cquinn Bootless and Unhorsed plays at a downtown bar called Rasputin's. Problem is, they play from 6 to 9 on Friday nights. Not at all convenient for a hockey fan. Also, Rasputin's doesn't have quite the same beer-soaked, smoky, sing-obscenities-at-the-top-of-your-voice, dive atmosphere as The Last Chance Saloon did. But I do have a nice mp3 of the classic "Bugger Off" that I can seby jtwcornell91 - Hockey

jkahn Rita my niece is now a freshman in high school and is starting to look at colleges. I had lunch with her yesterday and it was a rare day when a teenager was in a chatty mood. She has been researching colleges in the northeast and has been checking out the IVY league schools. she wanted to know what was up with Cornell, the gorges and suicides. oh dear. blackwidow Joel Lowry now in Germany playing with Jake Weidner Weidner and Cornell get a shoutout in the German press release: Iserlohn plays in the top-level DEL, where they finished 13th out of 14 teams last season. I haven't paid much attention to them this year, since the DEL is split into divisions because of the pandemic, and Iserlohn is in the North while Mannheim is in the South.by jtwcornell91 - Hockey
Re: Greatest Game? - 3 years ago
I think that Brown comeback (the "Live at Lynah" game) was the most fun, although the game was not terribly significant, and Brown ended up blowing a lot of leads that year. I think the best overall package in terms of excitement, importance, and quality of game was the 1996 ECAC Championship win over Hahvahd. (Note that I saw the 1997, 2003 and 2005 title games on TV, so they don't qby jtwcornell91 - Hockey

scoop85 ugarte Clarkson - Colgate is on ESPN+. Just watched Clarkson score too go up 4-1. Game was delayed almost two hours because Colgate’s Zamboni broke down; they had to borrow one from Hamilton College, Since Hamilton College is not actually in Hamilton, NY, it must have taken a while to drive the Zamboniice resurfacing machine over.by jtwcornell91 - Hockey

George64 David Harding Several years ago we were driving outside Toronto and our GPS sent us onto am all-electronic tool road. Back home in Illinois a couple of months later we got a bill in the mail. Same happened to me — I recall it was a very hefty fee. I’ve been very careful ever since when driving near Toronto. This is a particularly sinister situation, since it's actually a for-profiby jtwcornell91 - Hockey

marty margolism I am pretty confident Union will be cancelling shortly. A four team ECAC this season? With Colgate's "We're just as good as an Ivy" mentality, I'm thinking they'll fold. Union is harder to predict. Bennett is a close second to Peckernall. The Ivies asked Colgate to cancel their season, but Colgate turned them down.by jtwcornell91 - Hockey

Re: RIT Cancels 2020-2021 Hockey Season - 3 years ago
upprdeck to play you have to commit to testing. Rit was going some.. I dont think another 100 a week to play hockey was gonna break them RIT has been doing a lot of wastewater testing, which presumably makes the process more efficient by effectively pooling a lot of "tests", but I suspect the strategy breaks down as you get more and more positive results.by jtwcornell91 - Hockey

Justin Krueger now with Lausanne HC - 3 years ago
jtwcornell91 So I just learned (via a facebook farewell message from the team) that Justin Krueger's time with SC Bern is at an end. Apparently they announced back November that they wouldn't be renewing his contract after this season. Apparently he's still a free agent. abmarks osorojo To what degree of certainty do we know this person bullied anyone? In the absence of any game or even a scrimmage USCHO demoted Cornell Men's Varsity Hockey from its first-place ranking to its sixth-place ranking?! This rather dilutes faith in any reports, judgments, or rankings produced and released by USCHO. horrid trolling attempt sir. But it does give us an excuse for thisby jtwcornell91 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 2020-21 plans - 3 years ago
upprdeck The goal was to get them home before the weather got bad in the cold states and now with 3 weeks left they might make it. I thought the goal was to avoid having kids go home for Thanksgiving and come back again with a bunch of new infections. At some point they have to go home at the end of the semester, but at least you can avoid an extra roundtrip in November/December.by jtwcornell91 - John Spencer Is Dead

Trotsky upprdeck There is a reference to Cornell in the new Netflix series Queens Gambit . A book the main char picks up on some mathematical theory shows Cornell on the cover for the writer. abmarks Jim Hyla abmarks French Rage upprdeck I see Atlantic Hockey might start as soon as Nov 13 now But when do real teams start? Re: ECAC Schedule - 3 years ago
Jim Hyla #2 This is exactly the reason why these tests should only be used by researchers. 10% false positive & 1% false negative is exactly the wrong way for a test like this to result. The worst that a false negative would do is make you continue to act safely. A false positive however might get you to act unsafely, and that's bad for you and all of us. Wouldn't a false positive make somby jtwcornell91 - Hockey

billhoward jtwcornell91 Jim Hyla Even doing a "whole" season in Canada would be very difficult. FWIW, the DEL (Germany) just announced that they're going to play a full season, but starting two months later and ending one month later than usual. Re: ECAC Schedule - 3 years ago
Chris '03 No Harvard until an ECAC final if this is correct. The ECAC is planning on a 20-game schedule. Teams will be broken into a New England division (Princeton, Yale, Brown, Harvard, Dartmouth and QU) and a New York division (Cornell, Clarkson, Colgate, RPI, Union, SLU). 4 games vs. each division opponent. NO games vs. other division.— Mike McMahon (@MikeMcMahonCHN) September 25, 2by jtwcornell91 - Hockey
