Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: UMass 0 at Cornell 0 (Friday) postgame - 16 years ago
Much of what I have to say is redundant (Scrivens was awesome, UMASS is very good, crowd energy was great, as was the reffing.) My main gripe is Schafer's refusal to make Greening-Nash-Barlow-Nash-Gallagher the top PP unit. The difference in talent between them and the Scott-Sawda unit is unit and day, yet topher's unit is getting the majority of the extra man time, Everyone and their motherby evilnaturedrobot - Hockey
Re: Next BU game - 16 years ago
That's disappointing, if true. Kind of strange that this agreement was finalized last spring, there was no scheduling issue this year, yet there are conflicts two years down the line? You'd think that it would be easier to fit a game like this in the farther out you got. But whatever, as Killer said, I'll be there when it happens.by evilnaturedrobot - Hockey

ugarteevilnaturedrobot Oh come now. So the countless posters that have complained about the subject have all secretly been pretending to care about hockey just so they can come on this website and prove to other hockey geeks how hardcore they are? Not "pretending" and not "just" but ... kinda. Trust me that the number is well below "countless." Well countless is aby evilnaturedrobot - Hockey
Re: BU Postgame - 16 years ago
Without seeing a replay I will just have to agree to disagree. But I saw it as a much faster play than others seem to have, but I could easily be wrong. Either way, I don't see Saturday night as Scriven's fault, nor do I think too many games are going to won or lost in net this year I guess I'm just more comfortable with Scrivens than others on this board. Re: Red Hot Hockey: The Fan Experience - 16 years ago
RichHevilnaturedrobot At no point on Saturday night did I feel that anyone else around me was living and dying with the team. There's a fundamental camaraderie to the Lynah experience, and that's lost when those standing around you don't seem to care. And call this silly, but I've always felt that we, as a fan base, have a reputation to live up too. It bothers me when we fall short. I getby evilnaturedrobot - Hockey
Re: Red Hot Hockey: The Fan Experience - 16 years ago
ugarteYou can tell how much someone really cares about the hockey by how much they notice the facetimers. As far as I'm concerned, an obsession with the so-called undesirables and one's Faithful cred is a different form of facetiming. Just watch the goddamn game and stop worrying about who else is there with you. If you want more noise, make more noise. Oh come now. So the countless posters tby evilnaturedrobot - Hockey
Re: BU Postgame - 16 years ago
I'd like to see a replay, but I recall it going in off a stick. Regardless, the fact is that the puck deflected off an object (stick, jersey, it really doesn't matter) that was positioned to the right of and behind Scrivens, who had squared to the shooter on his left. Now, the spectacular save would have been to have reached out to his rightand deflected that wide shot into a corner, but thby evilnaturedrobot - Hockey
Re: BU Postgame - 16 years ago
calgARI '07 Scrivens couldn't stop a beach ball and that fourth goal was both soft and an absolute back-breaker for the team who had gotten themselves back in the game. No coincidence that turned out to be the game winner. The fourth goal soft? It was a poor angle shot sent wide that was batted out of mid air by a BU forward left open infront of the crease. Beeeejevilnaturedrobotbillhoward Others criticized the facetimers. You can't have all 12,000 Cornellians be experts on hockey arcana such as the teams changing sides each period. (I was at Sunday's NY Rangers game and a companion wasn't clear why Jagr, in the penalty box, didn't release when Dallas scored. Answer: Dallas was in the box, too.) Re: BU Postgame - 16 years ago
What really frustrated me was that this loss was not strictly a matter of being overmatched, but also of being outworked. The second BU goal was a result of a BU forechecker laying a hard hit, causing a turnover and putting the puck in front of the net. The third was idiotic, as Roeszler just forgot that he was still on the ice as he went for a line shift. It's one thin to be outplayed, butby evilnaturedrobot - Hockey
Re: Red Hot Hockey: The Fan Experience - 16 years ago
hmm. It was certainly awe inspiring to see MSG filled for college hockey, and there are certainly parts of the experience that I will cherish (the "RED" certainly being one of them), but was I the only person put off by the fact that MSG on Saturday night was facetimer central? Now I know that this was expected going in, and that we never could have filled that stadium with the faithuby evilnaturedrobot - Hockey

What's lost in the majesty Ruegsegger's goal is that the move and outlet pass that made it happen was pretty awesome in it's own right.by evilnaturedrobot - Hockey
Re: Dan Nicholls Named ECAC Rookie of the Week - 16 years ago
well, I doubt that there's anyone on this forum that wouldn't classify Nicholls as a 'role player.' Still, he looks like a pretty mean role payer at the least, and it's great to see him get the honor. This doesn't take away the sting of losing to harvard, but it's nice to know that a lot of the guys on USCHO are probably tearing their hair out, seeing as they seem to more concerned with winniby evilnaturedrobot - Hockey

Mike Hedrick 01Amen. Screw BU, Potvin, too! Anyone going to the Rangers-Stars game on Sunday afternoon? I'm pretty excited for an all-hockey weekend. Yep, I'll be going to both Cornell/BU and Rangers/Stars, should be a hell of a weekend. Section 203 wearing a Tyutin jersey.by evilnaturedrobot - Hockey

Jacob '06RichHscoop85So, Murray's solidifying his place in the line-up, Moulson bursts onto the scene in LA, and Iggulden appears soon headed to the Big Show. All three finished their college eligibility, while the Cornellians who left school early in recent years are, by and large, floundering. Coincidence? I think so. Re: Princeton Postgame - 16 years ago
hockeydude Also the whole worst game you have ever seen by a Cornell goalie? You must not watch many games or you must not know what you are watching. How much Cornell hockey are you watching in Rhode Island? I've only been on campus for 3 years, which I stated when I made the comment. Over that time I have never felt less comfortable with the play of the goal tender. You're free to disagreeby evilnaturedrobot - Hockey

Re: Princeton Postgame - 16 years ago
As for my thoughts on the game: Too many bad penalties. You take enough of them and eventualy it will bite you. The Nichols hitting from behind was just pure stupidity (Seminoff had already played the attacker, there was no need to hit him) and the Kennedy slash was clear and apparent from A (and it happened at the other end of the ice.) Now, alot of the dumber penalties where Freshman mistaby evilnaturedrobot - Hockey
Re: Princeton postgame - 16 years ago
ebilmes Riley Nash spent a lot of time carrying the puck around the Princeton net without finding that nice pass or open ice lane that might lead to a goal. Umm, did you see the second goal? Nash came around the net and feathered a perfect pass.by evilnaturedrobot - Hockey
