Re: Yet another collegetown bar bites the dust - Today
George64 This thread prompted me to look at the Google Earth view of the Triphammer Road area. I was in grad school when Friendly’s replaced the pond where we occasionally played 3-on-3 hockey. Now that’s gone, replaced by Kingston’s Cuisine, whatever that is. Jamaica me crazy.by marty - John Spencer Is Dead

stereax BearLover Trotsky For the NC$$, unless I am misinterpreting, it introduces greater risk for Q'ing players by delaying their freshman season until their first prostate exam. Younger players are safer from being coaxed away to the pros. Or am I missing something? Neither we nor Quinnipiac are getting the truly high-end players who sign pro after one or two college seasons. Cornell/Q getby marty - Hockey

upprdeck So kids are drafted hoping they will be good.. If they do play well the team has to sign them or they go back into the pool? How is that a bad thing? I might not understand what you mean but the problem is that once you are 22 the NHL team will try to sign you - if they want you - and this is without worries as to whether you will graduate. I would think it's a bad thing if the rulesby marty - Hockey

Al DeFlorio billhoward Millman was .737 at Cornell in 2-1/2 seasons (including Covid 2020). At Hopkins, Millman .519 in 5 years. His mixed success at Hopkins suggests he might not be able to win at the highest levels consistently. I believe there is something special about Connor Buczek that got Cornell to the 2022 final and then to the pinnacle last month. I'd also like to have a Cornellianby marty - Other Sports

Beeeej Beeeej BearLover —it’s massive. 14 incoming recruits must be the largest in the history of Cornell hockey. The staff and leaders are going to have their work cut out for them getting everyone up to speed on the culture and expectations. Adding to the difficulty is that there is a new head coach, a new assistant coach, and very few seniors. IIRC, the incoming group in 1992-93 was also 1by marty - Hockey
Re: CORNELL WINS 2025 MENS LACROSSE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP! - 5 weeks ago
mike1960 Al DeFlorio mike1960 BearLover mike1960 I just re-watched the 4th quarter. MD kind of self destructed. Highly unusual for a Tillman team. 2 failed clears. An offsides. An offensive hold. That's four possessions lost when they desperately needed them. I would give Cornell more credit. All year long they’ve had an incredible ride and outlasted teams in the second half. ER toddlose Weder JasonN95 toddlose semsox I saw in the athletics notes before the game that this would not only be the first Lacrosse title since 77, but the first team championship in any sport for Cornell since then. Bask in it, because it doesn't come around often That’s insane. But hasn’t polo won several times? They may be club team tho. Too lazy to check Last for women was 2016 asby marty - Other Sports

BearLover Al DeFlorio BearLover The Rancor I play occasionally with a kid who's heading to Chicago Steel for Juniors, and to Maine for Collage (unfortunately, because he's so darn good) that Head Coach Mike Garman is off to Notre Dame to be Associate Head Coach. FWIW, the kid is super nice, an amazing player, but seems to have zero academic ambition and is only concerned with hockey and gettiby marty - Hockey

BearLover fastforward I wish Ben the best of luck! I’m very sad to see his departure but these things happen and they usually have a way of working out. BearLover adamw BearLover adamw To think NIL is not involved in college hockey is really off base. Some Big Ten schools are floating upwards of $100,000/year at players - currently. It would be pretty obvious Robertson got something, plus a full ride. The notion that $100,000 payments are remotely commonplace directly contradicts this article: The chart at the end says annual NIL earnings forby marty - Hockey

Re: 2025-26 Incoming Freshman and Transfers - 2 months ago
BearLover chimpfood We are losing 6 starting forwards and 4 starting defensemen and our goalie. Goalie is easiest to fill, probably just throw keopple in there, he’s earned it, but I’m sure Erick Roest also comes in this year to back him up. I think we’re actually in a fine spot in terms of forwards. The return of Devlin, Wallace, and Murray fills half the spots and we bring in Aiden Long, Chaby marty - Hockey
Re: Frozen Four - 2 months ago
Iceberg Good for Western Michigan. For a while, they were one and done in the NCAA's and then they go on to have this dominant season almost out of nowhere From what one of their fans told me this has been a 7 year or more progression that started with a coaching change. They were under the radar for many of us. I became a believer when I saw their tenacious puck control and teamwork on Thursby marty - Hockey
Re: Frozen Four - 2 months ago
ER billhoward I am happy with the Frozen Two that play for the 2025 NCAA title, Western Michigan versus Boston University: Western Michigan is overdue for a trip to the Frozen Four and now the title game. The last four years they've gone .679 ('21-22), .603, .566 and this year .817. BearLover Quinnipiac are going to be massive favorites next season. They are returning almost everyone and have at least five CHL studs coming in the fall. Everyone else in the conference (including Cornell) lost way too much to the portal/pros/graduation to compete with Quinnipiac. Wishing everyone on here, even the haters, a wonderful spring and summer. Hope to see you in the fall.....by marty - Hockey

BearLover CUDrew0105 Bancroft has signed with the Bruins. He will be assigned to Providence for the remainder of this season before a one-year entry level contract with the Bruins starts next season. Based on a recent conversation I had with one of the seniors, it sounds like it is a good scenario for him to join a team that is rebuilding and might get some play. CU2007 Not our sponsorship but there is one in Rochester in a few years. If we are there we should have, what, 5,000 fans? Albany also has a regional soon. RPI hosted at least one of the Albany Regionals but the last two were sponsored by the ECAC rather than RPI or nearby Union.by marty - Hockey

imafrshmn imafrshmn BearLover Minnesota got completely and utterly hosed by the refs in their game with UMass just now. If Cornell is going to lose, I just hope it isn’t like that.
