Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Dead (or Zombie) Cheers - 21 years ago
Fight, Maim, Kill It still exists. Of course it's up to the band to lead it, it's probably about once a game, though possibly not at all games, and doesn't enjoy full participation. One of the oldies that half the place knows, or at least choses to do. May not make it over the radio. It enjoys about the same amount of the participation within the band. There are a few hard core supporters, but tby Tub(a) - Hockey
Re: Dead (or Zombie) Cheers - 21 years ago
The only possible way I see of fighting these things is to whup the offender upside the head when he does it. I think a couple of well-placed, anonymous noogies would get the facetimers to stop doing "Diiiiiiiiiiiiiiie" pretty much permanently. Section C is just a few short steps from the offenders, maybe someone should take the initiativeby Tub(a) - Hockey

It doesn't sound like Glover has a lot of offensive potential, but there is nothing wrong with hopeby Tub(a) - Hockey

Then click on music. You can download a few other common Lynah songs (such as NCFS and My Old Cornell) as well.by Tub(a) - Hockey

Re: Pre-Frosh Back Again - 21 years ago
Swedish fish were popular this year too; made the ice look all nice and colorful Not to be a jerk or anything, but aren't swedish fish stetching it a bit much? They have nothing to do with the Boston area seafood fetish which IIRC was the initial reason for throwing fish. It just seems to me that they are the choice of students who either don't want to pay money for a fish or don't want to get cby Tub(a) - Hockey

I was thinking about that as well, so i just rounded it upby Tub(a) - Hockey
Re: Rochester D & C: LeNeveu to stay - 21 years ago
After Burke, it really looks like LeNeveu is their best goalie. Burke doesn't have much left in him, and I wouldn't be surprised if they are knocking on LeNeveu's door the second Burke decides to retire.by Tub(a) - Hockey
Re: UNHappy - 21 years ago
seeing where the FF was held, wouldn't it be more relevant to label them as the Buffalo Bills of college hockey? Lets see them get to 4 championships in a row firstby Tub(a) - Hockey
Re: A New Lynah - 21 years ago
Central scoreboards --> speakers --> piped in music --> I would like to think Athletics values our Pep Band more than that. That's what I'd like to think.by Tub(a) - Hockey
Re: A New Lynah - 21 years ago
IIRC all we need to be able to host a regional is 4,000 seats. Lynah would need a couple hundred more. I assume, however, that this number is low mostly so that more western sites can host regionals. I doubt very much that the NCAA would put a regional in Lynah when there are several locations in the east that fit more fannies.by Tub(a) - Hockey

Re: UNH's Gare - 21 years ago
Just a little info - he only scored 3 goals in his last 12 games, and none in his last five. Those 3 goals came against powerhouses Northeastern (1) and Lowell (2). No goals in 4 games this year vs. BU either. I don't care too much about those stats. It is more the type of player that he is that scares me. He is not only fast, but physical enough to beat CU in the corners. It will be a huge lossby Tub(a) - Hockey
Re: buffalo parking - 21 years ago
I will also reiterate: UB's south campus (Bailey Ave.) and the location of the park and ride are places you DO NOT want to be after dark. It may take you a while to find a spot in downtown Buffalo, but if you plan on staying for the evening game I strongly recommend you park in the downtown area.by Tub(a) - Hockey

Re: Donations to pep band - 21 years ago
I don't mean to step on my manager's toes here, but he's pretty busy so I can give you an address. You can send donations to: Big Red Pep Band Teagle Hall Cornell University Ithaca, NY 14853 This should be correct, but you may want to e-mail Paul to confirm.by Tub(a) - Hockey
Re: Buffalo hotel info. - 21 years ago
Mike, Do you think there is any chance they might reserve that lot for the event usage to favor tourism over everyday commerce? I know I am talking about Buffalo leadership here, but theres a chance, right?by Tub(a) - Hockey
Re: Directions - 21 years ago
That's the quickest (and easiest) way. Be VERY CAREFUL of county sherriffs on Rt. 96. I always see one when I go home, and I do not let my speed go much above 55. They will give you a ticket if you speed even the slightest amount.by Tub(a) - Hockey
Re: Frozen Four Pregame Party in Buffalo - 21 years ago
I haven't heard anything about a Pep Band appearance other than the possible one at Dunn Tire Park. We should know what our official itinerary is tomorrow evening, I will let you know if this event is on it.by Tub(a) - Hockey
Re: POST GAME PARTY THURSDAY AT THE PIER - 21 years ago
D'Marlowe isn't unfamiliar to me, she is a non-Pep Band Marching Band tuba. She is in the hotel school though, so it might be a little hotelie prideby Tub(a) - Hockey
Re: Donations to pep band - 21 years ago
If you specifically said "Big Red Pep Band," the money should have gone to the Pep Band only. The Marching Band and Pep Band are separate organizations. If you can e-mail me off list and tell me who the letter was from, I could give you a better idea.by Tub(a) - Hockey
Re: Buffalo hotel info. - 21 years ago
The trains probably don't go past midnight because you don't want to be in that area of Buffalo after midnight. As for parking, there is a lot right next to the arena that is used for events and costs 10 bucks (about) for Sabres games. I do not know if it will be used exclusively for this event or if it will be open for normal parkers.by Tub(a) - Hockey
Re: Golly - 21 years ago
they also haven't lost all year wearing their white jerseys and haven't lost a game that started at noon Didn't they wear the white jerseys in Florida?by Tub(a) - Hockey
Re: band & Cu seating @ buffalo? - 21 years ago
Any bets as to whether there'll be waiters at the NCAAs? Please oh please oh please...by Tub(a) - Hockey
Re: band & Cu seating @ buffalo? - 21 years ago
It depends. If you like watching the game TV style, take the 300 level seats. If you like to see the play develop, take the 100 level seats. They are both good options. The seats we are in are not luxury boxes, but they are normally 90 dollar seats. I am shocked and overwhelmingly giddy that we get to sit there, it means we will actually be a part of the crowd.by Tub(a) - Hockey

IIRC the voting is done and they publicize the top 3 vote getters. The winner is announced Friday, but is already known.by Tub(a) - Hockey
Re: Cornell declared favorite - 21 years ago
It's a pretty typical move by the Minnesota coach, their team is under a lot of pressure to repeat, so he wants to deflect as much pressure as he can.by Tub(a) - Hockey
