upprdeck Why is the game this week on a Sunday? I would imagine it is because the folks at ESPNU needed content for the noon EDT Sunday slot.by finchphil - Other Sports

Harvard-Cornell is SOLD OUT! BUT there are still ways to secure your tickets. We've saved less than 50 seats on the Harvard side for our most loyal hockey fans! These seats are first come, first serve, so don't wait to lock yours in! To get your tickets and secure the best seats for Harvard-Cornell, contact Jeff Botwick in the Harvard Athletics Ticket Office at jbotby finchphil - Hockey

I wonder if Andy could lure John Tillman '91 back to Ithaca. With Maryland going to the Big 10, I think it's a bit of a downgrade for the Terps lacrosse program. Plus, he's a native of Corning.by finchphil - Other Sports

This picture was in the Boston Globe today to promote this weekend's lacrosse tournament. Note the teams, the score and the time remaining. So close.by finchphil - Other Sports
Re: Atlantic City Tickets: Which Side is the Home Team - 12 years ago
ConquistadorX90 Hey does anyone know which side of the rink at Boardwalk Hall the home team will get for the semifinal game. I want to make sure i see two periods of offense in the semi final game from the right section. I wouldn't lose any sleep over this. There will be a ton of empties...you should have your choice of seats to move around and see THREE periods of offense.by finchphil - Hockey

Re: Cornell 3 Northeastern 2 (Postgame thread) - 15 years ago
I love Bob Norton. Bob Norton is our best weapon. Three years ago it was "Colorado College has too much firepower for Cornell." This year it was "You have to like Northeastern's chances going into the third period." It is exciting to see how much bigger and redder Bob Norton's nose is every year....how much fatter he is. He didn't even bother to comb what's left of hisby finchphil - Hockey
Re: Polls 1/12 - 15 years ago
If I read the poll correctly, the IVY League has as many teams (4) in the top 20 as the Big 10!by finchphil - Hockey

Re: Lax Poll 4/28 - 15 years ago
According to the CU Athletics Website: Q: Why is your nickname the Big Red? A: The nickname "Big Red" for Cornell teams originated in 1905. The late Romeyn Berry '04, then a recent Cornell graduate, was writing the lyrics for a new football song. Since Cornell had no nickname at the time, Berry simply referred to Cornell as the "big red team" and it caught on. Berry wasby finchphil - Other Sports

Re: 2007-08 fan wishlist - 17 years ago
Rich SI'd definitely be in favor of that change and I know a lot of other fans who would agree. Is that determined by agreement of the ADs or by Steve Hagwell? I would imagine it has something to do with travelling. It's a long ride from Boston to Ithaca after a 7:00 pm hockey game. Starting at 7:30 pm would just make the ride end even later. But they could have the Friday game start atby finchphil - Hockey

Re: Tom Joseph - 17 years ago
Yes indeed, Tom Joseph was part of my childhood. I only met him once. Shortly after THE GAME against Providence on 3/6/79, I went to the WCHU studios and met Tom as I wanted to buy a copy of the audio tape from that game that he produced. I still have it and it is still the most memorable game I have ever seen in my life. Tom Joseph and Roy Ives were the BEST announcing duo for Cornell Hockeyby finchphil - Hockey

DeltaOne81That whole "will Miami get a #1" was the stupidest BS on that show. Pissed me off. We all knew they wouldn't, we all knew exactly where they would. 99% of the audience watching that show knew it was entirely silly. Exactly who do they think they're kidding?
