Re: Red Cast Really Sucks - 11 years ago
Jim, sure could have used a voice of support like yours from the outpatient side back then. We were so far ahead of the curve on EMR that we faced heavy headwinds from many docs and even senior hospital administrators. You would have loved the lab results reporting, it was spreadsheet like with episodes (dates of care) as columns and rows as test results. The was a great benefit to patients comby cmoberg - Hockey
Re: Red Cast Really Sucks - 11 years ago
While I was the Director of System Services at Georgetown Hospital we developed a partial EMR in the early/mid 90s! Best features, IMHO, were the bedside order entry and results reporting (the platform was cutting edge client server with Sun Workstations, SQL back ends, and legacy anciallary system interfaces). Our design assertion was that cost savings came from directly presenting the orderingby cmoberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Brown Postgame - 12 years ago
While the second goal resulted from the defenses inability to clear the puck, Isles hugged the short side pipe with his lower body, but left a gaping hole from his waist up. That was a preventable goal with better body position.by cmoberg - Hockey

Re: lles is not the answer - 12 years ago
I thought Iles looked ok most of the time, but he showed very poor anticipation/reaction to the 5th goal (the one the went off a skate). He seemed frozen to his left when the pass went to the right.by cmoberg - Hockey

Re: I hate to say this, but... - 15 years ago
billhoward And no national championships. Sigh. It is amazing to see the leading scorers then had 50 and sometimes 75 points a season. Although that was the much a result of a bunch of 12-3 and 7-1 games against a Princeton, Yale, or Brown. The playing field is more level now, so to speak. It is a shame we did not not go far during that time. We matched up well with everyone. Think whby cmoberg - Hockey
Re: I hate to say this, but... - 15 years ago
Our hallmark is defense, but that has not hampered our recruiting in past eras. My introduction to Cornell Hockey was in the mid 70s. This was a period of high scoring and good goal tending.by cmoberg - Hockey

Re: Video quality - Cornell-Syracuse lacrosse - 16 years ago
What I have suggested is not as costly as you might imagine. I am not talking broadcast cameras and collosal pedestals. Besides, much of production value comes from composition and technique, not the equipment. Streaming encoder hardware is not very expensive. Cornell has big internet pipes. Wide shots are fine for establishing play, but they are to "distant" to project involvemby cmoberg - Other Sports
Re: Video quality - Cornell-Syracuse lacrosse - 16 years ago
Typical low budget quality hockey shoot has 1 center tripod mounted camera with big glass (can go wide or tight) and hand helds down low at each end of the ice. More upscale would use 5 cameras, 3 up top on tripods and the two down on the ice (this would be a bit much for a streaming production though). All camera operators should be in audio contact with producer directing/running the switchby cmoberg - Other Sports
Re: Video quality - Cornell-Syracuse lacrosse - 16 years ago
IHMO, the 500 KB feed for Hockey games is to low. Additionally, the production should feature 3 cameras (with good lenses), a switcher, CG, and video store. These are the elements that make a TW broadcast look better.by cmoberg - Other Sports
Re: [LAX] Cornell-Harvard at Gillette Stadium - 16 years ago
Sitting at the 50 yard line and in the first row at Gillette Stadium was a rare treat. I felt closer to the action than at any other venue I have watched the team at.by cmoberg - Other Sports

Re: C.U. In Albany!!!! a.k.a. Albany Roll Call - 16 years ago

Re: Union Roll Call - 16 years ago
I placed my order online last Friday, and today found out that they had done right by me and placed us in Section 8. I too had checked visitor section.by cmoberg - Hockey
Re: BU Postgame - 16 years ago
Cornell came out flat in the first. BU outworked us in our end, and got scores for it. There were times when I think we marginally carried play in the later periods. But those times were with BU sitting on a 3 goal lead so it may not be a fair assessment. And as much as we were outplayed, a lucky bounce here or there could have made if a 5-5 game late. So I dont think it was an emabarrasment. Wby cmoberg - Hockey
