Re: Cornell Football 2019 - 4 years ago
I believe CFA’s issue is with the inadequate level of support the university provides for the football program. This is less about institutional control of a booster group & more about providing the necessary funding, facilities, & staff required for a competitive Ivy program. As the CFA states in their letter, after two decades of abysmal results, “Results matter”. The CFA is much cloby CAS - Other Sports

Our former QB coach left Cornell in June for the powerhouse program Hamilton College.by CAS - Other Sports
Re: Cornell Football 2019 - 4 years ago
Cornell went 5-5 & 4-6 (9-11 overall ) in the two years prior to the Archer era. 15-45 since. Btw Brown let go of a coach after he had 3 losing seasons, despite going 115-94 overall & winning 3 Ivy titles.by CAS - Other Sports
Re: Cornell Football 2019 - 4 years ago
Brown has a new head coach & a QB transfer from Boston College. Cornell has Dave Archer (15-45) returning for his 7th year as head coach.by CAS - Other Sports

Is it time yet for another 6-year extension?by CAS - Other Sports
Re: Cornell Football 2019 - 4 years ago
So in Andy’s 20-year tenure as AD, a winning football team has turned into a perennial doormat, with uncompetitive facilities, insufficient funding, & alienated supporters who may no longer financially support the program.by CAS - Other Sports
Re: Cornell Football 2019 - 4 years ago
In Andy’s 20 years as AD, Cornell football has had 2 winning seasons. In the 11 years prior to Andy taking over as AD, Cornell football had 6 winning seasons. Discuss amongst yourselvesby CAS - Other Sports
Re: Morgan Barron Profile - 5 years ago
Believe Angello is earning far less than what’s written above. That number presumes he’s playing in the NHL. He’s been playing in the AHL, where salaries are a fraction of the NHL minimum.by CAS - Hockey
Re: Cornell Football 2019 - 5 years ago
Thx for posting schedule. Might be more excitement if our coach didn’t have a 15-45 record.by CAS - Other Sports
Re: Men's basketball 2018-19 - 5 years ago
Yup, Donahue was just lucky. 3 straight Ivy titles, including the Sweet 16, had nothing to do with coaching. Not responsible for attracting the players who played for him. The Fab 3 were all NBA lottery picks. Turning around Penn was pure luck again. Expect Brian Earl will be similarly lucky, & take us to the Elite 8 soon.by CAS - Other Sports
Re: Men's basketball 2018-19 - 5 years ago
Guess the players Coach K has recruited has made him look good too. And how many games did the Fab 3 play in the NBA?by CAS - Other Sports
Re: Men's basketball 2018-19 - 5 years ago
Donahue is an excellent coach. Look how Cornell has fared after his departure. Bill Courtney went 60-113 during his 6 unsuccessful years. Brian Earl is 24-41 so far.by CAS - Other Sports
Re: Cornell football 2018 - 5 years ago
Hofher was followed by Pete Mangurian, who went 11-10 in the Ivies from 1998-2000, including 10-4 in his last 2 years. Following Mangurian’s departure, Andy Noel, who became AD in 1999, has selected 4 coaches. Their combined Ivy record is 38-88 (2001-2018). Andy’s tenure as AD has seen Cornell football go from a consistent winner, contending for titles, to the bottom of the league.by CAS - Other Sports
Re: Cornell football 2018 - 5 years ago
Jim Hofher, former Cornell Head coach, just changed jobs again. For those who think you can’t win at Cornell, Hofher’s teams finished in the upper half of the Ivies every year he coached (‘90 -‘97). His overall Ivy record was 33 - 23.by CAS - Other Sports
Re: Cornell football 2018 - 5 years ago
So Brown fires a coach who won 3 Ivy titles & hires a consultant. Brown has financial constraints similar to Cornell. A big contrast to Andy’s inaction with a program that has lost 75% of its game in 6 years under Dave Archer. Wait, Andy did send an email out.by CAS - Other Sports
Re: Cornell football 2018 - 5 years ago
Yes. Add in improved fundraising & school spirit. Columbia homecoming this year had the fourth highest attendance ever. Fix football, don’t accept running a doormat programby CAS - Other Sports
Re: Cornell football 2018 - 5 years ago
I believe it’s more expensive to run a losing football program in this manner, than to invest to win. Who now wants to write a check to Cornell football? Who wants to attend a game? Fielding a perennial loser hurts alumni engagement, which goes hand-in-hand with fundraising. Facility upgrades would help other programs, including lacrosse. Cornell football had a winning program from 1986-2000.by CAS - Other Sports
Re: Cornell football 2018 - 5 years ago
The 7 other Ivy football coaches applaud Andy’s decision. You are what your record is. 6 years & 60 games is more than an adequate sample size. David Archer is 15-45, with zero improvement in record from year 1 to year 6.by CAS - Other Sports
Re: Cornell football 2018 - 5 years ago
No news re football. Guess those overseeing the program are satisfied with losing 75% of games, with no improvement over the 6 years.by CAS - Other Sports

Would love to see Estes in Ithaca (like bringing Bagnoli to Columbia).by CAS - Other Sports
Re: Cornell football 2018 - 5 years ago
I can’t believe what I just saw. Cornell is now 15-45 (25%) in the Archer era. In Archer’s 6 years as head coach, Cornell’s top Ivy finish is a tie for 5th.by CAS - Other Sports
Re: M Soccer 2018 - 5 years ago
Not just football & basketball struggled this fall. Women’s soccer went winless in the Ivies, & field hockey went 1-6 in Ivy games.by CAS - Other Sports
Re: Cornell football 2018 - 5 years ago
Cornell is a a 5-pt underdog at Columbia this Saturday. If Cornell loses, we would have the same record in Dave Archer’s 6th yr as we had in his 1st - 3-7 overall & 2-5 in the Ivies, for a 7th place Ivy finish.by CAS - Other Sports
