Re: Cornell vs. Yale 02/13/2015 - 8 years ago
I don't think fireschafer meant that stuff like this doesn't happen in the pro ranks..and, I agree with his original post. Any coach remotely interested in maintaining team morale would have said something like "we took a really stupid penalty in the first period", rather than single one player out. I'm sure we'll hear soon how unruly and unmanageable this years's senior class is becomiby steveb - Hockey
Re: What's going on with this year's team? - 8 years ago
Our wins so far have come against teams that are currently 40th, 48th, and 55th in the PWR. Ask this question again after we've played Yale, Harvrad, Clarkson, St. Lawrence, RPI, BU.....by steveb - Hockey
Re: What a difference one goal makes - 9 years ago
Robb There was a guy on LaxPower who tried to make this same argument about JHU lacrosse - just X more goals, Y more groundballs, and Z more faceoffs and they'd be national champs! It was nonsense then, and it's nonsense now. He forgot that while he was asking for small improvements in raw numbers, he was asking for nearly 25% improvements overall. That's not just a little better - that's MILEby steveb - Hockey
Re: Gillam nominated for Hobey Baker Award . . . - 9 years ago
Interesting (if depressing) that the only team that's in both lists is Cornell....by steveb - Hockey
Re: Gillam nominated for Hobey Baker Award . . . - 9 years ago
The slide continues; we're now the 57th ranked offense in the country. Only RPI and Princeton are worse. #1 in penalty minutes/game. Not good.by steveb - Hockey

I just voted for him. Aside from impressive stats in net, he's only six points behind Lowry as team scoring leader.by steveb - Hockey

The guy makes millions a year playing a GAME, and he feels like his liberty and property are under attack? I wonder how, exactly..? Not enough income from capital gains, or carryover interest?by steveb - Hockey

I've been a Bruins fan since The Goal, and maybe I'll be one again after Teabagger Timmay retires (I don't object to his views, just the way he expressed them with the White House snub). In the meantime, I'm going to extend my love of Cornell hockey by rooting for Ottawa, San Jose, and the Islanders.by steveb - Hockey
Re: lles is not the answer - 12 years ago
OK, I'll start. It was frustrating to watch Andy at times last night. He makes some saves no one should be able to make (the post-to-post pad save in the first, right before Mercyhurst tied it at 1, was a thing of beauty), allows goals many goalies would stop (but aren't necessarily terrible goals), and (worst of all) seems to spend a lot of his time catching pucks at head height and above when iby steveb - Hockey

Primum non nocere... Isn't this the LEAST we should expect of the Lynah Faithful?by steveb - Hockey
Re: Letter from MetaEzra - 14 years ago
Hi everyone; longtime reader but first post here. I couldn't agree more with the Open Letter. I've been watching CU hockey at Lynah for a long time, and it makes me sad to look at a mostly empty section A when the team hits the ice. Maybe section N should strike a deal with section A: We'll work on singing My Old Cornell with gusto if you'll arrive a bit earlier.... Time to go make a coupleby steveb - Hockey
