Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Mike Schafer retiring 2025 - 14 days ago
You know, this is funny because I was thinking about this the past weekend at reunion. I happened to walk by a restaurant at the Commons and saw him outside at a table with a few other people. Well, now here's the answerby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2024 - finals weekend - 4 weeks ago
If I hadn't seen the Maryland team bus in Center City or the various people wearing Maryland or Virginia attire today, I would've had no idea of any of the FF teams. Not much to be invested in this yearby Iceberg - Other Sports

BearLover Nice to see Princeton get destroyed in the NCAA tournament. But it will be nice when COVID eligibility goes away and the Ivies can compete with the Marylands of the world again. Did you not see any of the 2022 championship game? Nevermind the fact that Cornell was very competitive this season against some of the teams (including the #1 overall) in the NCAA's this weekend. rss77 Much less the pathetic shape of the swimming facility at Teagle. I believe some swim events have been moved to Glazer Arena at Ithaca College. At minimum they should be up to standards of the schools in the Ivy and Patriot League. I'm baffled this still hasn't garnered the action it should given that many people on campus use the swimming facilities and the school itself mandates a swim tby Iceberg - Other Sports
Re: Men's Lax Tournament 2024 - game times - 8 weeks ago
Swampy The idea that the late game has greater attendance because it gives people more time to drive doesn't seem credible. According to Google Maps, the university closest to Ithaca is Penn, which is 3h 43m away. With the game starting at 8:30, one would have to leave Philadelphia by 4:00 to be on time. If one's going to take off Friday at 4:00, they might as well take off at noon. Besides,by Iceberg - Other Sports
Re: 2024-25 MEN'S SCHEDULE - 2 months ago
I would think that leaves two more OOC games to fill in the schedule that will be somewhere on the road.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Opponents and Others 2023-24 - 2 months ago
chimpfood CHN has syer as a finalist for the Princeton head coaching job. Funny considering quite a few of the past years Syer has subbed for Schafer behind at Princeton due to illnessby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: 2024-25 MEN'S SCHEDULE - 2 months ago
Dafatone I believe we were the first team to sweep a weekend @UND in a few years. No ECAC team had done it until thenby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: MBB: Jon Jaques - 2 months ago
chimpfood I like it. Hope he can keep Earl’s system going because we are never going to out recruit Yale Princeton and Harvard. What's the basis for this? I have no idea other than Princeton's history with basketball and the recent success of Yale and Harvard. Is it just because of basketball being HYP or bust when it comes to Ivy recruits?by Iceberg - Other Sports
Re: ECAC Early and Grad Departures 2024 - 2 months ago
Jeff Hopkins '82 ugarte DOESN'T ANYONE WITH SCORING TOUCH WANT TO LEARN HOW TO RUN A MARRIOTT? Hockey players aren't hotelies. They're business majors. Scrivens was a hotelie, no? I'm sure there are quite a few others players who have been hotelies in the past 15 years.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: NCAA Tournament 2024 - 2 months ago
Very blue-blood FF this year and half the teams were in it last year with a third having made an appearance in 2022. So much for national parityby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: NCAA Tournament 2024 - 2 months ago
ugarteinteresting! i guess they shared some of the administrative burden and revenue from hosting? That I don't know and someone more knowledgeable like the brother Wodon could probably answer that. What I do know is that BU won and we could've seen a matchup with them and Cornell in the FF. Alas...by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: NCAA Tournament 2024 - 2 months ago
AIC couldn't have gone to Springfield since the site is their home rink. They probably would've played BU or BCby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: NCAA QF - Denver - 2 months ago
Close, close game. Given how some points of the season went, the past few weeks have been fantastic. It would've been nice to see them get over the regional hump for the first time in a long timeby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: NCAA QF - Denver - 2 months ago
Refs decide to actually call something now. Geezby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: NCAA QF - Denver - 2 months ago
That was a costly penalty, although it looks like Denver may have not been called for some kind of interference during that PPby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: NCAA QF - Denver - 2 months ago
Robertson looks great. He's basically a one-man show at the blue lineby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: NCAA QF - Denver - 2 months ago
Today I learned that the name of the NHL team in Boston is the Sabresby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: NCAA QF - Denver - 2 months ago
Good for DeSantis. He created most of that playby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: NCAA QF - Denver - 2 months ago
I'm guessing ESPN decided not to go with a broadcast team today? I just see the stream but hear nothing but game and crowd noise on ESPN+by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Men's lax Cornell at Penn 3/30/2024 - 2 months ago
I think Cornell wins against Penn in 7 out of 10 tries but that was as bad a loss as anyby Iceberg - Other Sports
Re: Men's lax Cornell at Penn 3/30/2024 - 2 months ago
I couldn't see who that one Cornell player by himself was but I don't know how he missed the net from point blankby Iceberg - Other Sports
Re: Men's lax Cornell at Penn 3/30/2024 - 2 months ago
Yeah, the offense looks inept compared to earlier in the game. Also, a bunch of unforced turnovers giving Penn more possessionby Iceberg - Other Sports
Re: Men's lax Cornell at Penn 3/30/2024 - 2 months ago
Well, and Kirst gets one right away.by Iceberg - Other Sports
Re: Men's lax Cornell at Penn 3/30/2024 - 2 months ago
It's a beautiful day here to be watching a game. Penn players on the field now doing warmupsby Iceberg - Other Sports
Re: NCAA Tournament 2024 - 2 months ago
ugarte Q hit another post then Wisconsin fell asleep on a diagonal pass from blueline to blueline, easy zone entry, centered to a guy skating in on the goalie and someone nominated for the Richter got pantsed and sent home. They got caught a bad change and the game is over just like that. Q/BC should be a good oneby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: NCAA Tournament 2024 - 2 months ago
Wisconsin is a solid defensive team with some strong players, but now they have a PK in overtimeby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: NCAA Tournament 2024 - 2 months ago
sah67 Jack Malone has the primary assists on BC's 2nd and 3rd goals. BC leading 3-1 almost halfway through the third. He has looked quite good this gameby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: NCAA Tournament 2024 - 2 months ago
1-1 between BC and Michigan Tech in the 1st. Michigan Tech with one of the best PK's I've seen this year with a SHG includedby Iceberg - Hockey
