Scersk '97 marty Scersk '97 TrotskyI didn't even last 3 minutes trying to be impartial. I hate BC. BC West vs. BC East as far as I’m concerned. Both teams’ fans suck and are reviled by their respective conferences. And what school doesn’t bring their own band to the FF?! A pox on both their houses. I missed the band trivia. Wasn't that a D. U. band? Edina High School, from Edina, MN.by marty - Hockey

BearLover Pghas My understanding is that Wishart is headed to play at Middlebury. Such a difficult thing to predict who will develop and how. Guys who lit it up in juniors sometimes get to college and are a little fried and maybe don't push as much as they once did. Or maybe they hit a ceiling while other kids really do not. I have a son who is a good player and what they tell you is thatby marty - Hockey

Trotsky Per the Q USCHO thread they have only 5 guys left so far from the title team, despite the 5-year plan. IINM they have lost their top 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12 and 13 scorers from 2024, and their big goalie. FYP. Their beloved coach must be puzzled.by marty - Hockey

Iceberg Jeff Hopkins '82 ugarte DOESN'T ANYONE WITH SCORING TOUCH WANT TO LEARN HOW TO RUN A MARRIOTT? Hockey players aren't hotelies. They're business majors. Scrivens was a hotelie, no? I'm sure there are quite a few others players who have been hotelies in the past 15 years. Ugarte attempts humor and rather than critique the joke it's all out war over whether the team is stacked with Hoby marty - Hockey

chimpfood Basse is actually a great pick up for a school like Saint Lawrence. Seems like a weird choice on Basse’s part but who am I to judge. Maybe he is already on campus if he transferred so as to enjoy the Eclipse.by marty - Hockey

BearLover Trotsky Fillion leaves Q, to go with Quillan and soon to be Graf. Rand will just go shopping in the Portal, but still nice to see the volatility. We're stating to look like preseason favorites. I’m still confused, do you want the ECAC to be strong or not? Good Q players transferring out is bad for the strength of the league. I'm all for a strong league with Cornell in first andby marty - Hockey

Dafatone As someone who has anxiety about whether or not bad things HAVE happened, anxiety about whether or not bad things WILL happen sounds exhausting. Also, we got Seger through the portal, so it can work for us. But we don't exactly have a lot of room for newcomers unless something changes for the worse. Re: NCAA regionals in Springfield - 24 days ago
For the Albany haters: Times Union Latest News The women's basketball NCAA Tournament in Albany wrapped up Monday night when Caitlin Clark's Iowa beat Angel Reese's LSU to reach the Final Four. But the host city took a blow when an ESPN announcer said, to a national audience, "Good luck finding something to do in Albany." Ouch. Hopefully "Ted Lasso" actor Jason Sudeikisby marty - Hockey
Re: NCAA Tournament 2024 - 26 days ago
Jeff Hopkins '82 ER Great game but the piped on music is awful. Are we at a baseball stadium? Michigan has the best band. Where are they? Springfield was just as bad. Someone needs to tell these AHL rinks that we want to hear the band(s), not their piped in noise. Tell Denver to send a band, too.by marty - Hockey

Chris H82 marty arugula I wish the radio stream wasn’t delayed as I’d like to watch live and hear Jason. If you have a DVR you can delay the video to sync Jason. I tried that during the 2nd period of the Maine game, but after a few minutes it cut into several minutes of commercials (I gave up after 3 or 4 minutes and went back to ESPN audio). Anybody else have that problem? I didn't becausby marty - Hockey

abmarks for all this talk of smaller rinks wanting regionals more, if memory serves, there's been decent to excellent ticket historically for regionals in Manchester, Providence and Worcester, all of which are well north of the 5k seat mark. Granted attendance would vary depending upon how many of the local schools are playing there, but those have to be better venue choices than 3k-5k seat rinby marty - Hockey
Re: Opponents and Others 2023-24 - 4 weeks ago
chimpfood On the CHN podcast today Adam said that he supports teams being able to host regionals in their own rinks but should only play there if they are a one or two seed. To me, this makes no sense to not just do home games for the first two rounds. Firstly, it shows that he has no issue with schools hosting NCAA games in their home rink and this system doesn’t eliminate home advantage, it jusby marty - Hockey

jtwcornell91 Iceberg I find it crazy that the committee or whoever is responsible couldn't find another site in the midwestern US. There has to be a ton of better arenas willing to do this event at a tolerable cost. Now that they're doing the regionals on Thursday-Saturday and Friday-Sunday, couldn't one site bid to host both regionals? The Eastern sites are close enough that dedicated fans coby marty - Hockey

Re: Lake Placid-2024 - 4 weeks ago
Chris '03 Jeff Hopkins '82 To give you an idea of how second class this tournament feels, there are no programs at the rink and not even a QR code to scan for one (like there was last year). They just didn't bother creating one. Also, there's a single tiny stand selling souvenirs. None of it has the name of the schools on it - all the souvenirs simply have the tournament logo. Re: ECAC Semifinal - Dartmouth - 4 weeks ago
Scersk '97 Loved the moment deep in the third where our guys pinned it against the wall in the Dartmouth end for a good 45 seconds. Old time hockey. Old time hockey had a whistle after 5 seconds or so of that. Kevin Pettit used to pin the puck with flair when he wanted a face off.by marty - Hockey

redice Al DeFlorio Jeff Hopkins '82 I keep hoping we find some place better than LP, but sadly, I think there's not really a better option. But personally, I'm thinking Albany was better than here. Agree +1 Since I live in what could be called East Albany I was in favor of this but I remember a lot who favored L.P. imafrshmn arugula I seem to recall that the Boston Garden was nearly full for the ECAC in the mid 80s. I get that we can’t go back there, but how about Barclays or UBS or the Prudential. I’m sure MSG is too pricy. In the highly likely event that Cornell is in the semi finals there will be a strong likely five figure not half empty crowd. Having the event in small to tiny markets guarantees smby marty - Hockey
Re: Lake Placid-2024 - 4 weeks ago
imafrshmn Even though I love ECAC Hockey and would not want to change the conference (except maybe sending Q to HE), it's kind of bothersome how small-time this league looks in the postseason compared to HE and B1G. In football we have seen the B1G and SEC schools claiming that top tier for themselves and it seems like a similar thing is evolving in hockey. HE and B1G conference final fours are vby marty - Hockey

VIEWfromK Deep down I hope the guys call him Schafer to his face instead of Coach like in the Walsh interview. I was wondering has anyone ever scored a natural hat trick with empty netters? Was hoping Cashman pulled Black once more. I'm sure they don't sing this song!by marty - Hockey
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2024 - 5 weeks ago
rss77 Per the ESPN coverage-I know it's cheaper for them to have remote announcers but they could have invested in a on site spotter to convey the adjustments made in the respective teams' lineups. E.g. Cornell short stick d-middies- no Chris Davis or Aiden Blake doing shifts, etc. Could have also suggested that all teams wearing orange are not from Syracuse.by marty - Other Sports

pmbblblaw Section 11 tickets are not available online at the Lake Placid Brooks Arena ticket office. I called the arena and the ticket rep said I needed to get Section 11 tix from the Cornell ticket office. I just called the Cornell ticket office; it is closed, only open Tuesday-Friday.
