Re:Ducks' coach mentions Hynes - 19 years ago
Anaheim Mighty Ducks' coach Mike Babcock was on a radio talk show tonight. He was discussing the depth of the Ducks' prospects. While he talked mostly about phenoms Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry, he did speak positively of Shane Hynes as well. Babcock said one of the essentials to success in the NHL is having enough "soul" to play hard every night through the long season. From what Iby Steve M - Hockey
Re: This Week's Column Up - 19 years ago
The article implied Cam Abbott will be back this weekend. Has he recovered from his injury? SLU is good, but our defense has been solid lately and no one has scored 4 non-EN goals on Cornell all year, not even BC. Thanks for writing these articles. They're always a good read.by Steve M - Hockey
New England Hockey Journal Article on Bitz - 19 years ago
Interesting article as Bitz talks about a couple things discussed on this board: playing center and coming back a bit too soon after his injury.by Steve M - Hockey

Since the UCLA-Stanford banter has long since waned, I have to give this a bump.by Steve M - Hockey

This weekend's games - 19 years ago
Well for as good as a fan base as we have at Cornell, no one seems to have much to say, either here or on USCHO, about this weekend's big games against Dartmouth and Vermont. I haven't seen Ari's column either. Isn't anyone pumped up for the first games at Lynah in over a month, against two very good teams no less? Are the students back from winter break yet? I sure wish I could be there thisby Steve M - Hockey
Re: PWR volatile, Cornell -> #8t - 19 years ago
It's that "weaker conference bias" in the PWR that a UAA fan complained about a month or so ago on USCHO. He does have a valid point. In the COP comparison vs. UML, we play BC once and Brown at least twice, while UML plays BC at least twice and Brown once. They have a tougher "COP schedule", but all the games count the same to determine the COP point. The same thing benefby Steve M - Hockey

It's not terribly common, but with the seemingly increased frequency of majors this season, it'll probably pop up more often. Re: Cornell-Union Postgame Thread - 19 years ago
More than 3 strides before a check is charging. It sounds like the correct call was made, a 2 min. penalty, rather than the major the Union announcers were calling for. Unless the rules have changed, 5 min. majors are only for hitting from behind, some boarding penalties, spearingand high sticking if it draws blood. Re: How good is this year's team? - 19 years ago
IIRC we had quite a few injuries last year during the bad stretch. The only key player I've heard that's hurt now is Cam Abbott. Is he expected back this weekend?by Steve M - Hockey
Cornell vs. Clarkson in The OC - 19 years ago
Are there any Cornell Hockey fans in Orange County, CA? I'll have the Fox Sports Grill at the Irvine Spectrum put Cornell-Clarkson game (Jan. 28) on a couple of their TVs. They have done this for me twice before even though I was the only one watching. If there are any of you out there, come on out and cheer on the Big Red!by Steve M - Hockey
