ursusminor Kyle Rose ursusminor Have their been any NCAA hockey games in Cincinnati since that mess in 1996? To what does this refer? Sorry that I wasn't more specific. Wrong response: you should instead be rolling your eyes at me for not having been there in 1996 and not knowing first-hand.by Kyle Rose - Hockey

Rita Kyle Rose ursusminor Have their been any NCAA hockey games in Cincinnati since that mess in 1996? To what does this refer? A broken pipe during the semi-final game between Vermont and CC that cause really bad ice and IIRC a very long delay. Sounds like the typical rink I play at. Thanks for the link: Google had nothing to say about "1996 cincinnati ncaa hockey mess". Shocking.by Kyle Rose - Hockey

Robb I don't have a dog in this hunt, but Redcast looks pretty crappy on my Android device - it doesn't scale properly so I only see the top half of the video regardless of whether I'm holding it in landscape or portrait mode. I probably don't have something set right, but I'm too old to know how to fix it.... I see two problems on my Android tablet: (1) The video only plays directly in the bby Kyle Rose - Hockey

munchkin Kyle Rose nyc94 Maybe the hurricane could make Boardwalk Hall unusable. I was not the only one thinking it. My fantasy was: "Boardwalk hall collapsed!" --"Was anyone injured?" "Thank God, no!" --"Ok, in that case... good." I was just thinking that, too, after looking at this: In Memoriam: Atlantic City Boardwalk Wow. I feel bad for the sand dby Kyle Rose - Hockey

css228 CowbellGuy If you're wondering who they're talking about it's Shayne Gostisbehere. Conflicted about this one, but given that the NHL probably wont exist by the time he develops as a prospect I guess sucks for Union? Maybe sanity will prevail and we'll go back to having 3 or 4 professional hockey leagues in a few years. The NHL-as-pro-monopoly has been far more trouble than it's worth.by Kyle Rose - Hockey

cbuckser Kyle Rose Video quality is WAAAAAAAY better now. This is HD. Someone must have found the good video/bad video switch. (It's inside the doll next to the good/evil switch.) Crystal-clear 360p at 1400 Kbps tonight. This is RPItv-quality video. To these eyes, it looks better than 360p, but maybe that's because it looks so much better than the 36p they had before.by Kyle Rose - Hockey

And let it not be said that I never give credit where credit's due. I may also throw in an "it's about time" or "WTF took you so long??", but this alum greatly appreciates the upgrade.by Kyle Rose - Hockey

BMac Is this the first Engineer on the team in... ever? I feel like somebody looked this up forever ago to no avail. Andrew McNiven was in the engineering school. Don't ask me why I remember that.by Kyle Rose - Hockey

CowbellGuy Kyle Rose Programmers don't actually care what users think." Speak for yourself! I'm speaking empirically. Of course I care what my users think, but I'm a single developer with a user base of about 100. From experience in larger organizations, I know this attitude dominates: developers *claim* to care what users think, but they don't act in accordance with that, which means theyby Kyle Rose - Hockey

I really have to wonder if anyone at Sidearm or the AD actually uses their own product. It has really fundamental usability issues that should be caught in about 15 minutes of user testing. I repeat something I said on Facebook a few days ago: "If you talk to people who actually write software, you find that computers are the way they are because writing software is neat. Programmers don't aby Kyle Rose - Hockey

I see roughly the same quality (not HD) on both Android and my desktop. It looks smoother on Android, and less blurry simply because the screen is smaller. They still have work to do.by Kyle Rose - Hockey

Glad I didn't believe the press and buy a season pass. When others confirm the video of actual hockey games is more reliable and looks decent, then I'll give them some money. Fool me twice... can't get fooled again.by Kyle Rose - Hockey

Sigh. I guess we'll be driving in from Hague rather than paying the local hotel ransom. Still, even with all that driving, it still beats AC.by Kyle Rose - Hockey
Re: Full Shields closer to being eliminated - 12 years ago
nr53 I've only played hockey for two years and I've only worn a cage other than the one time I went to a practice a friend of mine was holding for the team she was coaching. I played without a shield or visor and the difference was really noticeable. I agree. There is a huge difference not having the cage on. I wear the cage because I want my teeth, nose, and eyes intact, not because I've fooledby Kyle Rose - Hockey
Re: Generic Off Season Thread - 12 years ago
ugarte Robb Jeebus. Stop all this bickering! I hate coming to the forum in the offseason and seeing 32 new posts! There's never any good news in the offseason... This isn't generic either. Please change the topic to "Arguing with adamw about the merits of Lake Placid". Or "The relative mediocrity of ECAC tournament venue choices".by Kyle Rose - Hockey
Re: Generic Off Season Thread - 12 years ago
jtn27 redice I will say this, LP is the only ECAC tournament location where I can recall a constant drone of statements that it's a "WONDERFUL PLACE TO HOLD THIS TOURNAMENT" from the media and the league officials. That tells me that they don't really believe it and their trying to convince the world. For example, when it was in Boston before the ECAC & HE split, nobody wastedby Kyle Rose - Hockey

Jim Hyla And this from INCH, make Tampa the permanent FF host. It's impossible to get cheap plane tickets to Florida during April. Don't know why, although I can speculate; it just is what it is.by Kyle Rose - Hockey

BeeeejMy impression is that most people here aren't assholes. I think Anne Coulter is an opportunistic idiot, but I wouldn't wish misfortune on her. If there were any justice in this world, both of them would be flipping burgers for a living.by Kyle Rose - Other Sports
Re: Other Regional Scores - 12 years ago
Luke 05 What's wrong with having a strong Union in the ECAC? All we do is complain that weak in conference opponents hurt RPI/KRACH/PWR, and now we have an opportunity to have two nationally recognized teams. I hope they all stay and the ECAC builds on the success of Union/Cornell this spring. +1 is not enough. QFT.by Kyle Rose - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Ferris State In Progress - 12 years ago
Scersk '97Don't know that I can support them winning a championship, however, because I'm not sure they've "paid their dues." I don't get this. Every year the slate is wiped clean: there's a reason the PWR doesn't incorporate historical data, for instance. If Union wins the national championship, I will congratulate them and ask why that wasn't Cornell instead.by Kyle Rose - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Ferris State In Progress - 12 years ago
scoop85 It just seemed to me that this year we just didn't move the puck quickly enough on the PP, therefore rarely getting an unimpeded look at the net. Watch the BC and Minnesota PP to see the difference. I think it's just that simple I agree. One of the things that I notice about better teams' power plays is that players never sit there with the puck: it's passed or shot *immediately* when aby Kyle Rose - Hockey
Re: Frozen Four Pregame - 12 years ago
jtn27 Jim Hyla In CHN's article on Union going to the FF, it states they don't give athletic scholarships, but "until a few short years ago, wasn't even able to give preferential financial aid to student-athletes". So what is preferential aid to athletes if it isn't athletic scholarships? I'm pretty sure Cornell does this too. I believe what it means is that if the school has $20,000by Kyle Rose - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Ferris State In Progress - 12 years ago
Oh, well: great game. I thought Cornell outplayed Ferris St. for most of the game, but made several errors, at least one of which cost them a goal.by Kyle Rose - Hockey

Robb ajh258 Robb#14 over #2 is an awfully tall order. Are you saying I came all the way from Ithaca to Green Bat for nothing? Might as well tell Schafer before the game so they can get a head start on packing the bags.Yes, that is exactly what I said. In this case, we both know Cornell is relatively mediocre.by Kyle Rose - Hockey
