Re: Cornell lacrosse Princeton 4/29/23 noon - 1 year ago
Good guys win. Wouldn't have been so if Adler hadn't had a truly outrageous sequence to prevent a Princeton ground ball that was going to give them a numbers advantage with no defense really in placeby semsox - Other Sports

Hasn't been a huge factor, but have not enjoyed the officiating this game.by semsox - Other Sports

Re: Cornell lacrosse Princeton 4/29/23 noon - 1 year ago
That was going to be a dispiriting possession for someone, and I'm glad it didn't end up being us. Kelleher taps it in off of a scramble after Princeton made several great defensive plays. 8-7 Cornellby semsox - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse Princeton 4/29/23 noon - 1 year ago
Tied up at 7. Cornell has the ball with a minute left. Coyle has had a brutal game so far, with some really awful turnovers. Need to get CJ and Long more involved in the offense. Also hopeful Buczek has some halftime adjustmentsby semsox - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse at Brown 4/22 - 1 year ago
Not at all meant as a criticism, but really nice to see CJ letting the offense come to him a bit more. 7 of his 15 assists in the last 4 games, and for as prolific a goal scorer as he is, there were some times earlier in the year where there was a fear the offense was too one-dimensional/reliant on him. Long being back maybe a big part of that shift.by semsox - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2023 - 1 year ago
Acknowledging we likely won't know with any certainty until late next year, my baseline assumption would be that CJ will use all of his eligibility at Cornell.by semsox - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2023 - 1 year ago
billhoward We're discussing who belongs behind the cage at X, who should be out front, who on the wings. On a simpler level, with Michael Long back, is this or is this not the most powerful attack in Division 1 this year? A question worthy of asking, though it would be surprising if so considering it's likely the worst Cornell attack of the last 3 calendar years. Even with Kirst's developmeby semsox - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2023 @ Harvard 4/8/23 - 1 year ago
I will be at the game tomorrow and hoping to see a good effort from the team, though I admit, my recent track record with live Cornell sporting events has been less than stellar: vs. Princeton Men's Bball Ivy Semis (2022) - 73-77 L vs. Maryland Lax Championship (2022) - 7-9 L @BU Men's Hockey (2023) - 3-4 L vs. BU Men's Hockey NCAAs (2023) - 1-2 Lby semsox - Other Sports

Elsewhere, Penn beats Yale 17-16, dropping Yale to 0-3 in the Ivy. Harvard beat Colgate 14-10, and Princeton is up 7-6 on Brown at the half.by semsox - Other Sports

3 goals for Blake today. Looking much more confident than he did earlier in the season. We'll need production from our midfield, so great to seeby semsox - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2023 - 1 year ago
Meanwhile, Penn up 5-1 on Yale, and you have to think there's a real chance Yale doesn't even make the ILTby semsox - Other Sports

While 8-0 is an asskicking, I believe 8-1 is a "Gentleman's asskicking", and it appears Michigan has agreed to those terms. About 10 min left in the 3rdby semsox - Hockey

Re: Cornell lacrosse 2023 - 1 year ago
I'll post the same thing I posted in lax forum, because I am still frustrated: What a frustrating game. I think it was easy enough to look past the offensive limitations in the previous games where we came out on top, but no more. If we fancy this team as serious contenders in late May, the offense needs to be better and more efficient, period. While I understand the attack is in flux with Lonby semsox - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2023 - 1 year ago
Very frustrating half so far, but defense holding strong. Offense needs to pass the ball around. Too much isolated initiation.by semsox - Other Sports

Excellent half. Our defense is outstanding. Adler is a monsterby semsox - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2023 - 1 year ago
Ivies certainly don't look as strong as last year. Will make league play all the more important, as we won't get as pronounced an RPI benefit as last yearby semsox - Other Sports

Re: St. Lawrence at Cornell 2023-02-18 - 1 year ago
Scersk '97 arugula Have you noticed that we always seem to have small goalies? Watching Shane, he just kind of shrinks into the net. We don’t need a 6’6” keeper like Clarkson, but 6’1” would be good. They claim Shane is 6’0”. Lol. Don't get me started. I know everyone (else) loved Andy Iles… But I saw Yale open him up like a bad can of tuna in Atlantic City his freshman year, and I thinkby semsox - Hockey
Re: Men's Basketball 22-23 - 1 year ago
Harvard shot 28% from 3 and 50% for the game. We shot 25% from 3 and 33% for the game. We took 10 more 3's than Harvard, but that's the math. Disappointing gameby semsox - Other Sports
Re: Men's Basketball 22-23 - 1 year ago
Just setting the stage for beating Princeton on their home floor in the ILT. Pretty tough to beat a team three times in the same season, right? Right??? In all seriousness though, I do admire the resolve of this team. It looked like the game was going to get out of hand with about 5 minutes left, but they really did force Princeton to keep making shots and playing through.
