Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Attendance at Lynah - 3 days ago
Cornell reported for the 2023-4 season an average attendance of 4,178, or 98% of capacity. I presume this is the number of tickets sold, not actual attendance at games. The attendance was the highest in the ECACby CAS - Hockey
Re: Goodbye Alumni Fields... - 3 days ago
Playing at Booth Field seems to agree with the team. Cornell has a 7-2 home record this year. Cornell baseball’s last Ivy title was back in 2012by CAS - Other Sports

Wonder if Charlie Major could get drafted this year. He’s currently 7th in the USHL in both goals & total points.by CAS - Hockey

Andy did hire Matt Kerwick, Bill Courtney, Tim Pendergast and many others who weren’t very successful at Cornell. Not everyone is congratulating Andy for keeping Dave Archer (29-71) for 11 years so his successor could hire the new coach.by CAS - Other Sports

That would be fantastic news. Charlie Major is currently 8th in points in the USHL. Would love (can’t wait!) to see them both wearing the Cornell jersey…by CAS - Hockey

Football was not always a weak point before Andy. In the 11 years before Andy became AD, we had 6 winning seasons. During Andy’s tenure, we had only 2 winning seasons in 23 years! (including his first year as AD).by CAS - Other Sports

Last nite’s game was sold out. No tickets were available yesterday for the game. Re our frosh, they have been outstanding. They account for about 40% of our goals & assists this year. If Robertson gets drafted this year, that would make 6 of the frosh class.by CAS - Hockey

Wolfenberg was listed in last year’s final NHL Central Scouting rankings. He may be injured this yr (has played only 14 games with 5 points).by CAS - Hockey

Re: Dan Swanstrom new Cornell head football coach - 4 months ago
Encouraging presser introducing our new HC. Both Ryan Lombardi & Nicki Moore spoke of additional resources being provided for football. Can’t wait for Coach Swanstrom to get started.by CAS - Other Sports
Re: Dan Swanstrom new Cornell head football coach - 4 months ago
Looks like an outstanding hire. Strong record at Hopkins & Penn. Winner as HC at IC. History of recruiting at elite colleges & certainly knows the area. Second the need for Cornell to provide the resources he needs. Can’t wait for him to get started!by CAS - Other Sports

Re: Cornell football coach - 5 months ago
Why are the other sports irrelevant? Lax plays in the same stadium as football. Lax is relevant nationally, not just in the Ivies. Lax played for the NCAA championship just two years ago. Does Day Hall bestow special gifts to lax? Do they care about lax & not football? I believe football (& Schoellkopf) should get more funding, but coaching is the most important determinant of programby CAS - Other Sports
Re: Cornell football coach - 5 months ago
We are nationally competitive in lax, hockey, wrestling, and certain other sports. There is no good reason why we can’t compete in the Ivies in football. All teams at Cornell share the same admissions financial aid, student academic requirements, senior administration, etc. The coaching staffs are different though…by CAS - Other Sports
Re: Cornell football coach - 5 months ago
Maybe Jimbo Fisher would like to turn around the Cornell program? Texas A&M is rumored to be paying off the $76MM he’s owed under his contract. He won’t be needing the money to resurrect Big Red football. Hey Nicki Moore was an associate AD at Oklahoma & UNC. She knows big-time football…by CAS - Other Sports
Re: Cornell football 2023 - 5 months ago
I’ve long believed it costs a lot to win, but even more to lose. Cornell needs to invest much more in football (coaching salaries, facilities, etc.). I think the investment would generate a return.by CAS - Other Sports
