. I also streamed the American Prospects game some weeks ago and his play there was even more impressive than last night, asby TheMatrix - Hockey
Re: Cornell 6 USMNTU-18 2 (FINAL) - 11 years ago
Willcox and Stoick are big and worked hard to turn over the puck. Willcox seemed to get more ice time. Their playing style seems more like Birch than D'Agostino or Ryan. Knisley is small and quick and was not selfish with the puck. His positioning and passing were good and helped set up a goal and several other chances. Tiitinen, as in the Red-White game, has some speed. He showed some flasby TheMatrix - Hockey
Re: What makes a great/bad college hockey jersey? - 11 years ago
Instead of bumping an ancient thread on game worns, I'll just post this here. With the Red-White game out of the way, last year's game worn jerseys are available for purchase, $100 each. Only the away red jerseys are available; Bill said they didn't replace the whites for whatever reason. The nameplates have been removed. As mentioned in the FAQ, contact Bill Reynolds (wlr5) in the Teagle Issuby TheMatrix - Hockey

Re: Cornell Alumni in the Pros:October - 11 years ago
Greening's contract is one way. I wondered if I'd be able to catch him in action again in Binghamton, but no such luck. Scrivens is back with the Marlies. Riley Nash is back on the Charlotte roster with fellow Cornell alum Justin Krueger.by TheMatrix - Hockey

Scrivens stopped 35 shots as Toronto beat Tampa Bay 3-2 in overtime.by TheMatrix - Hockey
Re: Cornell Alumni in the Pros: April 2012 - 12 years ago
Toronto was unable to hold the lead and lost 6-5 in OT. Scrivens mishandled the puck behind the net a handful of times, but didn't give up a goal on those flubs. I thought he was very strong in the 2nd against an all but absent Toronto defense. Definitely some weird calls from the officials, including a huge, lengthy scrum (I think everyone but Miller was in the crease) leading to Buffalo's tyingby TheMatrix - Hockey
Re: Cornell Alumni in the Pros: April 2012 - 12 years ago
Don't you mean Miller-Scrivner? In other news, Scrivens not being tested too much, but looking good as Toronto leads 3-0 after one period.by TheMatrix - Hockey

Collins has officially signed a 2 year entry level contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets. He was 187th overall in the 2008 Entry Draft. Re: Cornell 3 Michigan 2 post game - 12 years ago
Jim Hyla TheMatrix Hunwick will make his NHL debut tonight (albeit with the Blue Jackets). He seems like nothing but class so I wish him the best. But he's sitting behind an ECAC goalie. Wow I can't believe I missed that. Last time I saw York, he was throwing a temper tantrum on Lynah's bench last year.by TheMatrix - Hockey

Our man in the center appears to remain onside as the puck crosses, but it is definitely quite close. I don't remember if the LW was onside or not, but he is not visible in the video.by TheMatrix - Hockey

Ask and ye shall receive. I found the no-goal video and added zoom and slow motion. I apologize for the watermark and run-length but I believe it's the only way you can see what happened. Besides, if you actually care enough about the call to watch the video you probably don't mind blowing 2 minutes. As best as I can tell, at 1:20 of the video, the puck goes off either Collins or the defender. Iby TheMatrix - Hockey
