Re: 11/2 Quinnipiac - 10 years ago
RichH CowbellGuy I heard the people in D were told they had to sit. Not sure if that came from people in C or E complaining, but there it is. Wow. The traditional sit/stand battle-line has been Section G (see my own post linked below). That it has been very quickly pushed to Section D (leaping over even F and E) suprises me a lot. The last few times I was there (2 seasons ago), E was regulaby Kyle Rose - Hockey

Dafatone Kyle Rose Dafatone Most of the problems that are heaped on today's kids are actually problems for all of today's people. "Authority lies in someone else's hands for a reason" is a mantra for a whole lot of the population. Just look at the TSA, the agency that defines the tradeoff of liberty for illusory safety. Trotsky To help you out, this is ad hominem: I'd be a lot more likely to take you seriously if EVERYTHING you had written the last ten years didn't sound like a screen test for The Last Fellation of Murray Rothbard. So you're not disputing my argument, then? Glad we got that cleared up: it's long past time you admitted you were wrong on this.by Kyle Rose - Hockey

Trotsky Kyle Rose Trotsky So the relationship between the ushers and the fans has always been a negotiation. As a rule, the ushers want absolutely nothing less than to get into confrontations with students, but they will get in a shit ton of trouble if some drunken frat boy yelling THE REF FUCKS SHEEP at the top of his lungs topples over and squashes an 8-year old. DafatoneAnd I don't want to get all "kids these days..." since I think most of the factors are administrational, but there's probably something about technology making Ithaca a bit less isolated than it used to be, and students not being as fueled by desperation to lash out at opposing players. Oh well. Surely there are a lot of contributing factors, but the rink staff aren't making thby Kyle Rose - Hockey

Dafatone CowbellGuy I heard the people in D were told they had to sit. Not sure if that came from people in C or E complaining, but there it is. I believe that. Six years ago, I had seats in D, and a friend really got on the opposing goalie at the start of the 2nd. Kind of a quiet time before the period started, and my friend just was going on and on about how much the goalie sucked. No sweaby Kyle Rose - Hockey

Trotsky CowbellGuy I heard the people in D were told they had to sit. Not sure if that came from people in C or E complaining, but there it is. When one person in a row is standing then that person's a jerk who you can yell at to sit. If an entire row is standing if you yell at them to sit then you're the jerk. Peer pressure. Trotsky Now, I don't think anybody here is going to argue against us recruiting much better players (except Ralph ), but I do not think the big issue against Yale was strategic failure. It was dealing with a ridiculously over-skilled opponent. I'm just not buying this. I think the issue is more that The System either wasn't or couldn't be adjusted to counter the game Yale plays. BearLover Trotsky Kyle Rose Trotskywith Yale fading. Would have been nice if Cornell had been able to figure out how to beat Yale at their peak. Once in 5 years is pretty bad, and does not give me confidence that the coaching staff has any clue how to beat teams playing a similar game.I don't think there was really any "figuring it out." marty Kyle Rose After all my bitching over the past decade, let it not be said that I don't give credit where credit is due: the games this weekend looked fabulous. I watched on my 1080p phone, and it looked crisp and smooth. Now, that's presumably with N-O's camera and internet connection, but nonetheless it is promising. Android? RichH ursusminor Jim Hyla ursusminor Trotsky RPI gave up 7 goals on 23 shots to BC today. That game officially ended at about 6 minutes into the second period. So, I read the Troy Record article. Josh '99 Trotsky Dafatone No matter how things shake out, ending on a high note, or at least a possibly high note, is important to me. Last year hurt, but having that best of three with Q was a good way to go out. Agreed. 64 seconds from Atlantic City against the eventual NCAA Runner-up was pretty impressive.Except for the part about it being Atlantic City. French Rage TrotskyThe fact that many other schools with fewer resources, a lower national profile, and less investment in their technical programs destroy us in the quality of their streaming services is a brutal embarrassment. Trotsky Josh '99Is there a lesser Cornell sport than football?I said something similarly snarky last year and was (immediately and justifiably) reminded that football still outdraws hockey in alumni gifts by a huge amount. As a Jets fan, I can state with some authority that there are some loyalties that are simply unexplainable from any rational standpoint. phillysportsfan Kyle Rose Glad I didn't pay for this turkey yet. After years of abuse, Cornell gets the assumption of failure from me: they have to prove me wrong. I didnt think it would be magically be much better but the option is to pay and see the games in low quality or not see the games at all, I would rather see the games I'm sick of shit quality. srg1 I am just confused how someone can call MSG a dump after the most recent renovation. It is now like a brand new arena. Half the seats still don't have cupholders. I mean... WTF? I'm also a big fan of seamless glass. Stanchions are so 1980's.by Kyle Rose - Hockey

Trotsky Jim Hyla4.36 GPA (on 4 point scale)My wife had one of those stupid "greater than the logical maximum" GPAs in HS. Some schools weight AP classes so it's possible to be > 100%, particularly in places (like rural Arizona) where AP work by the average student is, ahem, not a routine expectation.
