Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Cornell vs Yale 11/12 - 7 years ago
And just like that Cornell joins QU to be the only other team with a 4-point weekend. Very good.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs Yale 11/12 - 7 years ago
This Yale team's defense is something to behold. Certainly not what it has been the past few seasons.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs. Brown 11/11/16 - 7 years ago
BearLover Brown is pretty bad. Our PP still can't set up a play. We scored some PP goals vs. Harvard, but they came in transition and/or from great individual efforts rather than being the result an offensive set. Tonight, we went 0-for-many on the PP, the worst of which was a minute-plus of a 5-on-3 in which we could only muster two Buckles slappers from the top of the circle. The big proby Iceberg - Hockey

I find it silly that the broadcast can't even show what exactly happened. And haven't we seen a possible goal overturned before at this rink?by Iceberg - Hockey

Another week, another road game. Now what are all the monikers that I've seen for Meehan? Mausoleum, dump, ice box...by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell v Harvard Complaints Dept. - 7 years ago
Johnny 5 I'm especially impressed with the Harvard commentators. Are they Shakespearean actors in the off season? Great baritone elocution. Still far better than the new guys they have in the Dartmouth booth, not that the old ones were any good either.by Iceberg - Hockey
Cornell 1 vs. Dartmouth 1 11/4/16 - 7 years ago
Beginning this year's ECAC regular season play at the same place where last season's ended. Dartmouth has 11 freshmen on their roster to start out the year. Regardless, they still managed to look somewhat decent last weekend to get a win against a Michigan team that's been having problems in its own end.by Iceberg - Hockey

Minnesota/Wisconsin in the North Country this weekend; and Michigan doing the old Vermont/Dartmouth travel pairing. What a time to be alive.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Around the NCAA, 2016-17 - 7 years ago
Colgate just can't seem to win a game at the moment, although that's a bit more expected than Providence's problems with winning games the past few weeks.by Iceberg - Hockey

UNH has not looked good so far in their two games. I wonder if this is the team we'll get at MSG come the end of November.by Iceberg - Hockey

According to some of my ears, Baker Rink has had some significant flooding issues recently. I wonder if some renovations are in order for that place. Of course, the building is ancient.by Iceberg - Hockey

Re: NCAA tournament 2016 - 8 years ago
ugarte Here's an important point. I turned the game on at 1-0 at some point in the second period. From that point on, at least, Q made Lowell look like they had never previously played hockey. Q didn't play all that well against RIT for the first 40 minutes...and then they showed up in the 3rd. RIT's problem was that they weren't very good at getting quality shots.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: NCAA tournament 2016 - 8 years ago
Some things I noticed at the games on Saturday as a spectator. -The RIT student area was really enthusiastic. The rock guitar that their band had was an interesting touch. -Quinnipiac had a pretty decent turnout. There were quite a number of folks around with their colors, although the few students that were there still aren't very creative with their jeers (Sucks! only goes so far). -Lowellby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: NCAA tournament 2016 - 8 years ago
That was Yale's game to lose...and they did. I must say that the Lowell fans reminded me quite a bit of Lynah with their sieve chants and goalie targeting. RIT certainly had the most enthusiasm though.by Iceberg - Hockey

Notre Dame will have more time to worry about their move since their offseason just began.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: ECAC Lake Placid - 8 years ago
We'll find out for sure tomorrow but I bet Q probably gets put in Albany while Harvard gets sent out west again. And of course Yale still isn't a lock considering that they're knocked out if Duluth and Minnesota win I believe.by Iceberg - Hockey

Re: ECAC 2015-16 - 8 years ago
Yale loses again tonight despite outshooting Dartmouth by at least 30. Theoretically, Cornell would get Harvard if the stars aligned tomorrow since SLU/Clarkson would get Dartmouth barring a miraculous comeback by RPI.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: ECAC 2015-16 - 8 years ago
The more I think about it, I could see Dartmouth winning again tomorrow. Aside from the regular season this year, they've typically given Yale fits. And Yale is basically in the NCAA tournament regardless of what happens I think.by Iceberg - Hockey

I was really hoping to see a game at Ingalls on Saturday, but there's no incentive to head there now. Hamden is much more of a pain to get to.by Iceberg - Hockey

Cornell vs. Dartmouth 2/20/16 - 8 years ago
Senior night in Hanover. Thompson Arena's 40th year and I don't think the Big Red have the greatest record there. The last I check it has actually been pretty even in terms of wins and losses since 1975. Of course, recent history hasn't been so good against these green goobers in general. 3 points separate these twoby Iceberg - Hockey

It seems like Dartmouth and Brown are well on their way to victories. QU trying to avoid a 2nd-straight loss but that game in Troy still has plenty of time left.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Brown @ Cornell 02/12/16 - 8 years ago
About a week ago at one of the rinks nearby I was wearing my Cornell jersey and another guy was in the locker room with his kid. He asked me if I saw the game against Q on television. We talked about that for a little but he later talked to the kid about what kind of jersey I had on. The guy then quietly mentions to the kid that he went to Brown and they had a very bad hockey team. Let's seeby Iceberg - Hockey

It's always interesting with these top teams how something just clicks at an instant. Those Cornell players seemed rather tired near the end though.by Iceberg - Hockey
