Re: Hosting, Small Ice, and Face Shields - 21 years ago
Addressing hard elbow pads, I believe they are still a good idea. While they may create more opportunities for head injuries, it takes an elbow to cause an injury, not a pad. Eliminating dirty elbows will do better than changing pads. Additionally, my personal experience with the softer foam pads is they blow. This year I injured a major nerve (ulnar) in my left elbow, probably from a hockey falby Robb03 - Hockey

Speaking of routines, has anyone noticed the Abbott brothers. During both the Canadian and US anthems, they stand dead still. I'm talking millitary-style, not moving, nothing. It kinda's freaks me out. Also, have you ever wondered what's going through lenny's head when he's crouched over before the starting line-ups are announced. What I'd pay to hear an inner monologue. Hornby Jail Time - 21 years ago
Does anyone know how long Greg will have to sit? Where can we find that out? Is there any possibility we can get him a seat right over the opponent's bench? I'd love to see him heckle from above.by Robb03 - Hockey
Re: Colgate 1 at Cornell 3, FINAL - 21 years ago
Avash writes "I love how Hornby has become a real fan favorite this year" The guys I sit with in D and I have grown such a fondness for Greg. We started the game betting the over/under on how many shifts until Hornby got sent to the box. (The O/U was 4 and I believe the U won on 3) But the turning point was the shift where he must have laid 5 good hits in a row. That was somethingby Robb03 - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs. Clarkson 3-0 FINAL - 21 years ago
In the online NCAA hockey rule book, page HR-61, Rule 16-6 (yes, I have no life) it says that "A goal is scored when the puck...passes...completely across the goal line". Thus, it's possible some of it could have traveled over with Lenny clamping it before the entire thing was over the line. And if he put that big glove on top, then no one could tell if it truly went all the way over.by Robb03 - Hockey

As for Hornby, he went to the box 4 times during the game. 3 on his own behalf and 1 for the bench penalty. In our section we joked that he should start to carve his name into the box with tally marks. On the uscho.com interview Doug alluded that Greg was the new enforcer, which leads me to believe he'll have many more marks to etch. And the break-away, he simply wasn't fast enough to get theby Robb03 - Hockey

The head ref tonight, Fulton (sp?) was horrible. He missed an insane amout of calls. One play specifically, there was a an obstruction, holding then our guy went to skate away and his stick was held. This guys makes the NFL refs look good. Not to mention that he blew the whistle way to quick when the goalies touched the puck with no one around. I think we had the "let them play" chby Robb03 - Hockey

Chris '02 writes: "Who was the Hughes that was on the hockey team here?" Kelly Hughes, he is Canadian. But I have not decided if that's better or worse than Great Neck, LI.by Robb03 - Hockey

Marr is a junior and Chebot a freshman. Where was Marr last year? Practice squad or a walk-on? And Chebot, did he come from some ridiculous junior league or just a feeder league. I saw them play red-white. They both looked pretty good considering the circumstances of the game. However, they did get get their lunch money stolen during the shoot-out portion of the game. This was probably dueby Robb03 - Hockey

What are the exact dates Lenny goes to the Canadian team? If he makes it, would he be back in time for the Jan 24/25 weekend?by Robb03 - Hockey
First Line - 21 years ago
This question is open for discussion and a brief history lesson for me. Judging by this weekend's performance and what has happened this season, has there been a more productive first line than the one we have now. Ryan seems to score almost at will, Matt is taking off, and Steve involves himself on almost every play. Although only together for 2 months it seems like these guys grew up togetheby Robb03 - Hockey

An idea that has worked before. Get a full-ankle air cast, limp. Remember, you can make the air-cast bigger. No-one searches the injured You do the math on the rest.by Robb03 - Hockey
Re: Cornell Hospitality - 21 years ago
I'm glad everyone now understands that my suggestion was only a joke. I'm from Chicago and when the Bulls and Jazz were playing, some Jazz fans gave a similar wake-up outside the hotel in Utah. But this should be a good contest and they'll probably need hot-tubs to soak after we administer a beating. Secondly, Moore is from a wealthy toronto suburb, maybe a tough guy on the ice but a suburb kiby Robb03 - Hockey
Cornell Hospitality - 21 years ago
On the schedule it says Harvard (sucks) is playing Colgate on Sat night. That means they must be staying somewhere between Ithaca and Hamilton. And leads or suggestions? Anyone in the band in favor of a 5:45 wake-up call?by Robb03 - Hockey
Re: Yale/Princeton thoughts - 21 years ago
The ref's call in the Patton (#14) and Bâby incident bothered me. Patton deserved to get knocked over. He knows the rules and ignored them. Dougie got his helmet knocked off v. Yale and he came right off. There is no doubt in my mind they sent Bâby to the box as a sympathy call. We get no love.by Robb03 - Hockey
New Banners - 21 years ago
As of about 10:20 am today, Nov. 7, they have placed the 2002 IVY CHAPMION and 2002 NCAA TOURNAMENT banners on the rafters of Lynah. Man, are they beautiful.by Robb03 - Hockey

Mary Beth Grant wrote: Last year, someone threw a fish at a Harvard player during the national anthem, and hit him in his facemask. Good thing he was wearing the mask. If not, we could have sparked an international incident. Guess we should mandate masks for cooks now, as flying fish seem to pose a danger to all of us.by Robb03 - Hockey

Any chance Yale pull's a St. John's Maple Leafs and pulls some guys out who coul do damage? Or will this be another York where they don't get the memmo they have a power play? By the way, has Murry ever seen a Power Play slapper he didn't want to take. What a cannon on that guy.by Robb03 - Hockey

That's what I could have thought too. But it created a break-away, so we thought he may have gone to the locker room to receive his lashes.by Robb03 - Hockey
Falling Down - 21 years ago
Although it's old fodder, does anyknow know what exactly happened to Travis Bell in the York game? I'm thinking first period when he was just over our blue line then just fell on his ass. He then left the ice for about 4-7 min? Any answers?by Robb03 - Hockey
